For everyone who is calling Ziyu dumb and clueless - don’t you find it inconsistent that he appears oblivious to clues about YWS duplicity, but he was quick to observe that he was being followed by Gong spies and even knew who sent them? And he was quick to find the person who stole YWS necklace. I actually thought he’d spend the whole night looking for the thief. And he had his own motive for attending the lantern festival, to verify the truth about the housekeeper. This tells me that his dumbness is a disarming act. He can be quite smart when he wants to be.

I think his openness with YWS is a strategy to make her open up to him. Kill her with kindness and love - and apparently it’s working. Unless he really IS just a dumb bloke, but I kind of doubt it.

I’m guessing Lady Wuji faked her assassination attempt to throw the scent off her. I firmly believe she’s Anonymous. Just because she loves Ziyu and protects him doesn’t mean she isn’t Wufeng.

I also doubt Anonymous is the one killing off the Gongs. After being quiet for 20 years. There’s no reason for her to start killing. Especially when there’s proof that Wufeng didn’t order the assassinations. They were as surprised as anyone when SW got killed. So it might be another culprit doing the killings and pinning it on Anonymous.

Why are they making such a big deal about how GZY is special and how his father had bid expectations of him when he when he wasn’t supposed to be SW anyway? And how come his older brother isn’t shown in all the flashbacks in Lady Wuji’s story? Why was he omitted?

This is where the translations are wonky. Many times it refers to GZY’s mom as the 1st wife and Lady Wuji as the 2nd wife. But subs could be wrong. I always thought that GZY’s brother’s mom was the 1st wife. But there was no reference to her in Lady Wuji’s story.

It’s not only because it’s his lineage, it’s also because he’s the best at it of all the people in the Gong clan. He’s crazily good at what he does. He does have check and balances though, as he told YWS when she visited his clinic, he can be punished or killed if anyone important dies mysteriously from the drugs in his clinic.

This narrative has a lot of holes. GZY was never supposed to be Sword Wielder in the first place. The plot would have us forget that he had an older brother who was capable and in line for that position. From ep 11, are we to deduce that GZY was the Sword Wielder’s only child? Who is the mother of his older brother then? And what happened to her? Did she die? Or was she merely a concubine? I’m confused, because if GZY mom was the first wife and Lady Wuji was the 2nd wife, then who are the parents of his older brother?

Then it must be GSJ’s half brother which means Lady Jing isn’t GSJ’s bio mom.

This is my understanding. GSJ biological mother was pregnant before she came to the Gong family. The scene shows his mom visiting the clinic when she was pregnant with his younger brother. By inference, if his bio mom is pregnant before she joined the Gong family, and HE is the older brother, that would make HIM the illegitimate child. Because there’s no way he cold have been born outside and still have claim to the Gong family’s assets. In medicine, a patient’s medical journal chronicles that patient’s medical history from Day 1. So it’s not just Lady Ling’s current pregnancy (which the flashbacks were about) but ALL her pregnancies (past & present ). Unless Lady Ling isn’t his bio mom, but a stepmom he grew very attached to.

Nothing is off. The former Sword Wielder must have wanted to protect GSJ from the truth and probably figured no harm done with the rumors since he knows HE is actually Ziyu’s bio dad. Unfortunately, GSJ didn’t appreciate the grace he was given, and ended up exposing himself and his ancestry, which is why he is so distraught.

I agree. GSJ realized that HE was the ‘bastard’ child. His mother was pregnant with him before joining the Gong sect and that is why he couldn’t qualify to be Sword Wielder. What a plot twist I didn’t see coming.

I’ve seen a lot of comments rave about the second couple, but personally I prefer the lead couple. Let me discuss why I feel the lead couple’s love and chemistry is more convincing to me.

1) Honesty- Both YWS and GZY are honest in their dealings with each other. Behind YWS lies that mask her background and mission is the honesty of her emotional response to GZY. The way she cries when he does things that touch her. Like when he said he’d protect her, or when he told her that nothing was too good for her. You could see the wonder in her eyes, as no one ever treated her that way before. Especially after being told constantly how she was just a tool to Wufeng. Unlike SGQ who uses tears as a manipulative tool whenever she deals with GSJ.

2) GZY cherishes YWS. And he doesn’t hide it. He’s so open with his trust for her, he shows her constantly how much he values her, treats her like a real partner, respects her. In contrast, GSJ talks down to SGQ. He’s been violent with her on two occasions, where he gripped her arm hard enough to cause her pain. Their relationship is all about HIS wants, HIS needs, how she should please him. It’s all about him being the dominant, while she’s the submissive trying to please him. Typical cat and mouse behavior. I feel that they are constantly lying to each other and manipulating each other. Such a relationship isn’t built to last.

I personally, feel that the relationship of our lead couple, though slow going, has the potential to last a lifetime.

That is my thought as well. She’s too cocky.
