He is. I want this guy to be humbled so that he can mind his own business. NGL His acting and looks like a rapists,…
I kind of feel sorry for him as well. If his parents didn't adopt FL, he may have had a chance to pursue her like everybody else. But now, his attention on her is icky and the FL always feels uncomfortable whenever he pays her compliments and tells her she's pretty. Their dynamic is not that of healthy siblings. No surprise because they grew up in such a restrictive household. I don't know why C-dramas love these pseudo incestous tropes.
It is weird but they’re not blood relatives. He needs his own love line though lol.
I think the college student is calculatively stalking him. She is not as innocent as she seems. I recall the conversation she had with her roommates about sugar daddies. And I suspect she goes out of her way to attract his attention. He has a soft spot for her because she kind of looks like his adopted sister.
I’m happy to see that the drama improves drastically after they toned down the FL’s silly antics in ep 13 and made her more mature. I’m enjoying the cinematography, cgi, fight scenes and the wash of colors. And now I can better focus on other character arcs, side plots and machinations of the royal family.
Just finished watching this drama. This is a rare drama where I’m as invested in the second couple’s romance as I am the leads. A beautiful, heartwarming, wholesome drama which surprised me by its simplicity and its everyday ordinariness.
She might improve but she's annoying for the first eight or so episodes
To me, it's a toss up between both actress, I don't see one better than the other. I'm really not questioning the actresses ability. I'm questioning the director's choice in making her act so silly. Case in point - the drunk scene. Was it really necessary? I know some viewers find it cute, but I'm so over the drunk FL scene. Or her embarrassing her shifu in class by referring to eating nuts because she knows something about him that others don't? The actress is only pulling off what the director asked her to, but I can't help wishing that the directorial choice was for a more serious minded FL. But what do I know? Maybe Chinese love silly and cute FLs and that is why this trope persists.

So do I. She's still annoying up to episode 12. I'll wait until ep 14. I think I'm a bit jaded. I'm really over the cutesy, silly FL trope but I'm hanging in here for XZ. Love his portrayal of his character. And for those who wish to criticize me for disliking the FL. I've nothing against the actress, but a character can be young and quite sensible, a good example is the FL in back from the brink, or the doctor in The Blood of Youth. They are both quite young and inexperienced, but act mature.
After watching journey of chongzi i can't watch another teacher desciple drama , i just hate "sifu" word now FL…
Yeah. FL lead's acting is driving me insane. I WANT to like the drama, but her antics are so silly. After watching Back from the Brink with such a sensible FL, I can't help feeling sad that they are reverting back to tropes of smart but acting silly, cutesy FL.
What are the odds that there is no prophecy? That the priest just made up the Yin-Yang theory about the Crown Prince and the damsel of doom because he wants to continually manipulate the Crown Prince? Power is seductive, maybe he too wants to rule the throne via the Crown Prince. He’s certainly working behind the scenes to pick him his potential wife. My guess is that Shi Ying is already in love with Zhu Yan and has a soft spot for her since they were children. Which makes his priesthood vow of celibacy, very stupid imho.
When I watch this drama, I find myself holding my breath without realizing it. The scene where he sits next to her in class is so sweet, sensual and satisfying. I was holding my breath for so long waiting for them to kiss. I didn’t realize I wasn’t breathing until the drama ended. It really has a grip on me.
Zhao Lusi has a very sweet romance with Luo Yizhou in Gen Z (which is not a romantic drama) - almost as sweet…
My opinion, - she didn’t have any romantic chemistry with YY in WRTW. They felt more like siblings instead. Behind the scenes footage showed YY treating her like his little sister, I think that vibe spilled over into the drama and affected their chemistry. Til date YY remains the only ML that ZLS has starred with who had no romantic chemistry with her.
I love the pure innocence of this drama. No backstabbing, manipulations, evil intentions, etc. Just pure innocence…
Zhao Lusi has a very sweet romance with Luo Yizhou in Gen Z (which is not a romantic drama) - almost as sweet as this one. Makes me wish that they'd partner together in a romcom. Their chemistry was just so good. She really pairs very well with most male actors.
Another actor I would like to see her pair with in a romcom is Li Yun Rui, they've acted in two dramas together (LLTG and The Last Immortal) but never as romantic partners. Their chemistry in LLTG was very fiery and I would like to see how they play off each as romantic partners.
I am waiting for her and WL to announce another drama together 🥲🥲🥲
Zhao Lusi has paired with a ML as a romantic partner in two dramas - Li Hongyi in ' Love Better Than Immortality" and "Prodigy Healer". These are B list or C list dramas which were released before her burst to fame in The Romance of Tiger & Rose. So they are not as well known to the public.
