After Miao Renfengs return and the incidents that happened that led to Nan Lan leaving... Do you think she has…
I agree with you. Instead of thinking that he doesn’t love her, I am more inclined to think she never really loved him, but only stayed with her him because she was grateful for him saving her, and also because she had nowhere else to go. Otherwise how else could she have fallen so quickly for another man after her husband’s supposed death without seeing his body? She is a good woman but just more compatible with her second husband, who loved her the way she expected to be loved. Her first husband expected her to change herself to accommodate him; her second husband changed himself to fit her. He learned to paint, learned music and arts to please her, recognizing that she was a sheltered pampered girl who isn’t part of Jianghu. Plus he genuinely loves her,and she cares for him. But she was silly to expect to raise her daughter in another man’s house while the father is still alive.

She is a teen in love. Hormones are kicking you know. So I can understand her. I get your views as well because…
Thanks for your comment. I appreciate that you can see my point of view instead of others getting up in arms because I called the female lead out on displaying a tantrum when I expect her to think and help figure a way out of the mess that was created by her waking up his emotions in the first place, when she’s aware that now he can feel, he can no longer protect his people effectively. Also, because she knows the male lead as well as she does, that all he’s allowing his brother to do is completely out of character for him. I fully expect her to come to this realization in the next episode but as a viewer, I’m just a little frustrated about how the writing is bringing this up. I’ve actually been a little dissatisfied with the writing in the last few episodes including when she was told of her origin and she adamantly refused to listen. Which was why that rock god told her to come back and have a conversation with him later when she had experienced some things,

Here after reading AOS comments recommending this show lol. Totally hooked on this. This is way better than aos.…
Imho AOS lacks the emotional punch present in this show.

I’m at episode 30 and I’m a lot frustrated at the female lead right now. For someone who has been so smart, understanding and quick to think on her feet, she’s acting really silly right now. I hate the tropes that make the female lead turn senseless just because they have fallen in love. She’s aware that because she changed his emotions he no longer has hellfire and cannot defend his people, she’s also aware that he’s unable to resurrect the 100,000 soldiers. She’s been told that the moon tribe is disadvantaged and greatly outnumbered in the upcoming war. And all she can think about is being in love and her feelings. Why can’t she understand that at this moment, her man has other priorities, look around at the situation to see how she can support him and be a little less selfish? I interpreted his wish to be distant from her as a way to deal with the fraught situation and really can’t understand why she’s badgering him at this time. Ends rant. Episode 31 had better be good.

One should consider that the drama is written for Chinese audiences, who might not be familiar with the Agatha…
True. But I am only speaking for myself and my preferences. Not criticizing the show. And it may surprise you that a lot of Chinese may have already read Agatha Christie books ( the series are several decades, if not a century old), but enjoy the drama regardless. Different strokes for different folks😀

What?! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I would stay and watch till ep 66 if they did not truncate it down to 56. I was wondering…
Can they release a ‘director’s cut’ in the future that contains deleted scenes? There will be a market for this. I guarantee it!!! Lol

Highly disappointed with last 7 episodes.
@Peacock. In a way I feel like you do. The ending was anticlimactic for me as they tried to condense too much in 7 episodes. But I comfort myself that it was a happy ending and for a Cdrama it could have been a lot worse. Thankfully it’s not one of their ambiguous, open-to-your-own interpretation type of endings that usually characterizes Cdrama endings.

I’m so glad that they planned to hold the wedding Cheng Family style in Hua country. Why do I feel like the royal family has interfered too much into Shaoshang and the Cheng Family dynamics with regards to Zisheng and CSS engagement and wedding plans?

Today’s episodes are so very sad and dare I say unnecessary? What’s the point of making Lou Ben a villain? What message was the drama trying to convey by making CSS estranged from her first love and members of the family that treated her very well? That people who are dear friends today can turn out to be your bitterest foes tomorrow? Personally I just feel that the scenes of Lou Ben holding a knife to CSS’s neck and killing himself in front of his family is a tad overdone and repetitive. Why is CSS always the hostage with a knife to her neck? Was it like this in the original novel? Anyone whose read the original story should please advise. I wish he’d just taken a quieter route and served his time in prison, instead. This is a classic case where the incompetence of the CP in choosing people he’s connected with instead of promising talented candidates contributed to this disaster.

Yes, the FL there was quite obnoxious and almost ruined the series. I’m glad the duo are together again.

As an avid Agatha Christie fan from childhood, I’m a lot disappointed that the cases follow the format of her novels because there’s no mystery for me, I know how each case will end before hand. I do wish for some novelty in the cases and the writing. However I’m really enjoy seeing the duo together on screen, though they’ve switched places with Huo Yutian playing a much more serious character, and Leon Zhang, the more reckless one of the pair. I’m not sure if the actors’ chemistry alone is enough to keep me til the end of the series, so I’m hoping they introduce some new elements that will make it as compelling as its predecessor.

I felt bad for CSS mom when NN turned down the family’s wedding accessories and said she would use what the empress prepared. That must have hurt a great deal as it is one of the honors and joys of a mother to prepare her daughter’s wedding trousseau. And CSS is her only daughter. I think CSS realized afterwards how hurt her mother must have been. But considering that her mother never actually put together any accessories or clothes towards her daughter’s potential marriage and only actively discouraged her suitors, it made sense for CSS to accept the empress gifts without giving any consideration to what her family may have prepared for her. I’m sure her mother now regrets all the missed opportunities she had to train CSS on wifely duties when she was younger and only directing all her affections on YY. I’m sure she assumed she would always have the time to do so in the future. She could never have foreseen that the daughter she thought so little of, would blossom in the palace, and become so instrumental there that she even found a surrogate mother. And she has only herself to blame for not taking others advice, and expressing love to her daughter while she had the chance. She has plenty of opportunity to prepare YY’s wedding trousseau. She can content herself with that.

But doesn’t this make the drama more beautiful, when we root for two excellent women and a beloved emperor? I do so love that there are no harem cat fights in this drama!

The empress made me so sad :( even though I love the emperor and consort yue, him not reciprocating the empress'…
Let’s all be aware that the empress is his second wife. She got married into an already established marriage. Consort Yue and the Emperor were childhood sweethearts who later married, and by rights she should have been Queen. But the emperor needed the might of the Xuan family and arranged a political marriage with the empress in return for her support. Considering all this, it’s a good thing that they treat her well, and she is submissive to them. If you study her behavior, you’ll notice that she acts like a second wife, instead of the empress. Being kind and gentle and always afraid to rock the boat. It must be infuriating for those who love her, so in a sense I understand the 5th princess exasperation with this whole setup, though she didn’t have to be so rude expressing her displeasure.
