can someone explain to me why so many scenes are being cut like that?? i mean if there is a limit on lengths for…
The problem with Chinese censorship is that there are no fixed rules. Everything is pretty much at the whims of the censorship board and they change those requirements/rules constantly. They often determine the number of episodes after the drama has been approved for viewing and many times editors have to leave many scenes on the chopping block at the last minute to fit to their requirements so the drama can finally air.
The problem with this drama is all the deleted scenes. Taking out crucial scenes messes with the continuity of the show. How is the audience supposed to build an emotional connection with the drama and have a logical understanding of the plot if the production cuts so many scenes out? Lately, I’m beginning to think that the censorship board is going overboard with limiting the number of episodes and type of scenes allowed. Very many dramas are affected by this. Isn’t it better to get the episode count before they shooting the drama and not afterwards? That way the production can better plan and layout their drama? I know that many otherwise bland Hollywood productions are often enhanced because the director sticks to the storyboard /script and planned scenes.
I think these problems are due to bad script writing. The FL's character has been changed a lot compared to the…

True. I’m finding this quirky off beat series more captivating than some more popular generic dramas. The pace of the drama, the framing of the scenes, the flash backs, epilogues and internal dialogues makes this drama seem more unique than generic. Definitely loving its Twenties vibe, with the clothes, scenery and haircuts. Looking at the ML and SML in that house I constantly have to remind myself that it’s not a republican era drama. Very little of this drama screams modern day to me, it constantly takes me back to early 20th century.
Origin of the body is still a mystery. Second Jin daughter Cho Yeon thinks it is not her sister but Naksu. Mama…
I think both mama Jin and 2nd sister Cho Yeom know that the person who is present isn’t really Bu Yeon. Else mama Jin wouldn’t keep her as a prisoner and plan to turn her into a brood mare. I suspect that as soon as ‘Bu Yeon’s’ child is born, and mama Jin is convinced that the power has transferred to the grandchild, she plans to off Naksu/Bu Yeon. But I agree that both souls sort of merged. And that they are both present in this person who now has Naksu’s body but a part of Bu Yeon’s soul. Hope the Hong Sisters don’t twist the plot beyond repair that no viewer can follow it. It’s already convoluted enough as it is.
Such a brilliant show that should be rated much higher than it currently is. They more than made up for the lack of romance in the middle episodes by giving us lots of sugar at the end. What’s the Douban rating for this drama?
What’s the significance of the female lead wearing her hair up as opposed to wearing her hair flowing down? Is it supposed to signify more maturity or a change in status from being a maiden to a married woman? Can anyone familiar with Chinese culture answer this? I just find it interesting that the FL changes her hair as she gets older in the plot; and even her bearing as Crown Princess is much more regal and elegant than when she was merely a ‘wife’. I thought the actress who played the FL quite brilliant as she was able to convey these changes in her personal growth and journey without losing her personality, character and integral persona.
Yin Qi & Princess Shangyuan’s chemistry>>>>>>>>>>> Li Wei & Yin Zheng’s current chemistry.
Please writer, why do you give the best romantic scenes to the side couples, and make our lead couple into an old married one?! It’s so boring watching them now. C’mon, Bai Jingting deserves more than this! (He’ll make a great dad in future, though, just sayin’. The scenes with his family are too precious for words).
After everything that the 2nd and 5th Princes said about the King’s ways of being a father, one would think…
My guess is that he just wants to be a minister who will be a catalyst for change. Otherwise, he wouldn’t make some moves to antagonize his father such as divorcing the princess, marrying his concubine and reporting the Crown Prince. Instead he would have played it safe and curried favor like Jin does.
The ep 32 tears were automatic. This felt like a breakup scene. The moment Li Wei said "Li we Your student bid…
There seem to be more feelings and romance between the two women, than with the ML. Honestly, where did all the romantic tension from the beginning episodes go? I kind of wish they hadn’t brought in YY as all the romantic scenes turned into sis-mance.
