My heart grew cold when I heard the king’s private thoughts about his 6th son. It boils down to favoritism, and the fact that although he punished the Crown Prince for his misdeeds, he cannot forgive Yin Zheng for pointing out the Crown Prince’s wrongdoings. Which was what the 3rd Prince tried to warn Yin Zheng about, and was the reason why Prince An tried to stop him from reporting the CP’s role in the counterfeiting scheme. Yin Zheng needs to tread carefully from now on, because his biggest enemy may turn out to be his own father.
My guess is that the next villain would be the 4th Prince, who is shrewder, smarter and more cunning than the 2nd Prince. I also think the King promoted the 4th Prince into that role because he knows that the 4th Prince will frustrate Yin Zheng’s plans as they are not close like the 3rd, 5th and 6th brothers. The king is no fool, I’m sure he is well aware of the relationships between his sons. Nothing like checks and balances in politics. It’s unfortunate when a king is wary of his own smart son. He is indeed using his sons like jade and kind of playing them against each other.
Why should she leave? It’s her choice whether to leave or stay. But if a show irritates you this much, isn’t…
I agree with you completely. Everyone has a right to their own opinions, and not everyone has the same taste or enjoys the same things. I wasn’t being sarcastic, I was asking genuinely as per your initial comment, I don’t understand why the FL should leave, when she is in love with the ML and is treated well. Your comment sounded like you were quite exasperated and tired of the drama, so I asked if you find the drama that frustrating, why not drop it, as the goal of entertainment is for pleasure and to destress. I like the drama, but see its flaws quite clearly. Personally, I would drop it in a heartbeat if I found it exasperating as there are so many other options out there. Although, everyone is free to choose their responses as they like.
2nd prince got off his mistakes so easily, he did so many despicable things and he was just exiled. Was his title…
I agree with you @Arte_Miss. He’s the king, he could privately have arranged for the 5th son to have some funds and a commoner’s house stashed away somewhere, but maybe he was too irate about what his son said to him that he abandoned his son. It does seem like the 5th son got the raw end of the deal, but maybe it will be the saving of him. He really doesn’t excel in politics, so he should find what he excels in and shine at it.
I really hope they release the BTS for the slapping scene in episode 30. It really looks like SGJ slapped YQ for…
It does. I saw the marks on her face afterwards. If that’s the case, it’s unforgivable by the actor and PD because it’s surely not necessary for the slap to be real. Wonder why there wasn’t more of an outcry on this.
This show is ADHD. It cannot decide what it wants to be. Every social problem being solved in one show. I cannot…
Why should she leave? It’s her choice whether to leave or stay. But if a show irritates you this much, isn’t it better to drop it and find something else that you enjoy?
You know, I think ML is going to use that boon from his father to ask for a divorce from YY and marriage to FL. After all, the king did say, as long as he isn’t breaking any laws he will give him anything he desires.
I really pity the king, he lost two of his sons, and from his behavior, you can tell he really loves his sons, but he is a king first, and a father second.
Was very smart of Yin Zheng to avoid going to the Ministry of Revenue and advocating his 3rd brother instead. No one can accuse him of plotting the demise of his brother for gain, and it takes the spotlight off him. Plus it wins him an ally in his 3rd brother, and his 4th brother will not resent him.
Personally, I don’t think Yin Zheng wants to be king. I think, with his brilliant mind, he wants to put forward a lot of changes in policy that improve the lives of his people, which he can do by being a credible councilor with a solid reputation. I don’t know if he necessarily would have the freedom to execute all his plans if he were king, instead of an advisor.
I kind of hate Yuan Ying... like I have to skip all of her scenes.
Why hate Yuan Ying? She too, is a victim. She didn’t ask for the marriage and wants to get out of it. Plus she is really kind and nice to FL, has suffered a lot and is very sacrificing. She has never come between ML & FL, instead she is training FL to take on responsibilities of a main wife. So….why hate her? Instead why not hate the Queen and King that insisted the 6th Lord marry another wife??
I think it's quite interesting the number of patients in this show that accuse the hospital of trying to rip them…
I think a large part of the problem, is a lack of health insurance that guarantees a basic minimum of service with less burden on the patient. If they could pay for some of the costs upfront, then it would be less burdensome on the patient when faced with emergency situations. Health insurance is by no means perfect, but it somewhat removes the initial squabbling for funds in an ER, and truth be told, some of those diagnostic tests can be pretty expensive and run into thousands of Yuan. Too much for the average joe just making a minimum wage.
The 10th Prince badly needed to be spanked with how disrespectful he was being and I am very glad that Shangyuan was there to teach him a lesson. I don’t believe the king is foolish. I’m sure he is aware of how incompetent the Crown Prince is. I believe he was setting up a trap for the Crown Prince and relying on Yin Zheng to entrap him, but the 5th Prince waded into the fiasco and the king’s hands were tied. I see the evidence of his care for his son with how he came to the prison to bid him goodbye. As a king, he didn’t have to do that. But as a father, the least he could do was see off his deposed son. I still believe that he doesn’t intend to leave the throne with the Crown Prince, because he can now see that the Crown Prince will not hesitate to harm his siblings just to get ahead. He might be grooming Yin Zheng for the throne unobstructively. He seems like a king who cares for his people, though he has some seriously backward thoughts about women. Time will tell if my faith in him is misplaced and if he is truly blinded by his lineal son.
One of the most irritating side characters I’ve come across, Tang Hua, I wonder if doctors are as unprofessional as she is. It’s not only that she gossips about her patients, it’s also how rudely she address them when they don’t adhere to her moral code. I’ve hardly met a more unprofessional, accusatory characters in a medical drama! And why are the doctors’ desks so close to the patients’ bed that they can overhear each other’s conversations? Is that really how an ER operates? I am currently enjoying this drama but would have enjoyed it more if certain side characters were absent.
This drama has a lot of strong points like women empowerment, brotherhood and sisterhood, but it isn’t very strong in building romance, which is why I think the ratings are dropping and not climbing. I love this drama, it’s my favorite in the currently airing dramas but I’d be the first to admit that the slow burn romance doesn’t do the drama any favors. I say ‘romance’ and not marital bonds, as we can see strong marital bonds and loyalty between spouses, however, the writing teases us with heart fluttering romance, but really doesn’t deliver. In ep 28, I was quite amazed that Li Wei who is the champion of the underprivileged and the underdog wasn’t even shown when her husband was unjustly punished. I personally feel that’s a major hole. Or does the drama want to convey she cares more for her girlfriend than her hubby, or maybe that women were completely excluded from political news?
I have mad respect for the 5th young lord who is doing everything he can for his wife. Even got whipped 20 lashes to support her and her friends. I just wish Shangyuan will reciprocate more openly and stop hitting him all the time, though I can see he doesn’t mind, and that she really cares for him. In retrospect, Hao Jia and him are more compatible and would have made a great couple, but I really like the pairing of YQ and Shangyuan. It works.
Everyone points to Yin Song as the villain of this drama. Imho, the real villain of the drama is the king. He’s the one who makes all the rules, some really stupid ones that women can’t show their faces outside the home or be engaged in business. He chooses wives and approves concubines for his sons , he’s the one whose favor they all have to scramble to get. Yes, Song is a nasty piece of work, but if he hadn’t been so empowered by his father, yet made to feel so insecure by his talented siblings, would he be so bold to get away with half of the stunts he’s currently pulling? He’s next in line for the throne, but really has little talents and next no real respect from his brothers. And why does the king have sooooo many sons? I understand the heir and the spare, but the king has 11 sons that we know of and counting. Small wonder the rivalry is so intense. Looks like he only has one daughter?
Their make up person must be really talented. We could still see the slap marks on Li Wei’s face in later scenes. It’s either good makeup or he slapped her for real.🥹
My guess is that the next villain would be the 4th Prince, who is shrewder, smarter and more cunning than the 2nd Prince.
