Personally, I love rewatching old dramas, I watch I Need Romance 3 every year, sometimes once every 6 months or even more times in a year

Personally, I think the episode length is the biggest issue.
Summer Strike is a good example. It fizzled out towards the end but given that it was 12 episodes, it didnt crash and burn like your average drama.
I wanted the drama to deal with police ethics and how they pressurized a minor to give a murder confession but sadly it didnt follow that route. Instead it was focused on catching criminals, which was boring.
The police forcing a confession from a 10 year old kid that let the real criminal get away was just as bad since it lead to a suicide

Is this better than the movie?
The movie was great so I feel watching this will ruin the movie for me

I agree that Shooting Stars plot was crap. I think they spent on the scriptwriting budget on getting Cho Jiwoo to guest star lol.
I enjoyed watching the bitchy character played by Lee Siwoo.
Didnt care for others. Tsunderes are annoying in anime but fun to watch in live action

It's just how life works. You will be more forgiving to gender.

I personally watch dramas to escape reality so I don't consider realism a requirement for a good drama.

Sorry but you are simply ignorant about Japanese dramas.
Unlike most Asian countries, Japanese dramas have zero censorship.
You can find anything you want.
The problem is the lack of subtitles since only dramas starring singers get subbed since it's the fans of the music they usually sub them.
You have only been exposed to a small fraction of Japanese dramas.
I love Japanese dramas but hardly watch them since I do not follow Jpop.

I recommend that you try this genre of Japanese: Human dramas

They are usually depressing so I don't watch them as much since I prefer Happy go-lucky stories

Also, I think you are selling yourself short, as a male drama fan who doesnt watch BL, it is nice for once to read an article that isnt about BL or a male star.
Female stars are underappreciated in my book.
