Not bad! I was hesitated to watch it at first because I just couldn't see Nino as "genius surgeon" and the synopsis sounded more like "Doctor X - Idol Version" to me...lol
But surprisingly this turned out to be good medical drama....the story is being told from the POV of the intern (Ryoma) which is different from usual.....i find it less cheezy this way compared to if it was otherwise...
Credit to the translator too....she also translated japanese commentary from TBS site...which is from the medical advisor of this drama....so if you (like me) feel something is impossible or ridiculous, you better read these commentaries on tronella livejurnal...you'll be surprised....a lot of other medical infos related to this drama are also there
just finished watching this few days ago....the theme is typical but the way they present the story is amazing....probably the best drama of the spring season?...highly recommended!
Nice article OAL! Although i've been watching Jdrama for years, my first taiga was Sanada Maru which i watched earlier last year.....haha... Before that, i always skip taiga because of longer episodes as well as the complexity of the Japanese historical era and politics...after you understand their political system, everything is kind of addictive and you'll appreciate japanese history more than before... Watched this one last year too, few taiga after sanadamaru...i like how the drama portrays "born to play" theme...throughout the story it's like a game of sugoroku between kiyomori and go-shirokawa...i think this one is the most artistic taiga that i've watched and I'm the fan of the opening...very beautiful!
i'm gonna check this out because i was head over heels with quartet :D
talking about sakamoto's drama, quartet is more like mondai restaurant to me...many side stories but don't connect nicely with the main one...some are damn good (like maki maki's story for example) but the rest are so-so...and some episodes feel like kudo kankuro's drama...lol
Anone on the other hand, still use the same formula but everything is blended nicely...all side stories were written equally in terms of the emotion and not too overpowering the others....
Yuriko looks very different in this.....more mature and elegant....other than that nothing worth to mention....but still an OK drama if you have some time to spare....
somehow this drama is reminding me of Kekkon Dekinai Otoko....the pace, the settings and even the main character....if you're a guy, you would enjoy this one!
Two things I don't get.1. How come is Aoba still alive? She was said to have 6 months left, but she's fine in…
1. I think it's Mochimoto who had 6 months left not Aoba...no? 2. Yes i'm curious about Hikoboshi too...maybe the writer just let this one open for interpretation...it could be like you said where he used the money and end up together with the rich girl....but there's also a possibility that everything was a lie (remember the first letter he sent to Harika in prison?)...and if you look at the Harika's reaction when they were touching their hands after the visit, there's some clue there...
This is one of my favorites!....What distinguish this from the typical Japanese detective dramas is that, this is only focusing on a single case throughout the series...and Uchino's acting in this is superb...if you like his acting in Jin, you would probably like Gonzo...
If you're looking for a crash-course on how to trade the stock, then you should watch this drama...haha i think the more appropriate title should be something like "Stock Market 101" or "Dummy Guide to Stock Trading"...besides the old cliche's revenge plot, you will also learn the following throughout the series (just naming a few that i could remember):
1. How to buy stock
2. Short selling
3. Day trading
4. Insider trading
5. Stock holder general meeting
6. Manipulating the market
7. Bank Run
This drama is actually good and fun to watch over and over again...however, the only available video files on the net are not so good one (well it's before HD era TV-ripped so you can guest the quality..)...despite all that, it's still entertaining and better than some of recent dramas IMO...
If you need something light with a bit of comedy, then you might want to check this out...i found the synopsis is a bit misleading and that might makes people think that this would be another cliche "senior-junior pairing" detective story while it's actually not...the main lead here might be one who does not know how to read situation but he is not naive...and how he solved the cases made this drama a worth watch...
This drama left me feeling kind of weird. I liked everyone except the lead actor. LOL. he sucked!! every one else…
Actually the lead actor (Katori Shingo) is not so bad...you should try "Bara no nai Hanaya" to see his maximum ability of acting...But as far as this drama is concern, his character is kind of plain and failed to make viewer to at least root for him....maybe it's something to do with the direction? idk...
What made me frustrated the most with this drama is, towards the end, the side stories of the step-brother, step-mother and the father FEEL more attractive than the main plot...at this point in the drama, i was expecting more from the main characters storyline...but they had ruined it by introducing "out of nowhere" love feeling between the two...and then....there you go the "proposal of the year" at the funeral...LOL
This drama has got potential...many people comparing it with Kekkon Dekinai Otoko... to me, KDO was damn good and smart in writing...but this drama was not even close...
Should they make everything went back to normal in the final episode like what the typical Japanese dramas always do, i would have given this a higher rating....maybe
the Gaudi arc was a bit..meh for me. the first arc was great though.
Haha...i kind of agree with you...i wish there would have been more technical details on how they find the solutions for that artificial valve...it was kind of rush in that part...
@bannie maybe this type of genre is not for everyone but i think the rating is fair enough....the business/corporate theme is kind of "heavy" to begin with, but the production team managed to make the drama enjoyable and easy to watch even for a non business/corporate oriented people like myself...
