This drama has everything; yakuza, good actors, ossan/obasan's fanservice and interesting storyline...it's just that the directing was a bit below par in my opinion.... and the casting could be more interesting if they choose Gen-san aka Endo Kenichi to play for Kenta's role or at least Goro aka Matsushige Yutaka could have play it better in my opinion...although Nakai Kiichi is a good actor, i don't think he has the yakuza vibe...
I have picked up the drama! I have just released episode 1. ;) https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6p667k
Thank you for doing the subtitle. I hope you will do more jdramas...it's just that i hope you will use a more normal structure on the subtitle...what i mean is when there are 2 persons dialog, please make it 2 lines instead of 1 long line with 2nd person dialog inside a bracket...(i watched on kissasian so not sure if the site screwed the formatting...) Anyway, it was a good job and thanks for the hard work!
LOL i think in japanese pop culture, incest, infidelity, S&M are kind of common...and now they're going 1 level…
sorry for the late reply...NTR is abbreviation of the japanese word 'netori or netorare' which literally means sleep with someone's wife (netori) or your wife been taken by someone (netorare). My japanese is very basic so i might be wrong on the latter part... From my observation, NTR is a 'sexual fetish' based on both netori/netorare and it's quite new (i only see it's being explored from around 5 years back only.... ). Note that in NTR fetish, the husband has to be aware of the infidelity and see the action (accidentally or not) by himself...while the netori/netorare just like a normal cheating or 'furin' in japanese where the husband might not aware of it...LOL In the drama, nothing to relate with NTR....although there is netori/netorare element definitely... There's english translation associated with NTR which is 'cuckold' but not sure how close the 2 terms is...
idk which is more gross. A. how can a normal person just okay with her mom banging man she likes.B. The mom still…
LOL i think in japanese pop culture, incest, infidelity, S&M are kind of common...and now they're going 1 level ahead with NTR... :P maybe for them these are normal?
Such a good production! The story is your usual kind of investigation mystery but the way they present it is what make this a good watch. Love how careful they were with the things that should appear on screen cause we have 3 different eras in this.
LOL i've been tricked by the poster and did not pick this up earlier even though it's been completely subbed long time ago. My opinion after finished watching: this is a good family drama and i love Ayase's acting and i think the child Miyuki is cute too. The only problem is this came in 2 story arcs and somehow changed the overall mood of viewer a bit on the second arc after a great first one. Furthermore, Sato Takeru's character is a bit annoying TBH (LOL didn't realized it was him before looking at the cast list above). Thank god the ending is satisfactory.
The drama is good but the most amazing part is the acting. Yamada is unarguable damn good actor, but Suda's portrayal of his character is what make this worth watching. This guy is a 'warm actor' type but doesn't outshine others and still give you some kind of impact, if you know what i mean. I like the ending and thank god it doesn't follow suit the border/crisis kind of ending... :P And credit to HPriest for the amazing subs...yeay..
Overall it's an okay movie. I think the main problem is with the long timeline and too many things to put in a short 2 hours movie. If this is a drama series, then it will have more hours to include all those political plots.
Such a good drama overall and thanks to HPriest for the sub too....but i wonder what is the meaning of the very last scene before the ending credit of the last episode....between Shin-chan and Sho-chan....any thoughts?
Not bad! I was hesitated to watch it at first because I just couldn't see Nino as "genius surgeon" and the synopsis…
However the last episode was lame....the plot twist was cheap and the drama has problem with time-line; it wasn't clear when Tokai's dad passed away and when did he left the Uni Hospital....when is the last time people use telegram (not phone apps one)??
Not bad! I was hesitated to watch it at first because I just couldn't see Nino as "genius surgeon" and the synopsis sounded more like "Doctor X - Idol Version" to me...lol
But surprisingly this turned out to be good medical drama....the story is being told from the POV of the intern (Ryoma) which is different from usual.....i find it less cheezy this way compared to if it was otherwise...
Credit to the translator too....she also translated japanese commentary from TBS site...which is from the medical advisor of this drama....so if you (like me) feel something is impossible or ridiculous, you better read these commentaries on tronella livejurnal...you'll be surprised....a lot of other medical infos related to this drama are also there
just finished watching this few days ago....the theme is typical but the way they present the story is amazing....probably the best drama of the spring season?...highly recommended!
Nice article OAL! Although i've been watching Jdrama for years, my first taiga was Sanada Maru which i watched earlier last year.....haha... Before that, i always skip taiga because of longer episodes as well as the complexity of the Japanese historical era and politics...after you understand their political system, everything is kind of addictive and you'll appreciate japanese history more than before... Watched this one last year too, few taiga after sanadamaru...i like how the drama portrays "born to play" theme...throughout the story it's like a game of sugoroku between kiyomori and go-shirokawa...i think this one is the most artistic taiga that i've watched and I'm the fan of the opening...very beautiful!
i'm gonna check this out because i was head over heels with quartet :D
talking about sakamoto's drama, quartet is more like mondai restaurant to me...many side stories but don't connect nicely with the main one...some are damn good (like maki maki's story for example) but the rest are so-so...and some episodes feel like kudo kankuro's drama...lol
Anone on the other hand, still use the same formula but everything is blended nicely...all side stories were written equally in terms of the emotion and not too overpowering the others....
Yuriko looks very different in this.....more mature and elegant....other than that nothing worth to mention....but still an OK drama if you have some time to spare....
somehow this drama is reminding me of Kekkon Dekinai Otoko....the pace, the settings and even the main character....if you're a guy, you would enjoy this one!
Anyway, it was a good job and thanks for the hard work!
