try to convince this to all those disappointed. again it's not about whose character is centric. nobody is even asking 50 mins of ML, but they cannot even give 1 min of ML showing his feelings, his despair, his prisoned state of mind.

and for that 1 min, people are giving lectures that its a FL centric drama. Man even the secondary leads are given more scenes to express their feelings than the ML.

that's why i mentioned in first third of show, In TPR the end was catastrophic. here start is fillers mostly.

if i understand you then 5 mins of character definition for Qiaoxi is enough. who needs more of his characterisation or his feelings despite he is the one with a troubled past? So, in first epi only we got to know and understand his character completely. so no need for any scenes of his then, except to romance/flirt with FL when needed.

But genuinely given 1 minute of introspection of what is happening in Qiaoxi's mind or his feelings does not undermine the show at all nor steal any limelight nor reduce Yingtao's importance at all.

she can be in 100% scenes, nobody minds. but that doesnt mean other characters are empty boxes only.

also as you are saying if show is only on her, they shouldn't have sold the show as a youth drama, the qunshad squad or a love story at all.

And if it's only on her, wonder why they got all actors to promote the show. only ZJM should have promoted the show yesterday. they should have gone the way of Tale of Rose then.

i totally agree with you. his mum tearing those letters was a blink and miss scene. while Yu Lin fangirling on their friend, SML reading his compatibility results with FL, them watching a match and eating chips had more importance :P.

anyway, i'll just take a break from this one.
but i genuinely wish ZLH be more selective in his upcoming shows. as at now, this is definitely coming even worst than TPR's obsession with SML.

a PH shouldn't leave it on viewers to guess and interpret what is happening with a ML. have we ever got his views about anything as such except the scene in the bus where he explains her what happened!

For Hidden Love their young versions lasted only 2-3 episodes. and the ML had a presence and importance in the show even if it was minimal.

Here we are already at 8th episode, and the ML is a black box mostly. his feelings are ignored mostly except random 1-2 scenes.

i don't care about FL or ML centric, but when a show cannot develop their main characters well for viewers to connect to, and mostly we have filler scenes in such starting episodes already, then something is wrong.

anyway let's agree to disagree. You are enjoying the show, and i feel this show is a disappointment. for now shall be dropping it. once over, i'll try to catch up with it.

maybe you read the novel, but you should see if from a neutral POV of a person who has not read the novel.

the whole episode on kids was just a built-up nothing more. even in 2nd episode, he went to look for her for only a few seconds nothing much.
like i said for a person who has not read the novel, this ML is coming like a self-obsessed character only. and his lack of POV scenes aren't helping and we are almost 1/3 of the show.

This story would ultimately culminate on their love story as grown ups, but as at now people don't feel or connect with the ML.

a show is made up by every characters, irrespective of screen time. when you fail to get the proper balance, that's when people disconnect completely. this sure is a big disappointment from a PH who gave such good shows like Hidden Love and Romance in the alley.

but for me the editing is weird. Screentime is immaterial if you don't get valid scenes. I'm still at epi5, but genuinely ML has no life or visibility at all except with FL's scenes. There was one small scene where we got his mother tearing letters, but even here it's all left for viewers to interpret it the way they want.

and sorry till now except a few glance (when FL and ML was outside his house) and then this micro-second scene in epi5, it's only our own interpretation of his mother controlling him.

it was a struggle to watch epi 5, and now from comments ML is mostly absent till epi8. when will the scenes come? when viewers have no real sympathy or don't even care for this invisible character? Built-up of all characters is very important, but as at epi 8, only character not properly developed at all in this show is Jiang Qiaoxi.

i doubt it was a rumor. This one was definitely >24 epis. You can already see the trend of Youku cutting majority of its modern dramas to 24 epis. Happened with Ski into Love also. There also people couldn't connect with character/s because of the excessive editing of scenes.

glad to see many feel like me! for people to understand the torture he went through, we needed some solid scenes between him and his mother? but instead we are getting the Qunshad watching TV, Yu Lin fangirling over.

i'm not able to connect at all with Jiang Qiaoxi, because our understanding of his character is solely based on our OWN IMAGINATION of his character since he hardly has any individual scenes. And i'm still at epi5, which was very hard for me to even complete. and now i hear the ML is even more absent in coming episodes!
what was ZLH exactly shooting for so many days when he's hardly even present in this show?

Guess i'll just drop it till it ends. then i can ffwd and watch only relevant scenes.

i had such big expectations from this show.

just imagine how bad must your own favorite be that you have to create multiple new ids and downvote this show, just so that your own favorite's show can appear higher in rating (there also a few people only watching, but having multiple accounts to give high rate :P)

Holding the hairpin for 1 min in past 7 episodes, afterwards she didn't wear it again. 🤣 In every episode, we get 1 microsecond reaction that she may cares about the male lead. Seriously, giving 1 min of her inner fights and feeling isn't called spoonfeeding. The viewers aren't supposed to second guess what the characters are internally feeling.

It's complicated. She may forever thank him for saving her life, but that's no reason to stay with him. She knows he used her to get to Luwen and manipulated her these few months, so on the other side she doesn't even trust what his real feelings are. Thirdly, this all must be quite shocking for her, she needs to know the reasons they tried to kill her too. Basically, a separation is needed here to both to understand their feelings. Like she said, let's put these things apart and just move on apart. This is exactly what both need to do. A fake relationship can confuse many things including feelings. They need this time apart.

This show has not yet ended and still has 1.5billion plays on mango streaming site and others platforms like maoyan was 700million views on Monday.

This show isn't a super hit but it's definitely not a flop. In addition, zlh's roles have been appreciated by many.
