Just saw the trailer and I Actually Love It? Shocked? Yeah, very much so because I wasn't meant to like it for obvious Put Your Head On My Shoulder reasons...LOL But seriously though, I was very apprehensive about it, maybe because PYHOMS is still fresh on my mind and the leads there have a special place in my heart but something about this trailer just hooked me. Don't know if it's the height difference (which I can relate to as a shorty myself) or the ML voice which is soothing to listen to (is it dubbed?) or something else...just can't put my finger on. And Fair Xing...oh I like this actress so much. My pet-peeve though is Why oh Why is it 40eps. LONG!...
Side note- I notice how many Chinese actors (especially the young ones) are not versatile with their roles which would make more one dimensional in their acting. However, one thing I appreciate in some of them like Fair Xing is they play to their strengths even if it's one genre. She is definitely a really good actress in these idol romantic dramas.
The only pet-peeve I have for the Lost Tomb series is how they always have an ambiguous ending and you get another series but not a continuation to the last (as in the ending). Other than that, This series was my personal best Tomb series thus far. It just had the right balance of everything and chemistry between our Iron Triangle (especially Wuxie and Qiling) was amazing. Well done to the actors.
I'm so hyped up for this one... Two of my fav. actors leading this and Park Shin Hye kicking a**. It's always nice having the woman protecting the man from the Baddies...
So, Hye Ji unni has confirmed that she is indeed dating Hyun Bin...Congratulations to them But honestly I don't have any particular feelings about the news because, after Song Song couple I have kind of learned to curb my happy feelings on any celebrity couples.
That "fight" between Li Sheng and Yang Jin phahahaa I laughed so much! I'm now laughing and enjoying every scene…
Absolutely, more enjoyable now... Ah-Fei has certainly learned something from Xie Yun in the romace department and their flirting has gone to new heights. My fav scene is when they enter a clothing shop and XY pulls Ah-Fei close (I had to hold my breath thinking he was going to kiss her, as he should, lol) which was supposed to be romantic but ended up becoming a tumble with a curtain tangled with them....again meant to be romantic but I laughed so much. There has been moments where I really want them to just kiss (right now, I can take even a dead-fish kiss...that's how desperate I am) and nope , it doesn't happen...dammit Oh and Ah-Fei is becoming popular among the boys..hehe and she doesn't seem to care (each of her reactions to them is so hilarious)
Two things I have found Legend of Fei quite an enjoyable watch for me are: 1) Relatable characters and story (not always but sometimes) Believe it or not, but one thing I have found in most Wuxia dramas is the fantasy storyline which is amazing if done well but the problem is I could not relate (I just had to eneter their world to enjoy the story). So in Legend of Fei, I can actually relate with characters like Fei, Xie Yun, even Li Sheng(sometimes) and other side characters stories. Even with it's out of this world storyline and fighting scenes, certain scenes brings something real to learn. Eg. When Fei was told about being a great hero is not determined by how many people you kill but how many you save etc. Even the big baddie has a story and someone he cares about. Oh and how the villains turn on eachother or become friends if they share a common goal. There is no blind loyalty or forever friend and I love that, it shows a lot about humans. 2) The imperfections sometimes works on this drama's favour Tbh, watching ep 20-25, I was like what a beautiful mess this is. From strategy to fight scenes, it was not done perfectly and yet it made sense. I mean I would have doubted the whole series if Fei and Co. would come up victorious unscathed or be these genius strategist. The fact that everyone was rusty gave depth to their characters since they are novices to frontline war so it was so understandable for the villains to have the upperhand and nearly won. And I love that, Fei and co. joined hands to fight the villains which was a team effort not only the main leads (okay, Xie Yun saved the day but still).
This is my observation and probably what has made me continue watching this Wuxia series....
ppl say bad things abt Li Sheng should be ashamed of themselves, at least dude go for the kill when the enemy…
Well if those people have only watched up to ep 10 then I can understand their bad talk on Li Sheng (I also bad mouthed him a lot) but from ep 20 to now, he has done the most 360 character improvement. I was really impressed by him the most, not gonna lie and if he continues like this then he is definitely a character worth watching. At the same time I'm not saying FL is bad for using words instead of fighting (well I prefer her fighting tbh)...perhaps she is using "Gentleness is Strength" strategy huh
Someone tell me why Chuchu has never hid that necklace. Is she trying to get herself caught? Ugh...the stupidity!
Yep and on top of that she is a damsel in distress that Always needs saving. Each time I see that necklace dangling, I'm just like, girl are you advertising ?
The one flaw I am beginning to find difficult to ignore in this drama is lack of balance; like how everything revolves our leads with nothing else interesting to the rest of the characters. I don't know whose idea it was but you can't expect to make only the leads the flower that bloom and everyone else pale. In other words 2 characters cannot carry out a 51 ep drama alone. 2nd leads and Side characters are as important to the story. In the beginning, I was (still am) enjoying the leads chemistry etc. but I'm now feeling like the drama is trying too hard to convince us of their chemistry. Yeah yeah, they have chemistry, I get it ? so why can't we move on, it's 20+ ep. for pit sake. No offense, but I don't want to watch a 51ep drama about Chemistry. So far, I feel like I already know what there is about Fei and I'm still intrigued by Xie Yun. I'm just worried that, the story might take us to the palace if we are to learn about him and nope, I can do with no palace drama. The reason why many people (incl. myself) remember dramas like Eternal Love, Legend of Fuyao and Princess Agents etc is not only the chemistry of the leads but the nuanced 2nd leads or side characters who made the stories as compelling as the leads. And it's a matter of balance. I really hope this drama find some of this balance in the next ep.
P.S. Just a subjective opinion/observation with no ill-intention at all towards the drama. I just had to get this off my chest.
Gosh , I love ur comment and everything u said is true. But one thing is for sure tud needs to learn how to say…
Exactly and atm, Earth is the best person to break the curse for him. Earth is both his kryptonite and voice of reason (yeah, I will hold onto the latter for now) so if he were to approach him and like, Hey, you're LOVED, stop dropping your pants on everyone to fill the void that you think you have. I think he might listen. The only problem is Earth has lost his damn mind so he also needs a reality check. Them two are a definition of It's Complicated, hehe
Oh Stud, Sam and Earth, what can I say...It's like they are having a three-some without needing all 3 being in bed at the same time...hehehe But seriously though, in the beginning I thought the joke is on Stud (yeah, I hated him for what he did in S1) but now, I'm thinking, this joke has gone too far and Stud doesn't deserve it...I actually pity him now. The one I feel like slapping is Earth. It's one thing to go on a warzone/self-destructive behaviour but don't drag others with you especially if you're doing it intentionally. His way is now defeating the purpose. What would he gain by trumping on Stud's self-esteem. So yeah, he either needs to grow-up, get under someone else and leave Stud alone or get himself out of this situ and go find himself elsewhere. And I feel he is going to regret it, as he should because really that's not Earth style. And I hope he apologise to Stud. Looking at these two, I believe in closure for once. Because the elephant in the room is their feelings and addressing what happened from that kiss at school. More than Earth, Stud needs closure (more like a reality check) so he knows where he stand with Earth. Moral of the story (I know, I learn morals in unconventional ways huh) 1) Don't have a one or two (or many) night stands with your frenemy, it mess things 2) Oh never mess with Mr Nice guy because when they turn nasty, be ready for what's coming 3) When a one night stand wants 2nds or a relationship just remind him by saying "Count yourself lucky, you just happen to be at the right place at the right time" = Earth (best line ever)
P.S. Can't believe, I just defended Stud...? Well, somehow, I have grown fond of him and in this case he deserve to be treated better.
I'm really Enjoying Legend of Fei... Granted, it's a bit slow-paced but that's actually working well with me as I'm also slowly watching it with a calm heart. I'm just simply taking the stride with this one. My highlight moments are ofc, Ah Fei and Xie Yun moments. Omg, they are like cat and dog...always bickering (or shall I say, Ah Fei is a little mean to Xie Yun whilst the latter is like a loyal puppy) and it's so much fun to watch. I just like that it's clear they like eachother's company and XY has a crush on Ah Fei whilst Ah Fei is just like whatever but kinda like him too. Aww, they are just adorable alright... So I hope this drama doesn't pull a fast one on us and make our OTP separate for some eps. (you know they always do that) because I will be salty and also use my fast-forward button..hehe On a serious note though, I'm slightly worried because so far the plot has not progressed that much and we are nearing the middle of the drama (in terms of ep.) So I really hope upon hope that in the next half, the plot progresses in a balanced way and not feel rushing that the story loses sense. That's my little concern...
I keep reading.... this and that is very cheap or low quality this. Is that what's most important ? I remember watching The eternal love which had cheap nearly everything (that yellow chicken like feather thing the young prince repeatedly wore still haunts me till to this day) Buuut I Enjoyed it like never before. It was full of imperfections and yet became very perfect in my heart. So, what I'm saying is, although we all have different stuff we look for when watching a drama, it doesn't cause harm to be open minded and give a drama a chance with all it's entirety. You may still end up not liking it and that's fine or you might be pleasantly surprised ? (e.g. look The eternal love, now has a 3rd series because of it's success with cheap this and that, hehe)
Just watched ep 9 and I gotta say Li Shen can go and Die for all I care. There is being young and naive and then there is being plain stupid. He is the latter. How many people have to die for his stupidity ? Done Venting :(
