Errr…..that’s the drama I find very unwatchable im afraid. But it’s just me….this drama is neck and neck with LLTG in the polls!!

Btw I just read Chapt 143 of the novel. I can’t believe that CSS actually proposed marriage to 1st Prince at the 5 yr period!! Talk about getting over HBY already! How could she?? Hahaha. So it looks like YS is 4th choice!

Yes. I’ve noticed novel readers expressing some disappointment. I’ve been discussing with some of them and was swayed towards novel version that’s why I was asking for the link.

Regardless, I like to rewatch the CP sweet scenes and they are mostly in Part 2. 😁

Actually truth be told I’m also trying to manage my withdrawal symptoms by reading the novel. 😆😅 Sadly I’m a difficult-to-please drama viewer so I find some of the popular currently still airing drama super unwatchable! 🤣

I don’t think that’s a missing scene. It’s a bts becoz if you look closely in the background, the pp walking by are not in period costumes! These 2 were not acting, they’re just doing their usual frolicking around. 😆

Actually IMO the dangling at the tip of the pagoda roof was much more ridiculous. His and CSS’s body were both fully dangling in the air! At least on the cliff their body was sort of supported by the cliff side of you know what I mean. Plus he was holding on to rough chunks of rock/earth at the cliff bs slippery rooftile with no grip!!

Hmm….I watched the livestream but I don’t think ZLS mentioned anything about a missing begging scene….🤔

Hmm…. I on the other hand feel that the drama HBY really regretted his actions….maybe not at the beginning but definitely after the 5 yrs. He’s constantly saying that what he’s done is so terrible it’s unforgivable. Of course at the crypt he said outright that he indeed regretted his actions.

Hahaha well YS got what he deserved in the end. His biggest enemy is himself. Way too stubborn and fixated on CSS. I can imagine how miserable his life would be. I think he really loves CSS but in his weird selfish warped way….

He begged because he regretted his actions. He begged for forgiveness. Shdnt it be the other way? If he didn’t regret it he wouldn’t bother to beg.

Hahaha looks like you really detest YS. I have to say that his drama version version is quite bearable. He redeems himself towards the end. The only time I really didn’t like him was when he kept ignoring YY’s attempts to answer his question during his lesson. I tot he was such a horrible teacher and person there and felt bad for YY.

Wow…after reading your reply…I think I’d much prefer the drama stick close to the novel. It would’ve made the ending more satisfying. It would’ve made more sense of the line CSS said to HBY at the final scene when she praised him.

But it wouldn’t be easy to depict those complex emotions esp CSS’. ZLS may not be able to portray it. May need to employ the method of “thinking out loud” for viewers to understand.

Btw it’s weird that YS was by CSS’ bedside when she was close to death! Who’s he to be in an unmarried maiden’s bedroom ! 🤣 that’s worse than a tryst.

Yes same cast but they must must must resurrect the Empress! I don’t care if they have to add in a supernatural arc to introduce some magic that can raise Empress back from the dead!

- I find it interesting that CSS’ reaction to HBY’s return after the 5yr gap was that of shock. 😆 Shows she’s really been in denial mode all this while. Her actions after that is understandable, getting engaged with YS….to avoid confrontation with HBY. I suppose she was scared she can’t resist HBY because she still hasn’t forgiven him?

- oh I’d really like to see the scene where an unconscious CSS blurts out her desire to be with HBY. That’s the part that’s missing in the drama for me. I can’t see an ounce of CSS’ love for HBY after the massacre incident. So the reconciliation after the crypt/bunker explosion seemed abrupt to me. But I could still accept it becoz it was an extreme situation - a life and death situation. Btw did the novel have that part too? In the novel did CSS reconcile with HBY in the same way? Or was it at the scene right after their fight?

- You mentioned that “YS didn’t tell CSS what he heard”. What did he hear?

- I’m glad to know that the CSS in the novel was apologetic. I’ve always felt that her punishment towards HBY was a little over the top considering the “wrong” that he had done to her and under the circumstances then.

I’m not sure if I fully understand you tho….so for my ques: Why would HBY and 3P even think CSS still loved HBY based on her actions and behaviour? Your answer is HBY knew becoz of the way she looked at him. Also from his deduction about her behaviour based on the shrimp analogy.

3P doesn’t know much abt CSS’ feelings. He only kept tabs on HBY.
Am I correct so far?

In the drama the first time HBY saw how CSS was still looking at him was when they bumped into each other at the palace gate. Followed by CSS climbing a horse. Frankly I didn’t think I see love in CSS’ eyes 😆 More like pent up anger so much so she wanted to leave asap.

As for the shrimp analogy, is HBY likening himself to the shrimp — an item that CSS loves but pretends she hates? She said she hate the prawn becoz Empress was allergic to it. She didn’t want to make Empress feel bad abt depriving SS from something she loves. So in the case of HBY, because Empress was unhappy with him, SS then tells Empress she doesn’t love HBY so that the Empress wouldn’t feel bad about depriving SS of HBY?

The part you mentioned above abt Empress giving SS wealth protection, etc and SS start to think about what she wants is this at the start of the 5 year or after?

For the YS part do you mean that SS agreed to marry him because she thought she has the same personality as YS? That is strange for someone like SS who makes firm decisions all the time and knows what she’s doing.

Yup in modern times I totally agree with you. But ancient China in a palace/ political setting probably quite different. But at the end of the day we know that HBY learnt his lesson and he did change by putting her in charge of Guo Village rescue. He acknowledged CSS’ abilities (even though for that particular case I think he grossly overestimated her abilities for she would have surely perished in the fire had her entire family not appeared out of the blue to save the day).

Not that HBY is superior but she’s 15 and a palace/politics outsider. He’s 21 and grew up in the midst of all the palace/ political drama etc.

He picked CSS coz that’s the only girl he loved and he planned to marry her and give her a good life. Penkuin dying was unexpected. Cumulated but the untimely death of his aunt he was pushed to edge of the cliff (figuratively). It’s still a stupid thing to jump but it’s the right decision at that time because he was trying to save the lives of the whole Cheng family. From HBY’s perspective if he dies, CSS and family get to live albeit CSS in heartache but if he doesn’t jump, he CSS and her family will be executed.
