Everything flowed so well, the story is so believable and everyone is so normal and have good common sense which can be quite rare in C/dramas sadly. No annoying comedy relief characters who overacts, try too hard and act like fools. All supporting characters are well developed and likeable. No super villains that are out of whackly evil.
All the above also means this is not a dramatic drama with extreme highs and lows and spectacular plots. Maybe that’s why the number of viewers (over here) is comparatively low. But I really hope there’ll be more of such mellow and relatable dramas in the future. Well done NBY production team and cast!

Wow I agree with everything you wrote 100%!! 👏🏼I think FL’s backstory sufficiently justified her overly cautious disposition when it came to matters of the heart But because of ML’s unwavering devotion, consistent support & steadfast love for the FL, she had already crossed her self imposed safety zone quite early on in the drama. Her body language, her actions, the way she looked at him, etc….it was very obvious to me that she loved the ML all the while. That’s why I didn’t find it a slowburn romance.
Regarding FL’s acting, I disagree with many here that it was bland n boring. I would use the word “subtle” instead and aptly so too because of the situation. She explained all that to LN - a particularly timid-in-love afraid-to-be-hurt older sister meeting a dynamic, fearless and spunky little brother with a huge chance of turning her life upside down. So if this was how she felt, how could viewers expect the FL to act in the same way as the ML? If you ask me, I’ll say that FL’s character is much harder to play than ML’s.
Anyway I really enjoyed this drama. I agree it was dragged out a wee bit too much but I still want to keep all the mundane lovey dovey scenes in the last 2 episodes. Maybe it’d be more acceptable to the viewers at large if these scenes were all lumped into the epilogue together with the hair cutting scene ?
Hi. I started this drama late…..but I’m loving it!! First time watching ZYT and now I’m a big fan! She’s such a natural actress she doesn’t look like she’s acting at all! Love WL all this while so I’m really loving this pair! So convincing in their roles and the story is interesting, well paced and tastefully filmed. The supporting cast is also wonderful with well developed characters n backstories. Such an enjoyable show to watch.
I’m at Ep 31. Just saw some angsty trailers for 35 n 37….so I’m dreading it a little now….but I see lots of fluffy stuff too! I hope the fluff can cushion all the angsty blows going forward…… happy watching everyone….

Totally agree with you. It got to a point that it became ridiculous. I actually stopped after abt 10mins into Ep 42! This is after investing all the time to watch up to 41 Ep! When she self-sacrificed on Shunde my jaw literally dropped. I couldn’t believe it! ChangYi shdve thrown his arms in the air and shouted “What?! Again?! What the….?!” Hahahah Scriptwriter totally went out of ideas like thru out the drama. Such a pity tho. I gave it so many so many chances. It was quite an entertaining drama otherwise.

Yes I read that in the novel or somewhere!! In fact her name is the technical name one of the last string of that Chinese string instrument that I believe was played by HBY during the Empress’ birthday……AND the name of the 2nd last string of that instrument is Shao Gong! CSS’ twin brother! 🤓😁

Haha I actually checked it out… it’s a literal translation apparently - Shao means young/youth and Shang means trade/business. 😆😆 Yeah the lousy translation makes reading a bit tricky but it also provides some humour too. 🤣

Actually I don’t think it’ll be meaningful or enjoyable to skip part 1 and jump straight to 2.
Personally I enjoyed this drama a lot and 56 episodes felt too short (10 episodes too short to be exact 😆). To me it’s a very well made masterpiece but then everyone’s got different tastes so….. Just bear in mind that the romance is rather slow but because of that it’s also very convincing and rewarding.😃

Oh yes I’ll have to agree with you that dropping the sci-fi bits from the drama is a very wise decision given the final masterpiece that it became! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I’d be very very bothered too that the real CSS died and didn’t progress with the rest of the story. What’s the point of introducing her into the story in the first place then? 😁
But but but because I’m suffering from massive LLTG withdrawal symptom I don’t mind reading the novel with these new elements like it’s a whole new story but with the original cast of LLGT playing the same roles in my mind. Hahaha. That’ll be like round 2 of LLGT for me! I’m curious how they approach the modern girl within CSS. Does she think out loud with modern viewpoints and values I wonder…..one things for sure…if ever I travel back in time and enter CSS’ body, this CSS will Not be able to build or invent anything !! 🤣🤣

Really??!! I had no idea LLTG novel had time travelling, supernatural, body swapping elements!! The drama version is one of the most down to earth, homely, earthy and rustic dramas I’ve ever seen! There’s no mention whatsoever about the “modern girl” within CSS’ soul in the drama at all! So interesting!!
I’m actually kind of reading the Eng sub novel part but I sort of skipped the early chapters….maybe I shd revisit……
