Is it just me or did anyone else find that scene in the shoe shop odd? - 2 people walk into a shoe shop looking for a pair of white sneakers. The shop assistant recommends a pair and MJ puts it on. She walks around the shop and likes it a lot, but then CY didn’t. So, the shop assistant then goes to them and say “How about this pair of 5 inch high tanned leather stilettos?” Absolutely perfect alternative to a pair of white sneakers! 🤷♀️😆🤪
There were some odd bits……small ones…nothing too serious…. Like I really like Uncle Zhou & Wen but I think it is so odd that they became so close to CY and MJ. Maybe the novel developed this relationship better?
I also think it’s odd that Zhang would trust CY enough to let him handle his criminal dealings when CY is so close to Zhou and Zhou is so openly investigating Zhang.
Just before Wen died, she asked CY to hide some stuff in the cistern…. Were they of any use later?
That weird scene when Tuli visited Cen. What was that all about?
That scene towards the end when MJ was thrown down from a height and CY saved her by hanging onto the rope that she was dangling from…. Why did he have to burst all his veins to pull her up when she was like probably only 3 feet from the ground already by then? Wouldn’t it be easier to just lower her down? 😅🫢😆

I love their relationship! It is so positive…deep down…. On the surface, at that moment (of the back hug), the relationship wasn’t radiating it’s golden positive energy, not because there isn’t any…. It was all still there, deep down.
However, this positivity & goodness was temporarily concealed by a lot of dust and dirt created solely by our silly notty CY. So now MJ has returned with mops, brooms & detergent….for CY to clean up his own creation while she supervises & nudges him along side. Once the cleaning is all done, the pure golden rays of the epitome of relationships will shine through & brightly again ☀️☀️😁

As for the mercury scene, I shared the same sentiment as you - broken up pieces of silver globules joining back together again….but then I didn’t see the symbolic merger at all….it was coz the plastic bag containing the mercury was too old and blurry or I was watching the drama on crappy resolution.
So, I very quickly came to another conclusion - CY & MJ will fight the toxic situation (ie mercury is poisonous) together and contain it (in a plastic bag…hahah).

I thought it was rather abrupt given that they’ve just met after 6 years of complete absence and were still in that awkward phase…. and also considering they were not the touchy-feely type of people before their split….certainly for CY the hardened weather beaten guy, he doesn’t look like he can initiate a back hug….. So when I first saw that scene, I attributed it to a very rare editing error… 😅
