Yes. And it’s such an unbelievable arc to either make CSS or the viewers even suspect there’s something going on between HBY and LJT.
I always felt that CSS always had the upper hand over HBY because she had believable suitors. HBY feels threatened. But CSS’s love rival are like the worst bunch of ladies you can’t even count them as rivals.

- they hadn’t muted her screams so quickly. Let her scream longer, the girl needs it, she’s like in regret level higher than HBY at that point
- when she runs towards him in the end, she shdve been kept her tear and mucus stained swollen eyes etc look. she looked cleaned up and too composed after such a shock.
- after the hug, her first line shd be some cheesy thing like “I tot I’d never see u again” Cheesy but totally expected under that kind of shock recovery moment instead of “hey how did you escape?”
I don’t know about the rest of you but there was a brief moment in Ep 56 I wanted to slap HBY! (dodges eye daggers from HBY/WL fans🔪🔪) Major spoiler coming up….
It’s that part when CSS n the black army we’re all about to be BBQed at the village and our friend was chit chatting with the enemy somewhere else…🙄😆 And it doesn’t help that HBY already talks at snail speed. Plus I don’t know if it’s deliberate or it’s an editing overlook, first we see the scene in the blazing village with CSS and team heavily attacked and looking very resigned to fate, the next scene is HBY telling the enemy “I trust CSS, she can handle the situation” then we return to the fire scene again and see almost everyone on the verge of being killed then back to HBY, long pausing and chatting with the enemy…..and this went on for quite sometime…. I was like “Just shut up and kill the guy and go save NN!!!”

YS did ask SS to be engaged to him but it never happened. In the very end he recognised that he’s not ideal for SS coz he doesn’t love deeeeeeply like SS & HBY does.
IMO HBY more than make up for the hurt he’s caused SS.
I loved it, and I loved the angst, but the last few episodes felt rushed to me. And i'm sad about it. Although…
I know right. But still sans the unbearable bits like LJT gory bits and YS engagement and definitely add in the epilogue. Do another 5 year happy ever after lapse!
Rewatched some episodes to get certain details and the more I watch the more I respected the drama choice of not…
I agree with you about dropping the fighting part. I think the whole perspective changed. I didn’t read the novel but just what the novel readers here shared. It seems in the novel the relationship bw CSS n LBY is different. LBY’s character is also different. Darker and scarier. In the drama LBY is on 100% full redemption mode making him quite pitiful which is good…but it also made CSS a bit hard hearted although we know she’s not really. But I have to constantly remind myself that.

Don’t worry. We are spared from that horrible LJT arc. It is still there but very watered down. The drama just tells us that lady hung around LBY for much of the 5 year without showing us the gory details but LBY just rejects her obviously and outwardly like he was rejecting a rotten apple.
What a stubborn girl!!!! Poor guy!!! But everything is understandable and justifiable.. just that I find myself having to go through the events in my head again to find the justification…to .remind myself she actually still loves him. It’s not that obvious from the drama….I think it’s because there is too little time to show us all that. Her inner thoughts and struggle.
The stuff I’ve read here that the kind novel readers here have shared about what she went through helped a lot. For example the falling sick for a year and almost dying because of the abandonment and revealing her true emotions towards LBY during her semi conscious state… Just the fact that she was very ill and almost died was casually mentioned in the drama, not shown. Also things like seeing LBY’s scar of an almost fatal incident of saving YS’s family. That too was only very casually told by YS to SS with no visual impact of the injury for SS. There are many other examples showing SS’s deep but hidden love for LBY in the novel but in the drama it’s just hidden. I felt the portrayal of SS is too cold vis-à-vis her feelings towards LBY. I wonder if it’s because the production team been reading reviews about anger over LBY’s earlier actions that they feel a need to make him really suffer to redeem himself. But I suspect it’s probably because of the lack of episodes, they can’t balance it well leaving little time to show us how SS still loves LBY.
