Thanks for the explanation. I still believe she was treated cruelly. Considering she was a lowly concubine, she was most likely forced to give her baby to the couple that needed a son. If she had been allowed to raise him, he would have been lower class, but it wasn’t a life or death situation. My family was dirt poor when I was growing up but my aunt was rich. She tried to adopt my younger sister since “you already have 4 kids and she’ll have a better future with me.” Give me a break. I’m surprised my parents didn’t smack her in the face.

I’m up to ep 16 and one thing that really bothers me is how they treat the concubine (I think her name is Qin). They’re always helping and supporting women and yet they threw out a member of their own family after she risked her life to save her own son??? Am I missing something????? I don’t understand why they’re so cruel to her and why the other lady is raising her kid.
