There’s got to be someone strong to do something. So it’s one of the sons. I’m leaning towards 2nd son. I wondered if his mother was concubine Yang.
It’s easier yet only up to Ep8 , still have lots of clues to uncover, may change my mind when more evidence comes in.
The first son is also suspicious, if he were the Yang’s son then he could be the one. -when Cai He was escorting FL out, he stopped them and seemed to be talking to the maid Cai He, not FL -his mother was very nervous regarding the body in the well and when concubine Yang was mentioned -his wife thinks he’s having an affair. So he’s out with anothe woman could be Cai He

In Ep 13, 14 the chemical formula Mg + ZnSO4 = MgSO4 + Zn Magnesium (Mg) is Mei in Mandarin, which is the same sound as Mei, beauty. Zinc (Zn) is Xing in Mandarin, which is the same sound as Xing, the Heart.
So the pun is Your Magnesium (Mg) “Beauty” took my Zinc (Zn) “Heart” away. As in the formula, Mg took the Sulfate (SO4) away from Zinc.

No, I think this drama meant to make fun of drama tropes and as you pointed out many famous scenes from other dramas. Even the FLs maids were named Summer and autumn , like the 4 maids of FL in Blossom in Adversity (she named her maids after the 4 seasons). They used the same actress who played the maid named Bao Xia (summer) here.
