They should probably changed the title of the drama to SRQ’s sacrifices and romance with the Grand Princess the way they made the 2nd ML as the lead of this drama.

Why wound they give a green actor such a big complex role that he could not carry is beyond me.

She did show she care for him, mostly because she’s dependent on his guidance and support. The way she lighted up seeing SRQ , clearly indicated she’s not that into ML romantically. Understand she’s afraid to show affections. And probably the script wrote wanted to drag out this 3 way triangle for as long as they could. I just don’t see her sincerity yet. At least not as invested as the ML

What I read was that he was Ji Su Ran’s cousin. He pursued her then he dumped her to marry someone else. He came back to find her after she got married to Jiang and was doing well. He used her again. That’s why she got crazy and tired to burn him. He was not the diviner in the novel.

I didn’t read the novel either but I saw some sources on the novel.in the novel it was teacher Xiao (the zither teacher at the female academy) who drugged XFF instigated by the princess to ruin XFF reputation. Xiao was alway jealous of XFF because she played better than she did.

I think in the drama they all happened in the same night. XFF was drugged during dinner. Mother and sister planted the ruffian on the bed. XFF was chained in the shed. Then SYR took her away. The ruffian was silenced. XFF did not know at the time who ruined her reputation. Only that SYR wanted to kill her and there was someone else behind it as well.

In the novel it happened over several days.. they tried to poison XFF first, she didn’t die, then princess had her maid strangle her.

Yes SYR was truly a pathetic loser as XFF said, she wouldn’t keep someone like him in mind. She’s moved on 👍

It’s because SYR’s reputation was tarnished for having an unfaithful wife if he allowed her to live. That’s why he said that the Princess forced his hands by scheming with his mother and sister to ruin XFF’s reputation. Princess knew that. SYR turn turned around to play the compassionate husband who forgave the wife’s wrong doing by hosting a grand funeral for all to see (easier to forgive a dead wife) and got sympathy from people.
