I had a feeling the writer forgot about the weak immune system... it was just... glazed over and forgotten in the ending... a bit unrealistic...

I usually like ost or at least fine with it, but this time I have to agree. Its just LOUD. Loud in a scene that its not one bit enjoyable and not one bit fits the mood and the onky ourpose it served was to be loud. Generational trauma be like that. A lot of chinese parents act like her. So us Chinese watching the show, we're kinda used to it. "I was treated that way, our kids should get a taste too" mentality.

If they followed the novel, it would have done a better job at explaining her change. Bc in the book, YunShen had a surgrey where he had a high chance of duying on the surgery table. Meanwhile, Jiang ShuNing was outside having the worst time a mother can have. So YunShen surviving, she decided to be content with life and accept YunShen's wish bc she finally realize her son probably doesn't have long to live and might die in his next surgrey. Through this surgrey, she finally realize YunShen need this last bit of peace and happiness in his life

If I remember correctly, FXZ and GRR never had a child in the novel. (Maybe behind the scene) Instead, YunShen and Zhu Jiu had a daughter name Fu NanXing. NanXing as in Southern Star. This is why in the ending in the novel, they said "Baby, you are daddy and mommy's brightest star."
