I just noticed your first words "So I'm on ep 50".... oh, I can understand now!!)) Just move on to 51 and you…
Lolol....I've been on a roller coaster ride with this couple and the constant misunderstandings. A lot has to do with Sifeng not telling Xuanji everything and always wanting to protect her so he keeps so many important info to himself so not to hurt her. He's the ultimate sacrificing boyfriend. I tried to watch an many eps as possible on my day off but had to cut it off at ep 50. I hope to finish by 2 days ;)

So I'm on ep 50 and couldn't help but read the recaps for the whole drama because I hated all these misunderstands between the couple ; Sifeng's constant sacrifices and sufferings for Xuanji; the manipulations of Hao Cheng. I was loving this couple and their incredible chemistry and I was really admiring Cheng Yi's incredible acting throughout this drama mirrored by Crystal Yuan's acting too. Then I read that in a mini concert between the cast, Cheng Yi totally iced Crystal Yuan and was so detached from the whole concert that it felt like Sifeng & Xuanji had a bad breakup. Yes...I know it's just a fictional couple but when you get so invested in a couple and their chemistry in a drama, you would like to think that they liked each other in real life. Unfortunately I heard that it was Chen Yi's company that was responsible for him being cold towards his costar. If this is true, then his company did him a big disservice in tainting his beloved image from the drama. I was a little disappointed in what transpired in this show between Chen Yi and Crystal Yuan and I admit that it influenced me a bit going back to watch the drama. But I'm going to detach from the actors and just concentrate on the absolute undying love between these two in the drama and enjoy this amazing love story.

No shes not a transgender. At least not in the novel. She is a tomboy and initially she does not take care of…
Thanks for the explanation. I figured that much - that she was misunderstood because she was a tomboy. I can't wait to watch this when it is all subbed!

What in trailer indicated that?
I'm going to wait until more eps are subbed. I'm in the middle of watching What's wrong with Secretary Kim and the next drama I want to watch is Love and Redemption (waiting for it to be all subbed too). I have such a long list of dramas I want to watch and just don't have enough time in the day to do it! Lololol..

I was a little shocked because they mentioned transgender...not that I'm opposed to it but it's not normally a subject that they address in Asian dramas. I can't wait to see it along with the many other dramas on my to watch list!

Did you watch the trailer yet? His friends at school question his attraction to the female lead making it seem like she is a boy. It starts at .59 in the trailer. I think it's because she comes across as athletic and strong and tomboyish but not sure why the students think she is "transgender". Anyway also in the trailer, the male lead tells her that he doesn't care if she's woman or man but he still loves her. Go watch the trailer again. I may be wrong in interpreting the trailer or if this is the suspense they are trying to create. It still looks interesting because I like Riley Wang and I love Wan Peng from My Girlfriend is an alien.

I don't get it. The trailer makes it seem like the FL may be a transgender??? Was this just a rumor going because she was a tomboy? I don't get it. Is she female or male? I haven't watched it yet but the trailer makes it look like a story about a transgender. Does anyone know?

I saw on Tencent app, there are only 56 episodes in total.
Thanks for the info but it’s still too long! I’ll see what happens if I have time

On Strong Girl Bong Soon Sep 8, 2020
I just finished watching this drama and I truly loved it. I loved Do Bong Soon as a superwoman and being torn between her first love Gook Doo and new love Min Hyuk. I wouldn't mind having to make that choice however difficult that may be. It was a mix of campy comedy, cheesiness, mystery, suspense, woman empowerment and romance. I can't get over how super adorable and handsome Park Hyung Sik was in this drama and he matched cuteness with Park Bo Young! They made a super adorable couple. It was also a story about how timing can be super critical in realizing love which ended is such bittersweet angst for one of the characters. The "villains" in this drama were comedic foils with their ineptness in their criminality. I loved the ending but really wished for more especially more screen time with the couple together. It would really be nice if there was a sequel or Part 2 revolving the further adventures of the couple. They never concluded what happened between Min Hyuk and his father and family and who eventually got the company business? They left that storyline up in the air. I want to see Gook Doo get a happy ending and also want to know what happened with Bong Soon's brother and bestie.

Title Strong Girl Bong Soon Spoiler
his older brother whom he thought liked him..
It was his middle brother (of the three) ...the one that saved him from the others whenever the other two would pick on Min. When he heard that the father would pass the company to Min, he couldn't see how his younger brother who was such a coward in the past could run the family's business.....even though adult Min was currently running his own gaming company and it was successful.

Oh...and I forgot to mention that this romance basically incorporates lots of drinking and alcohol. There were hardly any eps where the female lead isn't drinking and getting drunk. And the actress is pretty good in breaking out in tears at the drop of a hat. She cries at anything but mostly due to all the dumb and stupid things she does and then facing criticism from everyone around her especially the "mother in law". The beginning of the episode will tell you exactly what kind of person the female lead is. She has absolutely no common sense or pride and will often create scenes which was one of the things that attracted the male lead to get her to act as his gf to deter his mom from trying to get him married. And what adult male lets his mom blackmail him into marrying someone? He is a plastic surgeon who makes good money but is threatened by his mom that if he doesn't get married he will lose the home he loves. I would have just called her on it...and if he loses his home...yes...I know this home has a special meaning to him but to allow his mom to threaten him?.....NO....then go and buy another one....a better one!

One of those annoying romances where the female lead is this self sacrificing people pleasing martyr who wants to take the blame for every thing that goes wrong around her. The male lead is too stubborn to say what he really feels and allows his mom and others to judge his life. There are so many misunderstandings in this rom.com and so much stubbornness on the parts of the leads that if they had just talked things out, the drama would have concluded much earlier with less stress and aggravation on the parts of viewers. There is the typical conniving ex that tries her hardest to get the male lead back and the constant rejections on his part doesn't deter her. The second leads are always rearing their ugly heads and interfering with the couple. But despite this, I kept watching because I wanted to see the leads finally find their way to love despite the constant push and pulls, stops and starts between the two. There are funny hilarious laugh out scenes which kept me going from this frustrating romance. Also there were a lot of inconsistencies in this drama which indicated to me that the editing process for this drama left a lot to be desired. The incident with the chicken and ginseng soup pot was unbelievable; the female lead would constantly leave in the middle of her job to go to the beck and call of the male lead's mom and basically drop whatever she was doing to answer to the "mother in law" - that was simply ridiculous. At what point does one just say "NO!" I have about 4 more eps to go so it better be good to justify all my aggravation watching this!

I loved this drama and how it ended. But totally not happy with the pairing of Tae and Shi Ah. Shi Ah didn't deserve the adorable Tae with her bitchy personality and she didn't redeem herself in my eyes at all. She needed to be on her own to reflect how she could be a better person in the future. Tae deserved someone better! I don't know why people didn't think there was chemistry between LMH and JJH - I thought they were totally adorable together and I loved their acting here. Some of the storyline plots were unrealistic but then again this is a love story between a human and a "mermaid" so reality has to be suspended here. I loved LMH here as I did when he was in King Eternal.
