I guess that’s why most people here prefer Kdramas over Western dramas. We want the FL to be sure about the ML,…
I wasn´t surprised how the couples turned out. I just didn´t know that it´s normally the ML who always gets the FL. These dramas weren´t that clear who was the ML/FL at the start. But beeing an experienced reader and drama watcher (mainly western dramas at that point) the ending wasn´t that left center in comparision to what I already watched. It was only different from all the kdramas I watched after. LOL
That said, I really love kdramas. I also enjoyed some cdramas and jdramas recently. I would´t say eastern dramas are better than western though. I appreciate that it´s almost always just one season in eastern dramas and I think the koreans do great romances, horror and slice of life dramas while the chinese do very good historical dramas. But IMO western dramas are better in the thriller genre and suspence genre. And regarding fantasy - I watched great one from many different countries.

Ironically three of my first kdramas were Love alarm, Itaewon class and Start up. In all of them it wasn't clear who would be endgame. Imagine my surprise when I watched more kdramas and found out that these were the exception.
I also wasn't used to the unwavering feelings of a ML. I found that rather cute.

Of course not. Each culture has their tropes. But it never hurts to play with them on purpose. I like kdramas too. But sometimes couple ships can get into the way of creative storytelling. And sometimes they throw a couple at you that doesn't make sense only for whatever purpose.

Western romcoms are big "No" for me. They fall in love just like that, they fall out of love just like that. Very…
I disagree if you don't mind. I'm not refering to Hollywood movies but TV shows. There are many examples where it's unclear how the loveline ends, f.e. Vampire Diaries, Dawsons creek, O.C. California, Never have I ever...
But of course there are also many examples for the traditional route.
Nevertheless I'd love to see something unexpected no matter if eastern or western.

Title Head over Heels Spoiler
This is literally the first time where I'd prefer the FL ending up with her bestie. If they take the love triangle route, which wasn't necessary cause I would have loved them staying friends, they should try something new. In western dramas you'll never know who is endgame. It would be nice if kdramas would give the SML a chance too. The whole concept of ML and SML is unnecessary. Let them be protagonists who end up at unexpected places.
That said, it's a good show with interesing characters. I adore the FL and her mother and her friend. The ML is okay but the least interesting part so far. He also doesn't look like a pupil which doesn't help.

Title Game of True Love Spoiler
This is a soap opera. Important developments happen off screen, the plotline is ridiculous and the family tree hilarious. I watched it because I really like the ML. But he deserves better dramas. He's a very capable actor. The FL wore very distracting make up and clothes that made her look less natural. She went everywhere in high heels and cocktail dresses except for a few scenes. But all in all it was a nice daily watch. I wouldn't watch it again though.

this is so good, it deserves a better rating, it's like something in the rain without the heavy drama and evil…
Currently watching it and exactly what I thought. The main leads are stronger and the people around them act like real people would.

I really like the actors and their roles. But somehow the story seems to fall apart in episode 9. Unfortunately I think I'll drop this for now. The backstabbing nurse and the sister of the SML are way too soapy for a slice of life story like this.

I really liked the last episode with the shift to mirae and her story. I always liked Ryu Kyung Soo. He's a great actor. It's so nice to see him in a romantic role again. He's like the guy next door you didn't think you needed. I like the nickname Mr. Strawberry. Lol
I also loved the main couples story. Park Jin young is one of my faves and I have watched many of his dramas this year. He always nails it. I also think he's the most suitable ML for Park Boyoung after Park Hyung sik. I love their shyness towards each other. I also think that the younger versions are stellar. I saw both if them as support before. Young Hosu looks indeed like Kim Wobins little brother.

Finished all 8, still the same thought, I really like it. I guess it's about the preference and also expectations.…
It was the same for me. I like this one and dropped TY although I liked the first episodes and the actors.

Unfortunately I agree that the series turned less entertaining with the whole Japan arc. It's a pity. The cast is so great.

I pity the guy who ended up with Mi ji as Hosu's replacement... He is such a green flag.
My guess is that he's the guy with the hamster tatoo.

Can we give some credit to Park Jinyoung and his acting? he's always adapting so well to the characters he plays…
Love him too. It's my fourth kdrama with him this year and he was great in all of them.

waaait what was the Yumi's cell's reference?
I thought that showing her brain react to different men was a reference. It also reminded me of the animated movie of Pixar. But maybe I'm wrong.

I think using the female lead here to discuss the alcoholism in k society is a good use of sexism :) they are…
I agree with you. There are much more shows internationally which adress male alcoholism than female. The public gaze only shifted in recent years towards female alcoholics... especially the functioning kind. In SK I think adressing this issue is still new. In this show there's not only the FL who is addicted to alcohol. It's basically her whole family as well as the doctor himself. He seems to be sober though. In most kdramas the story is portrayed through the FLs point of view... especially in romances... so I wouldn't say it's sexist that she's the main alcoholic here.

Seriously... I love everything about this show. The Yumi Cells reference was great as well as the fact that the FL is a Basketball pro and last but not least the hilarious epilogues with their meta references. It's also a plus that I like all the characters flaws and all.

You are spot on here. I live in germany and here it's booze too. But daydrinking and drinking after work isvvery much frowned upon here. Still alcohol is the most socially aproved drug here.
