I didn’t watch his earlier works AFT, UL and SOYP, but judging by how he was in AMA, TL versus WOL, BCE yes he has grown a lot in acting. A testament to the wide range of scripts/ characters/ directors/ cast that he has worked on/with. He is not tied down to one genre.

Also to add to what you’ve written, let’s not forget that anytime ML concedes to FL, he’s got a ‘better’ plan cooking (in his brain). Let’s not act like there are no men irl that act like that for their love interest. She was also his simp at some point. She was even the first one that got jealous (when ML was saving PM’s daughter from falling off the balcony) FL helped him in many ways that the fake Cui Lin began to question FLs plans/loyalty etc. Succinctly put, they both simped for each other, it was just portrayed differently.
Why is the new drama completely confidential? A lot of people know it’s yi ou chun. Is it not the next project?
Won’t be surprised it’s with iQIYI. Could be shy it’s a secret 😂 I was thinking his ‘comeback’ to iQIYI would be an urban romance / serious drama. IQIYI has not had any luck recently in that department.

Also don’t forget to add that the BL drama was produced by Huanyu, XK’s agency so if MR airs at the same time as FUED then the competition is going to be stiff with a lot of trashy marketing against Xu Kai. Also if FUED or any of the dramas that are rumored to air around that time is for 2 platforms this might be a repeat of WOL vs SoKP.
