"Unfortunately, I don't think this drama is for me." you can't say it if you don't pass the first ep, 'cause that…
Hm. But it's not slow and boring. It's a mess because it tries to do too many things at once - too much happens. It does a poor job setting up the scene.
It is painfully obvious that the story is from a webtoon that is not well adapted to this new media. The ML is a good actor. My problem is the writer. And maybe the director, but I'm not as familiar with directing as I am story construction. First impressions are essential - they must introduce the characters, the setting, the themes, the conflicts that will persist for the entire narrative, all in a coherent manner. The first episode, while chronological, did not, to me, feel coherent.
Good for you that you were able to enjoy what this drama had to offer. I wrote this small negative comment because I wasn't going to stick around long enough to be able to write a balanced review.
Episode 4 was the most fun. Tbh, I don't really care that much for the FL. She's just not compelling (I don't hate the actress, but I don't love her either, I do think she wasn't well casted, if she needs to pass as a man sometimes though) but the ML is wonderfully complex. The actor is really carrying this drama for me. And the 2ML is actually more interesting than I expected as well - I don't think I'll like his character, but that's beside the point.
I wanted to like this drama. But the first episode was all over the place. It took me 3 tries to even finish it. Unfortunately, I don't think this drama is for me.
Coffee Prince is the only kdrama I have seen where the girl really looked and behaved like a boy… That was believable
For all its flaws, King's Affection does a pretty convincing job. (Park Eun Bin is a brilliant actor, she carried that show)... This drama does not do a good job, but I have seen worse.
This could be bad (Park Min Young's dramas are usually more miss than hit for me) but it also sounds pretty fun. Could be good, so I'll give it a shot.
Ah... oh well, guess I won't be watching it. I've subscribed to that a few times before with the intention of watching dramas, and they've either been behind a second paywall, or just, "sorry, not available in your country" - actually, not sure if there's even one kdrama available on there here. Is there any way to check before handing over money?
Difficult to find legally outside Asia as no legal streaming service has picked it up yet except Disney +, and…
Yep. Odd that the US gets overlooked. It's such a big market. I'm in AU, and we often get overlooked (though it's improving) because the population just makes it not worth it, I think.
