I first watched this in 2018. It was 9.2 at the time, soon dropping to 9.1. But ratings are popularity contests,…
I'm not sure. I'm a much harsher judge these days than I used to be, and I tend to rate things lower now. (or I would, if I cared about ratings on this site)...
But ratings here are very much... well, some dramas I consider train-wrecks (which I won't name, because I've been attacked for my opinions) are rated very highly, probably in part because of the cast. And their mystifying popularity.
But people might give higher ratings to something they love because they want it at the top of the list, and if the average rating is gradually sliding higher, your argument does make sense.
Line of Duty, a bbc show about police officers who root out corruption in the police force (and are thus very unpopular)... each season has an independent arching story-line with recurring main characters. It's pretty good, though I haven't seen the later seasons.
From memory, it has a similar vibe to Stranger (if you take into consideration that one is Korean, the other English.) It's been about 4 years since I watched it though.
Unfortunately, aside from those episodic who-dunnits my grandma reliably had playing in the background every time we visited, I haven't seen many other British detective shows. So I can't rec any more, but they do exist.
Nope! There's no romance. But their friendship is so heart-warming. This drama does not need romance to make it good. It is absolutely brilliant without romance. In fact, romance would ruin it, because the main lead is established as a character who... isn't particularly interested in relationships.
To elaborate how good is this show:Since, with time MDL users have accustomed to give higher ratings as if they…
I first watched this in 2018. It was 9.2 at the time, soon dropping to 9.1. But ratings are popularity contests, and this hasn't got romance (doesn't need it) so. I think a lot of people heard how great it is, watched it, and weren't impressed (maybe they don't like the genre), so they rated it lower.
If I watched this again, I'm not sure if I'd give it 10/10... but I've already seen it 3 times, so the tension isn't really there anymore.
Just finished the episode 2, well thay really took me by surprise...Are they going for a dexter vibe i wonder?
I'm pretty sure it's just a red herring. They're almost too obvious. Though it'd be great if the ML is somehow involved. This actor is one of my favourites, so he could pull it off.
This would be much more enjoyable if I could actually emotionally engage with the characters. But I've tried many times to finish this, and after a couple episodes, it feels like a chore. Even though this drama is well made with great performances, there's just something about it....
y'all comments about the female lead are BRUTAL wowhow's your internalized misogyny?? i have this lil feeling…
(Keep in mind I'm only halfway through) But I think in part the reason she receives so much hate ... is because her character doesn't really add much to the story. There's not much tension about her actually catching the anti-heroes, so all she does is take up screen time to very little effect. I like the actress and I like the IDEA of her character, I just think the writers didn't do her justice in the execution.
Also comments on this site have so much double standard. MLs can get away with murder, but FLs just need to make a couple mean comments for the pitchforks to come out.
why do yall hate the sml so much, yeah he's around the fl a lot but you can tell by her behavior that she's not…
Because he is displaying a lot of red flags. He is not taking her very clear "No." seriously. He seems to be the kind of person who can get nasty if being nice doesn't work. He is the kind of person I would steer clear of irl. Therefore, I really don't like him.
Another thing is I hate love triangles, and the ML and FL have a very pleasant dynamic. So the SML is to me, just a waste of precious screen time. I'd much rather focus on the leads, or explore the interesting side characters.
I love this drama. Kind of. The first few eps were absolutely brilliant. When it was airing, I couldn't wait for the subtitles, so I watched it raw first, then again when the subs came out. But.
This should have been 12 eps. The magic of the opening episodes... does not last. In the second half, the pace slows and the story drags.
Watching now, for the 3rd time. Hopefully I don't drop it again. I really want to finish it for once.
This drama is good, I'm surprised that in 2019 it made little to no noise. It's one of the few series of Lee Junho…
I watched it while it aired, and yeah, it was pretty quiet, though not silent. It was also kind of hard to track down. I um, had to resort to less-than-legal means to watch it, because I just couldn't find it licensed anywhere. Dramas make much bigger waves when they reach more audiences.
Have you watched up to episode 3? Because the second woman was murdered by someone else, and then the first murderer got arrested for another crime worth a life sentence. Arranged by the ML. That scene halfway through ep 3 never fails to give me chills.
I actually appreciated that for once, there was a lawyer defending someone who... well, didn't deserve that defence. It feels unrealistic when the protagonists only ever defend people who aren't guilty. And of course, if they're defending, they need to do their job.
Also this first case was used to establish that it is evidence, not guilt, that matters according to the law. Which is relevant to the main case of the whole drama.
Must be the oversaturation of legal dramas, but I'm not enjoying this. The ML has great comedic timing, I'll give him that, but the story feels quit boring. None of the other cast members are interesting.
I know this wants to keep the suspense thrilling but at the same time it's ruining the show every thing is happening…
Well, I agree Juhee is the most boring, but she just gave all her money away, her father is dead, and her brothers are a waste of space. She is going to be in for a huge wake-up call.
