Okay, so I'm on chapter 18 now and I've noticed a few more differences in the novel. It would seem that in the…
Okay, I'm on chapter 70. The story is going mostly like in the drama. So, Liao Ting Yan has lost her memory and is living with the enemy, referring to him as father. Only in the novel, she think he's her actual father, not an adopted one. She finds out through her 'father and aunt' secret conversation that she and Sima Jiao were lovers, but like in the novel, she thinks his lover is the original owner of her body, not her. Sima Jiao got her back just like in the drama, and they got back together.
One thing I must say, some scenes in the drama are better than in the novel. For example, the scene with her in the pool asking him if he's ever been to her soul mansion and him saying, yes, very often. That pool scene is not in the novel. She did ask him that question, but they were both in a room when she did. Also, the snake is finally human, but it was Sima Jiao that turned him human so that Liao Ting Yan could get a son to raise. We also don't have that stupid love triangle trope, and the whole demon overlord trying to kill Sima Jiao by using Liao Ting Yan. Black Snake doesn't have a love story as of yet.
The part I'm at now is Sima Jiao's rebirth in the mortal realm. In the drama, his rebirth into the mortal realm is not really clear. However, in the novel, Liao Tiny Yan stopped his soul from purifying the mountain fire for her and she caught his soul and sent it for rebirth. She tried to look for people with his bloodline as rebirth can only happen if the persons share the same blood, or their souls match each other. However, because his soul is so strong, she couldn't find any in the demon or celestial realm, so she wrapped his soul is special magic and let it go find the perfect pregnant woman. Because of this, she didn't know in which realm he was rebirthed in.
I really like Sima Jiao in the book. He truly loved only her. He did everything to make her happy. He gives her whatever she asked for even if she whisper it in passing. He is not as nice to others as in the drama, not even to the snake. He tolerated the people around her because of her, but he truly only enjoys her company. He's like a cold, emotionless psychopath whose heart only beats for her. And you just can't hate him because you can understand why he is the way he is. Everyone, and I mean everyone except her, wanted something from him. And they all would kill him at the slightest moment of weakness.
P.S. Sorry for writing in different tenses. Lol, my brain kept switching as I was writing. Off to read the remaining chapters.
Okay, so I'm on chapter 18 now and I've noticed a few more differences in the novel. It would seem that in the…
On chapter 48, the novel and the drama are still following the same storyline. I can see that the drama writes tried their very best to not change anything. However, what little they did changed is what made the drama feel disjointed. At this point in the novel, Sima Jiao just forced Liao Ting Yan to kill. However, it wasn't the sect leader's son, but a lover of the woman she is currently impersonating, who touched her inappropriately.
What I like about the novel it the portrayal of Sima Jiao. In the novel it shows that he's a man who never experienced love or care from others, so, he didn't know how to love or care for her. He knows that he feels differently towards her, but he doesn't know why or what his feelings are. He does everything to his liking and is struggling to understand why it is that she doesn't like certain things. It clearly shows that he brought himself up and he had no one to teach him right from wrong.
I might update more on this novel, but I also might not.

On chapter 40, so far the story is mostly going the same as in the drama. However, the scene in the drama when Sima Jiao snatched the food from Liao Ting Yan's mouth is kind of different in the novel. In the novel they got caught kissing by the guy who flirted with her in the class room. The plot points in the novel is far more complex and well thought out than in the drama. In the novel Sima Jiao is far more attentive to Liao Ting Yan. He gets pleasure from making her happy and giving her things that she likes.
In the novel she doesn't really want to be in a romantic relationship with him even though he is doing everything for her, like a teenager who has fallen in love for the first time. She said she wanted to eat beef, so he went out and stole the cow demon's wife for her to eat. My girl told him separating the cow demon from his wife is bad. He then went out and stole the cow demon to reunite him with his wife. He then proceeds to shrink them and give them to her to play with. Lol.

On chapter 34 and it mostly follows the plot in the drama to a T. They went to find the guy with 18 concubines that was from Sima Jiao's bloodline. Sima Jiao killed him and all the others that were kept prisoners in the mountain. He fought the elders who tried to kill him and escape with Liao Ting Yan. They met the monk who told her how to save Sima Jiao's life. She and Sima Jiao proceed to have lots of spiritual soul s*x, no physical s*x though. I'm on the part with them impersonating the brother and sister. The snake is still a snake.

On chapter 24 now and the snake is still a snake. Liao Ting Yan is now an otter. Some of the plot point in the drama are enhanced more than in the novel. For example, in the drama, Sima Jiao pretended to kill Liao Ting Yan because the sect leaders found out she was from the demon realm and wanted to use her to control him. However, in the book it didn't really give a reason why he pretended to kill her, and the sect leaders just assumed that he had grown tired of her and killed her. The book doesn't really explain his reasons for doing things, so I guess that drama writes had to come up with something. Although, I do think that they could have came up with better reasons for some of the plot points in the drama. I wished they'd kept it as her being the only surviving one of the 100 girls.
Okay, so I just thought I'd give you people an update on the novel even though you didn't ask for one. So far,…
Okay, so I'm on chapter 18 now and I've noticed a few more differences in the novel. It would seem that in the novel his body was always cold because he spent most of his time in the ice cold pool. Liao Ting yan doesn't seem to have the cold body that calmed the burning fire in his body. Also, the novel is hella funny. Their interaction is just pure gold, and Liao Ting Yan survival instinct is top notch.
There is a part when he used the truth spell on her to know what she was thinking and she told him she was wondering why her chest has grown twice in size. He then proceeds to squeeze her breast, saying that they are just two lumps, why do they have to be so big. Her, feeling violated, decides to return the favour and squeeze his ass. He got angry intending to snap her risk. She noticed this and immediately put his hands back on her breast, telling him to squeeze them as they're quite soft and plump. I'm dying of laughter here.
Okay, so I just thought I'd give you people an update on the novel even though you didn't ask for one. So far, I'm on chapter 14 and the storyline is somewhat different from the drama. Same context, but still different. Sima Jiao is far more cruel in the novel and killing is fun for him. Liao Ting yan is far more lazy in the novel and out of the 100 girls that went to serve Sima Jiao, she is the only one that survived. He killed the rest. So, the black snake never turned human, or at least not yet.
The ending was an open one. They met in the real world at the last second of the episode. But despite this, I still love it just for the chemistry of the leads. Just a reminder, though, the storyline is all over the place. It started off very strong and a little over halfway, I felt like it was another story, but the intimacy and chemistry between the leads never fail to deliver. It's the one consistent thing in the drama.
I love this drama. I need recommendations of dramas with this level of intimacy and chemistry between the leads. Mind you, the storyline lost me halfway through, but the leads chemistry kept me going. The ML is what I want every ML to be like. The FL played her role beautifully. The drama plot was not plotting, but the intimacy and chemistry was doing it's THING.
Recommendations please, I need more. Although, I don't think there's any that can beat this.
wow, a very crazy summary of the first two episodes but I beg to differ.first of all the younger brother didn't…
I welcome differing opinions, but if reasoned debate feels like hostility, you might prefer the safety of silence over the rigor of discourse. "Take a hike" Lol, I think it's best you bow out gracefully as the discussion has clearly surpasses your comfort level. There's no shame in knowing when to stop.

I'm late to the drama, but from what I can gather, you would prefer for the FL to stay with the SML even if she doesn't love him because "it would be the right thing to do." Are you serious? How does that benefit anyone?
You mentioned that the ML took away the SML first girl, but you fail to realise that the first girl always loved the ML and she only ever considered the SML a friend. She didn't even know that the SML loved her. The ML also didn't know his brother loved her. Secondly, the SML only went after the FL because she had the heart of the woman he loved. The FL was only with him because he was the doctor who saved her life and she felt indebted to him.
Next, the ML stayed away from her when he found out she was his brother's girlfriend. The FL didn't understand why she felt that connection to the ML, and she too tried her best to stay away from him. When she realised that her feeling were not going anywhere, but was getting stronger, she ended her relationship with the SML who refused to accept it. And even than, she and the ML didn't just jump into a relationship.
But most importantly, you are forgetting that this drama has fantasy elements. Her heart was guiding her. The heart she had in her body always loved the ML not the SML.
lastly, you keep mentioning that Korean drama always "sugar coats" these things. My question to you is, why are you still watching Korean dramas? If it upsets you so much, why not go watch dramas from other countries that suits your taste and leave the sugar coated dramas to the rest of us? You would have less to complain about and be much happier. Problem solved.
P.S. I'm thoroughly convinced that you also had one or more girls that you liked stolen by someone older in your family. This can be the only explanation for your strong reaction and misinterpretation of this drama. If this is the case, then I'm truly sorry and I hope you find love soon if you haven't already.
This makes no sense to me. Why is Mu Yu Mo the FL? It's supposed to be Bai He Huai. I haven't started watching yet because I'm waiting for it to be completed. However, I will not watch it if it strays too far from the anime. I love the anime, so I don't want to be too disappointed. Can someone spoil it for me and let me know if it follows the anime or not?
To stop watching an actor's drama because they cheated is crazy. I agree, cheating is very bad, but I'm not here to pass judgment on anyone. You don't know if the person they hurt have forgiven them or not. You don't know whether they regret what they did and is trying to change. You don't know anything about them other than what you read and see in the media. You are damning people for their mistakes that you heard about from social media. I would have understood if your list was of criminals only, but this is just ridiculous.
furthermore, don't even get me started on the ones you listed as rude, arrogant, manipulative and divorcing your fav actress by text. If I decide to stop watch every actor or actress who behave like this then I'd have nothing to watch. Hollywood actors and actress do far worse but you people still watch their movies and shows. The double standard and bias is so crazy that it needs to be studied.
