Who else swooned when van told gungtan that he's a vulnerable human with someone to protect? I know I did

Weren't you a little too rude?
You said utilised too little. I said showing anymore wouldn't be very important for the plot since most of the things can be explained away by simply saying that johan is from a group of priests that have sworn to protect the world from lust demons. Utilising johan anymore would cause deviation from the plot since it doesn't add anything to it. Maybe increase your reading comprehension as well?

I respect your opinion but strongly disagree. I just hope we can get a happy ending for mi ho and van this time

Okay so yeom ji....who is this girl?
I think that while mi ho/wongjeong may be the key to the annihilation of lust demons, it is yeom ji who will end gungtan.

Gungtan is capable of emotions as can be seen from the way he sort of took yeom ji under his wing. Maybe he's just lonely and this is him trying to find a kindred spirit?

I felt so bad for mi ho. Everything she has suppressed for the sake of focusing on her training was brought to stand before her. She blames herself for all the deaths. And to top it all, there's this whole other life she lived that she doesn't remember. It wouldn't be so bad to not remember were it not for van, who's very existence is from a time when another version of her existed.
She feels like an empty bowl when she's a force to be reckoned with.

Van's lines to gungtan were the highlight for me. As I've mentioned before, van's humanity is his strength. And when gungtan was sneering at van's inability to heal fast, van looked him straight in the eye and reminded him that it was because he was a human protecting someone he cared about. And that is why van is such a beautiful character.

I don't get people's fixation with johan. I believe most of it is because of how popular eun woo is. He's doing fine in his role but i honestly wish some of his parts could be reduced to give us more insight into yeom ji. This character remains an enigma and im curious to know her part in all of this

From the tailer of part 2, we know mi ho is going to train somewhere near the cave she and van are in. And that van will put up his invisible wall, leaving her behind. I wonder how that will come about.
So far loving this show and despite some of the negative comments (that seem to sound kinda orchestrated making me think it might be a few people using different IDs) , i want to leave positivity and hope this gets renewed for a 3rd season. Especially since it seems to be doing well on Prime

Wait the webtoon is on going? I thought it had already concluded

An example of a drama with an unnecessary romantic plot would be hello monster.
Here, the romance is beautiful because while its not the focal point, it's hard to ignore because the entire thing literally began when the child van decided to save child wongjeong and returned to the monks who enslaved them.
Their romance is adding to the story, not distracting from it. My opinion

I mean would you be sunshine and bunnies if you had been forced to become half demon, treated like an animal and accidentally killed the woman you loved, then spent an eternity wallowing in the guilt?
Van is dark and gloomy because his life has been like that since the beginning

Literally every person, whether they are a fan of this show or not, have acknowledged that the leads have chemistry. What are you on about?
Secondly, excorcism priests used to be an actual thing in the past. Don't know about now. In the lore of the show it's clearly mentioned that the priests are also aware of the lust demons and the history behind them. Yeah they could go into detail about johan's training and all, but is it really relevant to the plot? And even if they do mention his training, a 10 min scene would siffice. This is a fantasy genre drama. Its not going to follow the rules of the world. So suspend your disbelief and think of it like this: in the show there is a group of priests that are especially trained to deal with the supernatural.

The second part is a direct continuation of the first part. Like the final installment of harry potter (movie) was split into two but was basically one movie.

She's such an amazing character. She doesn't even know how she died, whether van killed her or not. But she's smart enough to know that answers to her questions can wait. She knows her priorities. I like that about her

Yeah same here. I wonder what happened to that movie they were making? It was supposed to be a continuation of the drama with the same cast. It never happened even though the show was a hit

He did say that gungtan at the very least should be grateful of the chance to redeem himself for his sins. I believe because gungtan killed his parents? So in his mind, he's doing him a favour. Not sure about van, I'll have to rewatch it if he mentioned something about van's sins

I believe in his mind it goes like this:
To counter evil, he needed someone to get their hands dirty. That is van and gungtan. They can enter the dark so that he remains 'clean'. In his mind it's a necessary evil, one that can be easily dealth with once the barrier is in place. Because he foolishly believes he can easily kill them once they have run their usefulness.

I guess one of the reasons i really like the show is because the trio reminds me of one my favourite shows; the guest.
The guest had a trio too, with amazing chemistry.

Moving on to the current episodes, i have this prediction about what gungtan intends to do by approaching mi ho right at the end of episode 2. Now if i were gungtan (i swear im not a half demon serial killer) i would try to create a rift between van and mi ho. Van tried to distance himself after he nearly killed mi ho but he isnt doing that anymore (his why? Why? when granny told him to stay put was so cute and funny lol).
Gungtan feels like van betrayed him and left him alone. He's going to want to hurt van and ofcourse the woman who sealed him as well. I think he'll create the invisible barrier to prevent van from coming to protect mi ho and then he'll have a talk with her. He might imply things that aren't true to get mi ho to distance herself from van, thus leaving her open to attacks. Gungtan doesnt just want to kill mi ho. He wants to make it as painful as possible for both van and her. That's my prediction, let's see what happens

Hmmm you do have a point there about splitting this into two parts. But who knows, maybe future episodes will make it clearer why they had to do so.

Hmmm that's definitely one way of looking at it but if i may, here's my perspective;
(Not disagreeing with you, just sharing a different POV)

1) comparison to bulgassal is honestly only skin deep. I would actually compare this to alchemy of souls. I couldn't watch bulgassal honestly and felt nothing for the characters (except the FL's sister). Plus the whole premise of bulgassal was "i hate this woman, she killed my family. I will hunt her down and kill her, but I feel something for her"
While here, Van feels an overbearing amount of guilt. He doesn't hate Wongjeong/ Mi Ho. The only similarity here is that one is immortal and the other is reincarnated with no memories of her prior life. Oh and the whole being chased by the supernatural part. As you've said before, this is a commonly used storyline and not necessarily a copy of bulgassal. Several other shows like goblin, alchemy of souls, bulgassal have done this. At the end of the day, the webtoon is the source material and this is the story in the webtoon. I don't mind overused plots, but i do look at the execution because even clichés can be appealing when used right. So in my perspective, they have done a good job executing this plot.

2) Van wearing black is actually a part of the webtoon. I havent read the complete webtoon, only a bit of it so im not sure if his dressing changes but it's supposed to be an integral part of him. He's in mourning. That's my interpretation. He's mourning the death of one he loved. And the way she died haunts him to this day. Mi ho doesnt remember anything so he hasn't left his mourning garb. He blames himself for doubting wongjeong, because that was what lead to the events that transpired. Van's character building is very nicely done. From the start we were shown that out of the two boys that survived the lust demon transition, van was the more empathetic and humane one. He has a darkness certainly, it's what allowed the lust demon to take hold. But he's also good. When, as a child, he turned back when he could have escaped, it showed not only his devotion to wongjeong but also how at the end of the day he controls the lust demon. It does not control him, despite what he may fear.

3) gungtan is interesting. He is a character that we see in present day as well. People who have had their homes destroyed or are taken away from families and trained by others to be weapons. They eventually become destructive and their hatred is all they remain. Gungtan i can understand but i do not condone what he's done. He lets the lust demon control him but at the end of the day that will be his undoing, not his strength. He's not in charge and so has no control over anything. He thinks him embracing his darkness makes him stronger when actually it is his weakness.
Gungtan believed it was him and van vs the world. The only other person like him, the only one who could understand him was van. And he can't stand van not being there beside him because he doesn't want to be without the brother he bled and trained with. Since van is the only one like him, he can't stand van not choosing the exact same path, cant stand van's humanity.
It's like when two friends share a rare and common interest, an interest that sets them apart from anyone else, but one friend suddenly decides to leave that hobby or interest. That's how I see it from what we've shown.

4) Mi ho is completely in the dark here. She knows nothing, recalls nothing. But for the first time she has a group of people that she can trust. That will protect her for no price at all. She's rich but has had to fight for everything. For the shares in the company, for every idea she brings up and wants to execute. All her life she has had to watch her step, watch for betrayal. Money is an important part of her life. Which is why now that she has van who protects her and asks for nothing in return, johan who is like a brother when she has no siblings and the elder lady who is like grandmother/mother, she isnt thinking too much about anything else and just rushing headlong into this. Because now she has a true family. From the eat or be eaten world of chaebols, she is now in the eat or be eaten world of lust demons, but now she's not alone. Her father who cares more about his financial losses and image than his own daughter, her aunt who treats her like an enemy rather than a blood relation, this has made her into a woman who, when she has something to protect, will do so at all costs. I love her character!

So this is my take. It's long but i wonder if you'd read it and see it from a new light
