It's disappointing how there's still no announcement with regards to another season. Kdramas airing on streaming…
Plus what is with this trend of killing characters that dont even die in the webtoon? This and duty after school killed off characters and im surprised the webtoon artists weren't offended....
It's disappointing how there's still no announcement with regards to another season. Kdramas airing on streaming giants like Netflix, prime and Disney + is great and all. But ever since this started, kdrama endings have become more and more disappointing. Why do they end shows like this when there has been no confirmation that the story will continue? It has been this way since memories of alhambra and im getting real sick and tired of it. No matter how successful the show is, they'll end it on a Cliffhanger, promise something epic, then, never renew it.
I don't think happiness fits here since the leads are a married couple and share several romantic moments.
Dramas that deserve to be on this list are: 1)Voice season 2 and 3 (captain do and kang centre!!!) 2)The ghost detective 3)Train 4) Decoy part 1 5) Money game 6) Liar game
If you want to see the main characters current relationship/dynamic, then you should. But to understand the story…
Its not prequel. I believe it's actually lee rang travelling back in time and this may change the course of events in the future. I kinda hope so because the romance was not it for me in the first season
I actually never completed the first season because i couldn't connect to the female lead. Nothing against her, i just didnt really enjoy the dynamic between her and the ML. But i might watch this given the change in setting and FL.
Unfortunately I don’t think the show was that big of a hit. Most who watched it absolutely loved it but it didn’t…
I agree, their dynamic was the high light and the finale scene is my favourite. Ive never loved the finale episode of a show as much as this one and im glad that they ended it well rather than giving us a vague open ending with no surety of another season. Times when kdramas ended with more conclusive endings are what i miss the most.
Also, i get that everyone has their own opinion. Some may love a show while others won't. It's understandable. Everyone has their own perspective. For example, wildly popular shows like squid game and glory did not catch my attention. But that does not mean these shows were bad. What bothers me is the way many people are downplaying van and hyping johan. To me it honestly makes no sense. Van's character was so deep and well written while johan was pretty much not elaborated upon. So i don't understand where these comments are coming from which completely ignore how amazing of a character van was. Different perspective and all that, but some comments are eerily similar but oh well, doesn't change that the show is successful. To anyone who is thinking of watching the show, i suggest that you go ahead and do so. Don't let the negative comments hinder you. Twitter, Instagram, YouTube are all filled with people praising the show, the show has done well on amazon prime, it has been invited to cannes Festival. It is a good show especially for fans of the fantasy genre. Im a hardcore fan of the genre (lord of the rings is my all time favourite) and as a fan of the genre, i can tell you that the world building is excellent, the characters are heart touching and acting is top tier. I hope the makers actively consider another season given the success of the show because we have so much potential here. Imagine a more lethal van, an inhibited van and mi ho doing her best to bring him back. We could also have mi ho training to fight these demons. Can you just imagine the potential of such a dynamic? I can and it makes me all the more hopeful for another season.
Guys! The show has been invited to The Cannes International festival!! This is a milestone for all involved and i think it is definitely a positive sign for the makers to consider another season. Please sign this petition as we celebrate this awesome news https://www.change.org/RenewIsland
Unfortunately I don’t think the show was that big of a hit. Most who watched it absolutely loved it but it didn’t…
It was actually a hit. It's an ocn show and did well in ratings. Ocn shows, even those that are a hit, dont have ratings that other dramas do because of the small audience. So in terms of an ocn show, it was successful. I know because i watched it soon after it had finished airing and everyone was raving about it
Yess! Island was soooo good. Also i see so many people asking for another season. There's a petition for those who are interested. Please sign away https://www.change.org/RenewIsland
They probably wanted to leave the door open for the possibility of more seasons. But since this series did not…
I can say the same to you. You have given numbers but no reference. And your numbers are from part 1 by the way, not part 2. None of your numbers quote any reference. Most of it was what "think" (i dont think it had achieved enough for a second season are your words). I have quoted articles. (My source says otherwise, what source? Pray do tell) No one is trying to make something out of nothing by writing articles. When dark hole flopped, everyone said it flopped. Why would anyone call a show a hit when a simple search on the net could debunk it? Amazon prime isnt just big in western market. And plus the show has been trending in japan as well. All articles praise it. Im not saying it was as big of a hit as squid game. But it was pretty successful in its place. I want to end this here, you are stretching this needlessly. Why are you so hellbent on forcing your "island was a flop" narrative? This is a lot of commitment for a show you don't seem to even like....lets leave it here shall we?
They probably wanted to leave the door open for the possibility of more seasons. But since this series did not…
You want to force a narrative where the show was a flop, go right ahead. Everyone and everything else says otherwise and ive given enough references. Dont need to say any more. Good day to you

First of, being top 10 in 26 countries is a big thing, not "some countries". Also the top paying in tving. It does not have rating because it airs in a channel which has a small viewership due to being a paid channel plus airing on amazon as well so people preferred to watch it on amazon. It has consistently been number 2 most watched show right below jinny's kitchen and topping charts in thailand, china, Ireland, indonesia, singapore and various other countries. It has also been top 1 in paying subs for tving for 3 weeks straight. I dont know why you think asian market is less important than western market but calling it a "flop" because of that is funny. It has had an impact and in general is being praised. Go look at the official twitter accounts of prime video from various countries. They have all posted it. Even studio dragon has repeatedly posted clips despite it having finished airing. It has been pretty successful on tving as well. You don't need to deny facts that severely simply because you think it was a flop
Very little chance as the ratings wasn't very good.
"Last week, "Island" became the first Korean content to land on Amazon's TV Shows Top 10 list. The ninth spot and the two consecutive weeks on the list mark another record for the Tving original." This is according to an article published in korean joongang daily. Korean herald also reported something similar.
Same, i know for a fact that if they create another season and make johan the central character, i won't be able…
I think van is definitely still alive, they made it kinda obvious. Like the dagger shaking. Several people here say that it shakes only when it detects evil. But im not so convinced of that. It detects evil yes, but it has a master. And it is letting that master know of the evil. Without van, why would it shake? Who is it informing? We were shown a scene from the past of both van and gungtan taming their daggers. That was their first test in showing that they were ready. The dagger isnt just a weapon. It recognised the lust demon within them and responded to that. So if van was truly gone, why would the dagger alert anyone about evil when the master that commands it is gone?
Secondly why would mi ho think about the possibility of him coming back if he was well and truly gone? Some people have argued that when gungtan was sealed below ground, he didn't disappear the way van and him did in the finale episode. But my point is that wongjeong hadnt succeeded in creating the barrier, she had only blasted gungtan away and granny had created a temporary seal. Mi ho was the one who actually created the barrier. No-one had ever said that van would die once the marble fragments united. All that was said was that he'd lose his humanity and be sealed underground. And that is what I think happened. Van and gungtan have been sealed in the void and with the seal broken, the dagger is reacting to its master's return. The barrier shook only when the barrier broke, not when yeom ji became possessed. If it were truly detecting evil, it would have shaken then.
That's my take on the ending. The makers can definitely bring van back and create another season. This is the world of make believe. Nothing is set in stone and loopholes can be created. I hope they consider all of this if they make another season

You really need to stop misguiding people about ratings. Go read what the Korean herald has to say about the show. It was airing on amazon prime and topped the most watched list in 17 countries. The show is a hit despite not getting much promotion
Dramas that deserve to be on this list are:
1)Voice season 2 and 3 (captain do and kang centre!!!)
2)The ghost detective
3)Train
4) Decoy part 1
5) Money game
