I'm bored. The only thing that kept me watching this episode was the palace's interior and exterior design details.…
It's only the third episode and they've known each other for about a week and in that time, his dad has died and he's basically been kidnapped by strangers claiming to be family, I don't think I'd have time for chemistry with someone either. Hopefully they get more chemistry as they start spending more time together where they're not running for their lives. As for the dad....I feel like we need a longer scene of them together but they're both understandably awkward around each other and Khanin has been honest that his other dad feels more like his dad than Tharin does. And Tharin has thought that his kid was dead for years, how is he supposed to relate to a 22 year old stranger that's clearly unhappy around him?
I like that the Assavadevathin's weren't portrayed as these altruistic, can do no evil type of royals. They're just as cunning and manipulative as the rest of the competing royals. The grandfather knew that pushing Khanin would have him bolting so he played the kind granpa while forcing Charan to lie to a confused and scared boy. (Which I feel is gonna bite Charan in the ass later on assuming he doesn't tell Khanin in the next ep) I low-key have a theory that the grandpa orchestrated the attack (he was literally the only one who knew) and is trying to use that as a means to get Khanin to compete and maybe pin the blame on one of the other royal families. I liked how realistic it was, Khanin being awkward around his bio-father (who is probably too soft-hearted for the crown) and I really hope they get closer. (Also his dad seems gay since one of the casts is listed as a step-father? can't wait for that storyline) Also liked how Khanin immediately stood up for Ava, boy was like, I may have my own agenda and fighting one person is wasier than two but damn if I'm not gonna speak up for woman's rights. I like the slow-burn and tension between Khanin and Charan, like obviously Khanin is attracted to Charan who definitely feels something for him in return but it's not the immediate focus. Khanin has been violently tossed into a nest of vipers and Charan is literally the only calm and safe space that he has right now so he's desperately clinging onto the one person who knew him as Kenneth/Khanin rather than the Next Prince. I also hope they go more into the Emmaly kiss lore (I kinda want Khanin to rebelliously kiss Charan in public and force them to be a pretend couple, the previous trailers hinted at a fake relationship so I can't help but wonder if he'll use the kiss as the excuse) The first two eps were slow but I feel like they had to be with the wealth of story they were building up towards and it looks like things are finally picking up and other characters are going to start playing a bigger part now. I can't wait until next Saturday!
This was perfect. I love how they had Jin wooing Akin rather than them just falling into bed with each other, that was a nice touch. And that honey....honey, honey, honey....That was the sexiest scene I've watched in awhile. I loved how it switched from a dark room to that golden honey hue, it was so beautiful and sensual and passionate, very well done. My one critique would be them making Akin kinda socially inept. As a seasoned actor in the industry for the amount of time that he has been, he knows the game and how to play to the audience and give them what they want so it's weird them portraying him so standoffish/shy/unsure of how to react on a simple livestream.
Definitely, especially if you're familiar with the anime. It's great how accurately they stuck to the source material while adding their own personal touch.
It certainty won't be with only 3 episodes in that one will know EVERYTHING about the plot. I advance to you that…
Personal preference exists. Plus I said I hope they grow into their chemistry, not that they had zero chemistry. If you don't like the other series, good for you, don't watch it. Doesn't seem to stop you from voicing your opinion which is literally all I did.
Oh my god!! Perfect, just perfect. The first 2 episodes were great but a bit fast but they're really getting into a groove now an I'm loving it. The long hair and historical outfits, I'm in love. Their chemistry is out of this world and I can't wait for the honey scene 😏🍯it's gonna be good.
It certainty won't be with only 3 episodes in that one will know EVERYTHING about the plot. I advance to you that…
Both I guess. The characters are a bit off but I honestly just think Joss and Gawin need a bit more time to build some rapport with each other as performers, especially in a romantic sense. (Maybe by the time Only Friends 2 comes out they'll be more comfortable in that kind of role) They look they're good friends in real life but it's a different story when you have to play a couple. Hopefully they rise the challenge.
It certainty won't be with only 3 episodes in that one will know EVERYTHING about the plot. I advance to you that…
My problem is that neither character is showing much charisma or personality. Even their interactions with each other are flat and kind of stiff. Maybe it get's better, I certainly hope so and would continue to watch regardless to see if it picks up a bit more. I don't think or expect everything to make sense just 3 episodes in, but what has been shown so far hasn't been that great as opposed to other's that have had me hooked from the very first episode. Everything is different though, so I'm still giving this the benefit of the doubt.
You are in episode 3 and you want an explanation for something that's reserved for the future? Oh dear if you…
I shouldn't have to read the novel in order to enjoy a series, especially if there's no guarantee I'd even enjoy the novel. Also, not everyone has it available in their area and it might be difficult to find, so saying "just read the book" is pointless. I've watched plenty of vampire stuff and even in ones that don't follow a traditional vampire formula there is still a common theme among them. I'm sure they'll explain things further in, I'm just saying that what I've watched so far has left a lot to be desired.
It's fine but it's not great and a part of me fears it's not going to get better. It honestly feels like they went through a million rewrites and forgot what story they were trying to tell. The characters are lackluster and their motivations are flat. Things that should be explained or questioned just aren't. Why do the "good" vampires care so much about peace? Why must Tong be protected only until he's 22? It's not like his blood type changes at a different age, or are the vamps not allowed to touch him when he's that age? Why can the vampires do all the things they're not supposed to, what are their actual weaknesses? Are they literally just extra powerful humans, boring. Explain please.... The side characters (Tonkla) are irrelevant and it's such a waste of Neo's talents to be stuck in a side character role. Nakhan is shaping up to be a pretty comic-style baddie and not a menacing figure which is sad, a story is only as good as their antagonist and he just...isn't. The sweat thing is weird and kinda gross.... And I might be in the minority here but...Gawin and Joss just have zero chemistry while acting. Outside of acting they're great and adorable together but acting....not so much. I'll still watch it out boredom and curiosity but so far, Top Form and Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist are waaay better and they hooked me from the very first episode.
I think it's more about the manga that had straight up rape scene between the 2 leads and was acknowledged by…
In which case it's great they omitted it from the anime and I'm pretty sure they'll do the same here which is the great part about adaptations, you get to make things a bit more healthy and palatable to watch. So people giving shit for a small peck and talking about a scene that hasn't happened in this series and may not happen at all is pointless.
Everyone going on about what a red flag Jin is supposed to be based off of the anime...? Did anyone even watch the anime?? Junta (anime version) was the farthest from a red flag. Pushy, overeager and horny 24/7, but red flag? We must have watched something different then. He always supported Takato/Akin, took care of him, tried to protect him from evil industry people....what's greener than that? And there isn't SA (not between the leads at least, from a side character there is a bit of non-con but never full out assault) in the anime Takato was a bit reluctant and embarrassed by the intimacy of being with another man who made him feel so many different things but he was never forced to have sex with him. Everyone needs to chill, trust me I've seen red flags in all manner of BL things, Jin/Junta ain't one of them.
This was sooo fun. The chemistry is great, and the production quality is so good. While I love how closely they're sticking to the anime I feel like they're adding too much of it too soon. It's taking away a bit of the mystery for me. Also I hope they focus a bit more on Akin's POV in upcoming episodes. I want to see more of his petty aloof whiney kitten side. All in all, this is going to be a good drama, sad that it's only 11 episodes though. Maybe 12 can be a special episode??
Well....it's still enjoyable for me but gmmtv has a way with tanking series with really good premises so we'll see as the show gets further along. For now, I'll watch it with more amusement than seriousness. I mean, his sweat revived this vampire....like, eww. Would it have killed them to make it his tears, it's just as cringey and less gross. The garlic bread was hilarious though and Gawin is so freaking adorable! Joss is handsome but I need them to flesh out his character a little more before any conclusions can be made.
I hope AouBoom can really showcase their acting chops and chemistry here. So far they've played very sweet lovey dovey roles with each other but for something like Only Friends, they're really gonna have to dig for a schmuchy toxic attitude. I hope they can pull it off and if they do I really hope it paves the way to a series where they're the focal point. Soooo upset for OhmLeng though, they had so much potential it's just sad. I mean Ohm and Nanon haven't even been in a series together in dog years and Ohm was always paired with a bunch of others from the get go of his career and Nanon has done mostly straight roles (he did good getting out of the toxicity of BL pairing wars) so seriously, get the fuck over their pairing already. Hopefully the both of them can recharge and when they have a comeback (together or apart) they can give a huge middle finger to the haters.
As much as I have loved this series, the finale was rather disappointing. It was longer than the other episodes and yet they did nothing with it. It was such a golden opportunity to tie together all the loose ends rather than have horny prison arc (which I did like, a lot, I admit) but damn, they got 5 years and the mother just....bribed her way out? Which is fine but she was the villain for heavens sake, make her a little more menacing and if she taught them everything on how to be killers shouldn't she be aware that they could overpower her measly two guards? And Pepper's character was soooo useless that I don't even know why they bothered with him in the first place. If he had made a cameo at the end, showing up to help all of them escape the mother's clutches, my god that would have been so cool and a perfect way to full circle his complicated relationship with the brothers and the mother. It feels like a lot of missed opportunities and potential. That said, I still enjoyed it. It's still better than a lot of others I've seen but it could have been more. Ultimately the actors and the way they portrayed their characters is saving grace and most enjoyable thing about this series. They gave it their all, they could make you laugh, cry, roll your eye and be annoyed and that was really a treat to see them all together. I hope some of their future projects have a bit more sense and don't involve a cast that they ultimately will do nothing with.
This episode was so perfect at showing the complex emotions each character was going through and damn did PerthSanta rise to occasion. First of all to everyone complaining, they're literally playing 19/20 years olds so there's no use expecting them to deal with their issues like emotionally mature 40 year olds. Gun has been "sunshine" for a long time and that's incredibly burdensome because when you're not feeling it, everyone is in your face about why you're not happy. He's trying to be understanding of someone he loves by hiding his hurt and by locking the door it was really good because that showed Yotha that despite him waiting, he wasn't allowed to just come and go as he pleased. As for Yotha....as someone with divorced parents and who has witnessed more toxic relationships than I can count, that has personally put me off love as well, Yotha was veeery relatable. You don't want the relationship your parents had and the one person who made you take a chance broke up with you on the basis that it wasn't love at all. That's gonna mess someone up. He doesn't know how to deal with his true feelings of love for Gun in a healthy way and as much as he was hurting Gun he was also hurting himself just as much. Honestly it would be boring if things were just cleanly resolved and as much as the angst kills me seeing Santa perfectly capture the contained heartbreak was amazing, he and Perth are gonna go so far together and I can't wait for their other series. AuoBoom as well, whew, damn can they steam up a room together. I hope that with obvious and increasing interest in them they'll start to get more roles together, they deserve it soo much
It baffles my mind people's negative reaction to this episode. Granted you're entitled to feel however you want about what you're watching but I have watched some truly, truly bad BLs that people have raved on about it being the best they've ever watched. This doesn't even come close to bad. Sure there may be a few missteps or things that you may have to suspend disbelief on but still, come on, its a romance show about hitmen, how realistic is it gonna be anyway? This whole idea that Kant and Style should be so much more prepared and two steps ahead of the literal professionally trained killers is ridiculous. They're both ordinary civilians in over their head on a task they never should have or wanted to be involved in and they're supposed to be what? Two super spies that can solve any problem? Get real. As for Bison and Fadel...yeah, they're killers, and have a predisposition for violence and mayhem but they're not unfeeling by any means. They both were betrayed by the people they tentatively dared to fall for and had their worst fears realized. Getting some measure of "revenge" by making Kant/Style fall deeper for them is literally the actions of hurt little boys. As for it only lasting a day....Jesus, sometimes plans don't freaking work out the way you want them to as has been shown many, many times. Bison literally has a history of acting before he thinks and jumping the gun. No show is going to be perfect, not every single box is going to be checked, characters are sometimes going to act in ways that are a little unsatisfying, but that just makes them human to me. And honestly the phenomenal acting and amazing chemistry make up for every little thing for me. So to anyone dropping this series....sucks for you I guess, I'll continue to enjoy my Wednesdays quite happily.
Khao has the most expressive eyes of anyone I've ever seen. The lovesick puppy dogs eyes, the dead look when his mask drops, the heartbreak and desperation....I literally fell in love with his eyes alone. It's soo sad that it took Bison getting hurt for Kant to admit to his true feelings and even though it's heartbreaking, I'm going to look forward to him "making it up" to Bison in ep 8. The way I just know that they're going to have to get raw and real and vulnerable with each other, both of them opening up in a way they've never had to/been too scared to. Fadel and Style....god, they make me so happy I could cry. Style kind of just accepting his fate and saying "at least I won't be lonely when I die" to Fadel threatening him. I think a huge part of him knows that Fadel doesn't have it in him to kill him and we all know that Style never backs down from a game of seduction to get what he wants. This series may just end up being my all time favorite.
As for the dad....I feel like we need a longer scene of them together but they're both understandably awkward around each other and Khanin has been honest that his other dad feels more like his dad than Tharin does.
