I think the 2015 BBC adaptation of "And Then There Were None" is quite good. As is Peter Usinov's Evil Under the…
Thanks; I’ll look for these. So far, I’ve liked David Suchet’s portrayal of Poirot the best, but I haven’t seen Usinov’s or Branagh’s yet. Have you seen Hugh Laurie’s version of Why didn’t they ask Evans? I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s one of my favorite “other” Christie novels
I think they left the possibility open but Youku is really bad at folkow up seasons. And Liu Xueyi and Ju Jingyi…
Swap back: Dr Who parallel when David Tennant recently returned as The Doctor (though there only as a bridge to the next full-time Doctor) Refrigerator: too true
I’d like to propose a modification to your explanation of the ending: Weishan’s return was part of the plan she and Ziyu came up with to eradicate Wufeng when they were planning just prior to his completing the first trial (we gets pieces of the planning in episode 22). His waiting for her was an “act” so that there would be no evidence that Weishan was now a double agent (there were similar “acts” between their planning and episode 22). They had also stated at one point that the only way she could be safe was if Wufeng was eradicated.
I’m less sure if anything Qian said was truthful as her handler said her weakness was self-love (I wonder if she and her handler had come up with a 2nd background story in case the first one was blown)
2nd season: since Ziyu had promised young master Xue that he would explore the world with him and Joseph Zeng did a cameo as Xue, how about Ziyu and Xue going off on a “quest” to help Weishan eradicate Wufeng. Since part of Wufeng’s hold over the other sects was knowing their secrets, the duo could journey to the various sects to deal with it, with Weishan working undercover to help them.
IQIYI is requiring premium subscription for this show. Are y’all on premium?
I think all episodes were released on Jan 19 for premium; I’m guessing 1 episode per day starting on Jan 19 for standard as I’m on standard and can watch up through episode 12 before I get the premium notice
Well if you can read Chinese you should read the book bc the adaptations were good but not great and they are…
I’ve read her translation of Legend of the Condor Heroes; I’m surprised that nothing else has been translated in the 3 years since then. The main online source for translations that I’ve looked at is wuxiasociety.com

TVB: I tried using the Google translate camera function on my phone, but it required too many pauses so that it could translate the Chinese subtitles.
2021: I’ve watched the Duan Yu arc in it. The actor playing him seemed, in some ways, to be reprising his part in Love and Redemption. Qiao Feng: I think I really need to read his story versus watch as there is more depth to the character than I’ve seen portrayed.
Jin Yong: haven’t read enough to have a favorite yet, though the short story “Sword of the Yue Maiden” has sort of “haunted” me or stuck with me more than most things I read.

Thanks! The 82 version is on YouTube, but no English subtitles (I can’t read Chinese 🙁). There actually is an English translation of the novel, but it’s embedded in a long thread with discussion of each part translated — I’m currently in chapter 8, so it’s going to take a while to finish, but I’m enjoying it 🙂
Yeah I had the same problem. I am really curious to see what people who watch it after airing think of it.
Not having to wait for more episodes definitely helped me enjoy the drama (I decided to pause watching just before they entered the mine for the reason given above). For me 3-4 episodes at one time was the right amount.
