With both parts combined having around 40 episodes and the novel having 118 chapters, I think it’ll work.
I didn't read the novel. But all of you who did, you will probably know which part they have left out.
I have little doubt those will be the side stories, involving the supporting characters in the novel.
They probably want a more streamlined drama, fast story telling, no unnecessary fillers. Which is good, actually!
And it does not mean there will be less views, too! Crime Crackdown, last year's top modern drama in China in terms of viewcount, that one only has 28 episodes, yet it resulted in 5B views!

Yah. I understand about that part. Producers normally do not use Twitter to send official news, but Weibo. So, people pick them up from Weibo first, and then bring those news to Twitter.
There are lots of very very speedy people here, and we are very thankful for them.
It was confirmed that they had distribution license for 30 episodes?? Or was that a rumour?? It is a genuine question, cause honestly, I did not know.
Assuming that they had a distribution license for 30, cutting it down to 22 is rather drastic. I honestly do not know why they would want to do that, because most producers will be so happy to get what they want.
And so, they got license for 30. And after that, they re- looked at all their film, and then decided that lots of stuff were not central to the plot. And they took those out? Hope that is the case. We are dealing with lots of very experienced people, so that has to be the case.
Total of 43 isn't too bad. All the recent dramas, maximum of only 40. It was wise of them to split it into 2 parts. As to why they did not even go for more episodes, only the director or screenwriter can tell us. I do suspect, all along this is all they wanted so that the story is compact and not too draggy. So, just around 43. As long as the flow is good, we should get a great drama.
Gone are the days of Chinese historical dramas with 60 or 70 episodes. Some of those can be really draggy.

Given the relatively short filming cycle, I think all along, they only planned to have 40 plus episodes, not 50 plus.
We are dealing with a very experienced director. He knows what he wants and he knows he's got enough shots to tell a great story.
We should not be worried, even though we are a bit disappointed because we want to see more.
If we just want to see more of Reba, wait for LOA.
