Title Step by Step
Such a long and drawn-out final episode but at least it ended as it should, with Pat and Jeng back together as expected. I liked the close and supportive brotherly relationship between Jeng and Jaab but it's a pity that the Jaab and Jen romance wasn't more fleshed out. Pat was cute but emotionally immature and had a few too many crying scenes. His chemistry with Jeng was good but not outstanding. Jeng, son of the president of Jian Group, level-headed, thoughtful and for the most part far less emotional than Pat, was the right foil for him. He didn't want to follow in his father's footsteps and eventually take over, so in the end he decided to resign, handed over his resignation letter and walked out, then we saw his father bin the letter, which meant that in the future he could return as VP, so there could be a second series, though I doubt it. This was not the most compelling of series but it passed the time well enough and only just managed to keep one interested till it was all over.
Oh dear, so many negative comments. I liked this show, despite the fact it was more bromance than BL, though the cooking was probably the best part - everything looked so appetising. The trouble with the MLs is that most of the time they were too reticent about stating what they felt, hence the backtracking and misunderstandings, and took a long time to realise that they loved each other after a fashion. Once that was established, the relationship didn't go all romantic or become sexualised as normally happens which for these two just wouldn't look convincing, so in the end, without even a kiss, they decide to eat naked, bringing it back full circle to the premise of the show. That was a nice touch, over in a flash, yet it was still satisfying.

The mess that constitutes Ep. 10 was entirely the writer's urge to create the most drama he could devise and somehow by the end of Ep. 12 hope to bring it all to a happy ending for all concerned. Whether he succeeds has yet to be seen but I'm sure it will involve some convoluted plot devices.

A few points:

1) Lomfon sets about trying to prove Tai was his soulmate the wrong way, then when it fortuitously rains and he finds out Tai can hear him, he construes that to mean that not only is Tai his soulmate but also someone he should be in love with, though Patts warned him not to go there and thereupon kisses him. Crazy stuff. He is beaten up by Patts then told off by Tian who tells him he likes him and then walks away, disgusted and disappointed.

2) Tai lies to Patts that he can't be with him on Sunday because he has work to do. In reality, he's spending the day with Lomfon. They are spotted together, a photo is taken and sent to Patts who goes with Tian to confront them. They see Lomfon kiss Tai who displays no resistance. Patts is understandably incensed, attacks Lomfon then tries to find out if Tai really loves him but he can't provide an answer. They eventually break up. This shouldn't have occurred. Tai isn't in love with Lomfon, even if he is another soulmate, so why is it so difficult for him to put that aside? It's illogical.

3) Patts sees the photo of Tai and Lomfon and goes to Tai's condo where he and Tian then go to where Tai and Lonfom are. After Lomfon kisses Tai, Patts beats the crap out of him (without leaving a mark!) and has a series of altercations with Tai, resulting in them breaking up and both being utterly distraught. Patts didn't deserve to be put in this situation and one has to feel sorry for him.

4) Tian is on the periphery of all this drama. He's upset at what his brother did and mad at Lomfon for what he did because he likes him. Whether Lomfon already knew that, I'm not sure, but it leaves Lomfon estranged from the other three with only himself to blame.

Young Rak can't help but be a boy magnet for other boys. He's broken up with Mek, who's a controlling, selfish jerk who also slept with his best friend, Kram, who he's also cut off. Good for him for showing a bit of fortitude but he needs to at least block them on his phone. Concurrently, he's being pursued by Dino, who is brash, straightforward and has a good nature. He's also protective and concerned for his welfare. Rak likes him but isn't ready to give his heart to him yet and reminds me a little of Jack in A Boss and a Babe. Nevertheless, the potential for a love match is certainly there and that obviously is going to be the main storyline. I'm liking it so far. It's fairly light and harks back a little to simpler times with a more conventional plot. Definitely one to watch.

With Lousie being a spoiled, controlling little bitch and Shao not saying he's in love with her - yet - though that is more likely to be never, while he on the other hand has become close to Briggs who unbeknownst to him has fallen in love with him, the likelihood of the marriage going ahead is becoming less and less certain, except Louise's mother is in the background pushing it to happen for purely mercenary considerations. Shao, unfortunately, is resigned to his fate, which combined with him not being a strong character who lets himself be pushed around by his fiance, will need to get some balls if he is ever to find true love and happiness with Briggs.

I quite like this series, though the dialogue certainly needs improvement (which can be said about most Pinoy BL series), it's dotted with clichés and the direction could be stronger, but these shortcomings are mostly compensated by the assortment of gorgeous guys who provide the eye candy, and thank goodness for that.

It started off a bit slowly but picked up as the story progressed. By Ep. 7, things were in full swing and I was smiling all the way to the end of Ep. 8. The casting was wonderful. Yul is beautiful but distant at first until he begins to relax and succumb to the friendly charms of Yechan, who is a bit goofy but adorable. Yechan stole the show with his exuberant expressions and ability to portray a young man who becomes hopelessly in love and determined to win over his loved one. His confession of love was a standout. Nothing cringy here, no superfluous sound effects, just a terrific BL romance set in the idyllic countryside. Most enjoyable and possibly the best Korean BL series of the year.

I'm totally fed up with Korn and Mintra. He's a jackass falling for all her tricks and when she opens her mouth she's her own worst enemy. I do feel sorry for Pawin because I think he genuinely likes Korn but it seems he needs to put his career first and pretend to be with Mintra for the fans, so it's goodbye Pawin - unless he changes his mind. However, with Miss Suzie's death which may have been suicide - we'll find out next week I suppose - but before that we saw her crying inconsolably for some unknown reason, will the recently returned son take over or will his sister, who was her personal assistant and will it have any impact on Korn and Mintra? At least there is the relative sanity and sweetness of the blossoming love between Wayu and Weyha. I think they'll last the distance and officially become a couple.

It's not too bad and I've seen many that are much worse than this from the Philippines. Early days yet but one thing that does stand out is the hot shirtless guys, and the rest of the cast is quite attractive too. You can see where the plot is going, of course. At least it has a decent story.

Addicted was my gateway to BL. You can literally see Johnny Huang as my PFP. Regardless of how problematic it…
Addicted came to an abrupt end with Ep. 15 but apparently 18 episodes were made. Whatever happened to the last three remains a mystery.

The rule of the thumb in BL series is that when two boys become attracted to each other and one of them has a girlfriend, it's always the girl who loses out in the end. Delving into the past, the classic example for me is Waterboyy (in which Earth had his first major role) and where he falls in love with a fellow swimmer. The girlfriend becomes increasingly horrible and it's a relief when she is ultimately defeated and leaves. Here we have Korn and Pawin who are not so much in love with each other but having an affair and Mintra is determined to win Korn for herself, but alas, is not having any luck, despite Korn telling her at the end of the previous episode he wanted her to be his girlfriend. That lasted all of three seconds because he's still spending his time with Pawin who Mantra calls a slut. She tries to tempt him with her charms but he tells her to stop as he has no emotion for her. Then Pawin and Matra, who detest each other, end up in a catfight at the end of which Korn intervenes and carries Mantra away. It's all very messy. She is a bossy, manipulative, horrible girl and Pawin is more the bitchy queen who knows he has a greater hold on Korn than her. Korn is probably better off without either of them in his life, but he's stuck with them in the House. So this melodrama continues.
On House of Stars Jun 13, 2023
What's with Korn asking Mintra to be his girlfriend after he finds out she's allegedly pregnant when prior to this he's found her to be suffocating him and he's found someone far more agreeable in Pawin? As for the rest, the only other ones I'm interested in are Wayu and Wahya who are really sweet with each other.

Not yet. The episodes are fairly short and it can't get much worse. I'll give it a few more to see if it improves at all.

A series that is going nowhere. The second episode is as bad as the first one.

With Ep. 2 it got a little bit better and is starting to make some sense, though the disappearing coffee shop seems to be a bit superfluous so far. I like the way Mai and Ryu are becoming closer but Thana and Patis are about to have a fallout due to Thana keeping his unemployed status a secret. Then there's his developing friendship with pot boy. Since pot was legalised in Thailand very recently, it's now making its debut appearance in a BL series as far as I'm aware and there's nothing like smoking pot together to help with the bonding process though whether Thana and pot boy will take it to a sexual level is anybody's guess because we don't know yet whether the latter is gay or not. I don't think he is but maybe Thana's sexy good looks might persuade him to turn that way if his relationship with Patis goes sour, which is on the cards.

I'm not sure 100% sure about this show yet. Just watched episode 2 and I think I'll wait until it's finished and…
Ep. 2 ran for almost 1 hr 20 mins, so be aware you might be in for lengthy viewing times.

Title The Promise
Goodness me. All those negative comments. It wasn't that bad! Sure, it took a long time for Nan and Phu to realise they really loved each other but they had a lot to deal with, one way or another, including a lot of indecisiveness, but they got there in the end. The final episode was a bit of a mishmash of comedy at the beginning, Khunkao entering and being difficult, then that odd scene where he intervened in a fight to save a guy from ruffians and found out his name is Nan Fah (why that name?) and back to Phu, thinking he's lost Nan in an aeroplane disappearance but fortunately he caught an earlier one. Finally, we see them kiss and have their first bed scene, half of it viewed through the fish tank. The last shot is of the cat, blinking at the camera. Why not. The MLs were well suited to each other and the story kept one's interest. It wasn't great but all up, I quite liked it.

I'm really enjoying this show and Ep. 5 is the best one yet, though I find Bow, the resident fujoshi, rather annoying with all that overacting. Aside from her, the way the relationship between Saengtai and Patts is developing is great, but I just hope they don't have to go through any major drama. Saengtai is particularly adorable and he has the most gorgeous smile. Patts is just sweet and as Tai's soulmate also has the blessing of his father who also is in favour of him as Tai's boyfriend. It's mostly lighthearted and a bit fluffy, but that's the way I like it. May it stay that way.

I have to admit I quite enjoyed this office romance which I saw in one sitting. It was well paced, had the necessary dramatic elements to make it more interesting, and the two MLs with the requisite chemistry to make their love affair work had very distinct characters that helped drive the story so that what happens between them made sense. Many viewers saw Ha Ram's pursuit of Lee Joon as too aggressive to the point of workplace harassment but it didn't come across to me as that. Ha Ram fell in love with Lee Joon with a chance meeting before he actually began as an intern and was determined to win over his team leader who had been badly hurt from a previous love affair that made him decide a single life was for him and love was out of the question. As they got to know each other, Ha Ram began to understand where Lee Joon was coming from so he acted accordingly to ease the way for him to learn to love again, but when the ex unexpectedly turns up and Lee Joon virtually retreats into himself and becomes a quivering mess, it is the stalwart and caring Ha Ram who shows his metal by intervening where necessary and gives Lee Joon the fortitude to overcome the unfortunate intersection of his work and romantic lives so they can graduate from date mates to real boyfriends. Lee Joon thought he was happy in his previous life, going on single dates and leading a life of monastic chastity but when Ha Ram came along and forces him to re-evaluate this way of life, it turns out for the better, no longer the doleful, loveless office worker, he becomes truly happy and more lively, glad that he is able to love again, and that's a good thing.

Title Past-Senger
It was always going to be difficult to bring this to a credible, satisfying and expected happy ending given the plot line starts in the past and then jumps 20 years into the future (i.e. now), with one character from the past (Kiew) falling in love with a character in the present (Bamee) as teens and what would happen when both meet again in the present with a 20 year age difference between them. As some here have noted, it was kinda creepy the way Kiew was staring at Bamee during the party but the most problematic bit was when they then met outside, looked at some pictures, and suddenly Bamee realises that the boy he was photographed with is the man standing next to him and they kiss, only now, Kiew is once again the boy Bamee fell in love with, which is the only way that scene could have worked, even though there's no logic to it.
