I wish Miss Mo can finally be with Han Li forever. She is so beautiful and calm; she deserves to be with Han Li…
The last we see of Han Li, in the authors universe, he is in secluded cultivation with his wife / Dao companion Wang Ning who is Miss MO’s reincarnation.
She is the only female in the novel who manages to reach Han Li’s insanely high realm of cultivation and becomes his true equal
honestly I agree, its very forced and there doesn't seem to be any chemistry between the leads at all. From all…
The Romance between Han Li and his first wife in the novel is pretty forced too. It only happened bc the top contributor (fans voted with money on changes they wanted as the webnovel was ongoing) wanted her as FL so the author pulled that aphrodisiac plot out of his ass to make it happen and it’s just so lazy and forced. 0 chemistry and superficial.
In the novel A Record of Mortal's Journey to Immortality (this Drama), Mo dies as a mortal and then is reincarnated…
Yes, they had a wedding and at the end of the story Han Li only lives with one wife and that’s her. That’s enough for me. I’m pretty sure all the other wives will die at some point anyway they’re all WAY behind Wang Ning and Han Li in terms of cultivation. She truly is the only one who can match his thirst for immortality, but her reason is more pure hearted.
i think the reason some are lost is bc watchers are not used to what this drama truly is: progression fantasy. this isn't abt forming emotional attachments or finding purpose or politics or whatever. It's just about survival, getting stronger, and cultivating to the next level. For some this can be super boring.
For fans of progression fantasy like me, seeing him becoming stronger step by step has its own thrill.
The detachment is probably intentional too. Nothing matters to Han Li as much as his own life and progress, ultimately every thing and everyone around him are just stepping stones. That doesn’t mean there aren’t people in his life that he’s cared abt, but it does mean that his mind is very single minded.
Think of it like a game character surrounded by NPCs.

exactly! tbh the OP you're replying to just seems to be a major Nangong Wan fan and they don't like Mo Caihuan, and you know what that's cool, but what's not cool is lying that Han Li never loved Miss Mo / her reincarnations, when he ABSOLUTELY did. To say otherwise, just sounds bitter.
She is ALSO his wife, and since OP wants to emphasize that this is a "cultivation story not a romance" let's talk about how Wang Ning (mo's reincarnation) has a much higher level of cultivation than any of Han Li's other 2 wives and is the best at keeping up with him. if any of his wives will spend eternity with han li and truly be an "immortal" never dying couple, it's wang ning and no one else. She is not his concubine, she is his wife.
And yes, the author literally confirmed that wang ning IS miss mo. it wasn't explicitly said in the novel b4 but it was hinted at and then it was made official later.
if we want to talk about forced romance, let's talk abt how the only reason Nangong Wan is even Han Li's wife is bc male readers at the time the webnovel was ongoing paid for her to be a waifu and the author chose the laziest aphrodisiac route to make her part of the harem, and yet barely had any substantial romance with her at all.
I didn’t expect that from her but then again, I didn’t expect Nangong to be a jealous person either 😂 but…
i like how he explained himself to her even tho they aren't even together. he wouldnt bother to do that with anyone else, but deep down he doesnt want her of all ppl to think he has eyes on another girl
I'm just *really* glad that Mo Cai Huan is getting a ton of screentime. (at least imo, more than the FL and that's…
she seems to be the most popular with audiences too. most people are very enthralled by their scenes bc it has an addiction bittersweet quality to it. cnetz have really liked the emotional weight behind them and i've seen a lot of ppl say that they're shocked that this may be the pairing where yang yang has had the most chemistry with a female lead ever. they think they match very well together.
i'm glad at the least that both actors are getting love. in one of his last dramas, yang yang had an awful hate train against him and ppl shipped the FL with some other guy; here the opposite is happening lol. as for mo cai huan's actress, ppl used to make fun of her looks and call her fat, so i'm glad she's getting more support now, she's lovely and a great actor.
Thank you very much for the information! HL made the best choice given what he knew at the time and, realistically,…
yes, she becomes his third wife in her 3rd reincarnation and in another one of the author's novels thats in the same universe we find out that han li at the height of his power is in seclusion cultivating with just her so they really were very attached in a special way, and at least her dream (she wanted to cultivate to keep him company through eternity!) comes true
she is also the only one of his wives that has cultivation even close to his level, she truly becomes his equal. pretty badass.
Whooaa! Finding out that you can shape spiritual root must have killed him a little inside. Thanks for the spoiler!…
Yeah, that must have been like a knife to his heart. At least he gets married to mo cai huan's 3rd reincarnation, but she suffered so much until she reached that ending. It kills me that she died alone in her first life and she died saving him in her second life.
I think she touched his heart bc her love for him was so pure and she was such a good person. She had a rare heart. She loved him with no strings attached, which none of his other 2 wives can be said to have done. I also sense the hesitance in his expression in their scenes, but at least it makes for some delicious angsty / tragic unspoken romance.
Thanks for sharing this detail from the novel. I love this information. Their first meeting made me wonder why…
Yes, I think he liked her from the start too. He usually doesn't care about girls but from the second he saw her he was pondering why she wore plainer clothes than her sisters, why she was isolated...i think she reminded him of himself and he was drawn to that steady, solitary character she had. One cnetz mentioned that usually he's super stingy, but with mo cai huan, from the start he was giving her gifts and trying to help her as if a part of him wanted to take care of her but didn't know why.
And he's repeatedly treated her different from others.
Thanks for sharing. I think the drama did a really good job portraying Han Li's feelings for her. To me from their…
I agree, it was very obvious to me from the start, down to their first encounter where it felt like the entire world faded for a moment and he honed in on mo cai huan. I think those who say guilt or pity just don't like the idea of Han Li either fallling in love or having feelings for someone besides Nangong Wan.
But he's always had feelings for her. Temptation and regret is a good way to describe it. Something in him is always pulling him towards her, tempting him, but he always pulls away, and that's his biggest regret. You don't regret not holding on to someone unless you wanted to hold them close in the first place.
I think Yang Yang did a good job of showing that hesitation and push/pull tension.
Their first encounters are forced as hell in the novel too, the aphrodisiac thing happens out of nowhere there.
With the exception of Miss Mo, I have no idea why they’re so hung up on him.
I too would like to see that spinoff. Sounds like angsty xianxia material.

girl, get in line! lmaoo
