Agree with everything aside from Imagine Dragons.
That song made everything special and exiting. It was the reason i continued to wach the drama despise the CGI.
It was also one of the reason for the S1 success.
It is just another BIG miss here.😒

Well, as many others have already said, martial arts training/tecniches are not the main focus here. So even if there are many wuxia moments as i descrived above, it wouldnt really make sense to dwell too much on them. 🤔
Just too many new and more interesting theme to explore in the wuxia world, here have taken the priority 😊

I think that this drama it's the best exactly because it didnt focus too much on wuxia but on so many other much interesting side of life never before told in this kind of drama!
And the way it was told was really special: interesting and innovative. Refreshing and so well done!😍

But if you like martial arts, as many other people already said there is FDB that recieved many tips from LLH throughout the show,direct or indirect:
- LLH make FDB learn his healing tecniche.
- While FBD was fighting in a turnament LLH whisper to him some hint on how to win.
- And if you want the classic "manual of a strong tecniche" well, FDB learnt a strong sword fight tecniche that was of the master of his master's. When he went to look for the flower. In the cave with SGD.
- LLH also left to FDB his manual.

You see? There is a lot of wuxia, maybe you didn't noticed it because you trought of this drama as the classic wuxia. But you should wach this drama as
a new refreshing wuxia, where more theme are exlored, outside the classic.
If you can wach it outside the normal scheme you will surely appreciate more the fights, the sword dance and all the wuxia there is. And if you can see even outside of that you will see what make so many peole fall in love with this drama, which is not only the wuxia but the main themes, that are forgiving, letting go and despise what other people think, living your live as you want.

You know what? I dont like this drama enought to write another biblical comment so i will just write this.

I put all of the characters on the same level.
I dont like them, i dont dislike them.
In my comments I tryed to be the more objecive as possible with the info at our disposal but of course there will always be some personal interpratation in it.

You also made up informations to support your interpretation of the story. But that is ok. I made up some info too to support mine. But that is my point, we see what we want to see.

Personally i think that "intentions" are important.
If bad actions are done with evil intent those surely are worse than bad action done without it.
I can clearly see evil intention in the father, the fl and the butcher man?(the one that die inthe end, dont know the name).
All of them willingly acted in a very evil way, with the explicit intent to hurt others, and none of them feel guilty or remorse for theyr evil action.
The ml had no ill intentions toward anyone and felt remorse. He is the only one.
And this must be worth something.
This is also what make him different and better than those characters.

Maybe all the others commenters didnt only see the cute face that you so much like to mention but the humanity and vulnerability of a young boy that even with the best intentions of the world, did something evil and had to pay for it, dearly. This is what the drama explicitly show us. No grandiose hypotheses on what we dont know, just his plain journey.

Despise what the drama openly show us you want to ignore his (explicit) vulnerability, humanity and young inexperienced behaviour but instead demonize him with made up hypotheses ? Ok.

As much as i can say that i agree on you that this story is ml journey that come to terms with who he is, I think that what we see of him is more a matter of interpretation.
You see him in a more crude, general way.
You see from where his money come.
No reason can be behind it.
And if there is,it is no excuse.

I see it in a more..logic and complex way.

Probably some of what you say came from your interpretation of his "service".
I took it for what it is.
He offer clients and protection
for prostitutes.
Those are the services he offer, not only a kind way to call what he do.
But exactly what i saw he did in the drama.
He doesn't manage the prostitutes, he coordinates their appointments and give them a bodyguard.
He doesnt have any contact with them aside from work, he doesnt force them to work, he doesnt care
for what they do in theyr live.
I am not an expert but a pimp consider prostitutes as mercandise and take full control of them.
He doesnt.

He only come in contact with ME when she couldnt work anymore but still ask for protection and
clients from him, now as a business boy, he should have denied her request after the firstfailure bacause no money no businnes. But he still gave her several chances before firing her.
He lost money by doing so but still did.
He show a human side that even modern companies do not have.

About his father, you cant really compare the 2 of them.
The father stole all the money of his son. But wrost of all, he didnt show any regrets or remorse for what he did. That, is what make him a real monster.
The ml works, an illegal and morally questionable work, but still work. And use his brain to reach his goal the best way he can with the less damage and pain for everyone.

He does this work to gain money fast when there are other way to survive. True. But this also applies to the prostitutes, they willingly sell themself because they want a lot of money and fast.
They do not only want to survive, they want to live.
So if his circumstances and his bad upbringing are not an exuse for the job he is doing neither are for those prostitutes.
And here i think that our interpretaion differ again.
Because in this drama you seems to see the prostitutes as victims. I dont.
Not only because the main prostitute we see here only want money to buy gifts for her bf and this make her not really a desperate one without other choice.
But also because ml offer a protective service, (and here again our different interpretaion of it), wich means that the prostitutes contacted him to become his clients, not the other way around. (even least recruit them!)
So he does not gain money at the expence of others, he use the girls like they use him.
He is just smarter and find an harder but better way than to sell his body to gain money.

Then again, his businness offer a client list and a bodygard!
Of course judo boys wouldnt need his services.
He does not need vulnerable people but phisically weak people because he offer a bodygard!
Not recruitment, but offering services.

For the idol. It is not "they" that cach him, it is the fl.
The new partner seems interested in find preys.
That is one reason why i say that she is worse than him.
ML doesnt look for prostitutes, but if he has an opportunity served on a silver plate by the fl it would be stupid for a businnes boy not to take it.
And he is smart enought to use the best way to gain it, it is strategy.
Awfull but smart, he still give the idol
1. the opportunity to freely get away with that call (reverse psicology it is not
a guarantee)
2. A way to adapt smotheer to the job needed by everyone.
Again, awfull but human.
Surely more human than the fl that directly recruited him and
would have ruined everything with her arrogant and brutal beaviour.

Then, when did he decided to become a murder? I missed it.
You talk about the gangster that wanted him death?
Or you talk about his classmate, the prostitute?
Because in that case it was an accident not a decision.
And if you look at the scene if he really would have only cared for the money and his identity he would have taken her phone as fast as he could and run away.
But he stopped near her, in shock and slowly try to touch the girl's head, before changing direction and take the phone intead. Again, he is bad but still has humanity because even if he took the phone the first thing the throught about was the hurt girl.
Bad, but not the wrost.

But my point is if the prostitutes are underage so is him.
If he is an adult so are the prostitutes.

About the ending. i was expecting a bad one, he was doing something bad and had to pay for it. So prison or death.
It still feel unfair. Even if what he did was clearly wrong, he still acted in the most human and decent way possible. And that was not an easy task. (Just look at the fl how cold and cruel she was with the prostitutes or how annoying and mindless the behaviour of the prostitute was ).
His young and inexperienced way of life can be show in his action.
He still never had ill intention, and it must mean something. There are people that willingly act in a more cruel, intentionally cruel, way and he is not like them. That is why despise what he did the ending feel a little unfair, And that is why in the end his mind was crumbling too,, only decent people would feel remorse.

Now, I dont justify the ml but i don't want to demonize him either.
In denalial are those that dont want to see everything but just the black and white of the situation and unreasonably be stuck with it.

I dont want to defend the ml but:

1. Not 100% sure, but in korea you are underage until 20-21 yo so it means that he is underage too, not only the prostitutes.

2. If you consider him an adult at 18yo it means that even the prostitues are adults, because even if it is not explicitly said, they have the same age, maybe even 1-2y more or maybe 1-2y less. Min hee go to the same class so she has the same age.

3. As awfull as it can be to use underage (like him) postitution, he only recruit client and take care of the prostitutes protection.
He didnt push anyone toward prostitution.
He also does not force them to work, it is theyr free choice (and i say free choice because if you want to prostituite yourself to buy gifts to your boyfriend is not really survival).

Probably from a teenager boy pov it is normal to think that girls of the same age of his can take decisions for themself like he do too. So they want to sell themself and he provide a service for that bussiness. Awfull, but he does not create prostitutes,he use them.
Even with the male idol, it was the fl that recruited him despise the ml saying no. This make her pretty awfull.

Anyway the girls and him are both desperate but he was smarter. He undestand how to use his brain instead of his body to gain money. He learnt how to menage the bussiness and did it all alone, not an easy task. Otherwise a girl could have taken his role but none of them was capable enought, that is why he doesnt need to sell himself off. They are all desperate and in need for money but he was smarter and more capable of all those girls.

Then, about the phone. The fl again was really, really awfull for what she did to the ml. She saw his desperation and had fun with it. Sadic.
And she did not do it because she wanted to give him a lesson for what he does. But because she wanted to be part of it.
Not for needs like him but for amusement or entertaiment.
If this doesnt make her worse than him i dont know what it does.

Not to mention that the ml at least treat the girls like human being, while fl act more like a beast and is just plain cruel .
