I still feel disappointend and unsatisfied with the OP.

Endings are always hard to create and after all the good work that the producers did with the whole drama you think that
the ending of such a worty serie would be as well executed as the whole drama...but it isnt.
They just copy and paste the novel's ending withouth even keeping in count the differences beetwen the 2 story that
they themself changed.
The whole "jump on the fishing boat" stuff as much as poetic and tragic it is, does not suits the drama after they created such a deep relationship with the trio mains, and they could have
used that as a start to give LL his well deserved happy ending.
I mean, in the novel no one knows about LLH poison, so
no one was there to help him and he just disappear
alone, but in the drama his friends knows and after all theyr efforts it would have been great to see LLH character grow a little, and learn a lesson that only as the calm and reflexive
LL could learn, but not as the pridefull LX,
to accept help instead of doing everything alone.

Now even if they stopped telling us the novel's story right before the last page to give us this OP, even if in a more soft and poetic way it still look to me like the novel's ending!
Becouse there are too many clue that lead to it, and sincerely
i dont like it, not in the novel and even less in the drama.
LL different hairstyle is a confirmaton that he isnt an illusion or a dream but may also suggest a "different" LL.
The scene near the sea, where now we see him there and
now he isnt there anymore may also suggest that he is there, alive, but he isn't here anymore becouse he doesn't remember anything anymore as in the novel.

Personally i think that if they didnt want to dissappoint the audience with a sad ending they should at have at least given us a light clear hint of a good ending in the OP.

I suppose i was influenced by reading the novel before the drama ending, so it seems more clear to me all the meanings behind the OP but at the same time it also precluded to me to think of other possibility beside the one i already logically see in this by following the clues.
Anyway the writers follow the exact same ending of the novel, even if I feel that it was forced here in the drama, they just cut out the last page/paragraph. So it is pretty oblivious to think that they deleted that scene on purpose, becouse OP make more people happy than a sad ending. The "alternate ending" could only be the simple sequel that clearly show the NE.
It will still be called an alternate ending becouse it is expressivly sad, while this one stop before, witouth showing it clearly, but leaving it to the immagination of the people that didnt read the novel. Sadly as i have already said before there are so many clues in this OE that point at the NE, and there is no logic explanation, to think otherwise. So as a logic person i really hope to find a good reason to not to belive in the sad ending if the "alternate ending" will air.

That is not my viewpoint but just the explanation that the novel give for LLH behavior in that state.
Then you can have your own interpretation of the things.
Besides....you want to be precise on detail that in most of the case are left to each own immagination.
So in my very pratical prospective LL still have his fighter instincts, besides he should still have his hearing and his sense of touch and feel wet when he get near the sea so to not felt
endangered by it (do not forget that this is a fantasy drama with qi and magical skill!).
And about not people, but just this particular person with inadequate health care with serious disabilities like near blindness and total amnesia enjoying the sun and the sea air, is something writen in the novel.
In my pratical prospective i just found it very plausible for this character.
Now lets stop concentrating on useless detail, i feel like i am using too much imagination today.

I too am saying that LL is alive, just as in the novel blind, mindless and without the use of his right arm.
The writers wanted to follow the novel ending even if it do not suits the drama but to not make the audience disappointed with a sad ending they created an opening ending, with unluckly a lot of clue that point to the original one.
I dont like it too as an ending, at all, but his eyes were witouth light and darker like when he was in the cell, and like in the cell he do not feel costantly pain, he got used to it, 3m passed.
Now, if you do not remember anything and still have problems with your memory even in the present and are also blind, would you stay in a panic state for 3m or in that time you resigned yourself to the situation? Remember that LL passed 10y trying to find his own peace.
Now he has problem remembering everything, so...he was just calmly enjoyng the sun (like he wanted to) and the sea air.

He was smiling becouse (even this was in the novel) he was almost blind and mindless but still enjoy the fresh air of the sea.
I dont like this too but all the clue lead to the novel ending.
I hope to be wrong.

I never thought he was dead becouse aside from FDB and DFS eye level and the dog looking up, the one that called LL a corpse was a homless person that probably saw a body on the beach and just took his things without checking first if the person was alive or death.
I mean when DFS was saved from the sea was more than alive but the guy with one eye still insisted on call him death even after he wake up.
Also FDB received the body news from the homeless person but what about DFS? why did he come at the same time? Probably his spies found LL and called for him.
I don't think FDB would have sent a message to DFS to check a body on the beach togheter.
If he just needed to check it he would have done it alone and eventually sent news to DFS. So he is alive.
But those are all speculation....

I saw few episodes of each of the drama you mentioned, they wheren't much interesting for me (so maybe i will try harder) but LAR? i remember why i dropped it...
The fl is just so dumb!!
I really can't undestand why ml is attracted to her!(but this happend in a lot of romantic drama),so i can ignore that but what i really can't stand to see was that in one episode maybe 6?7? or something, the ml was tortured, in costant pain, crawling on a snowy mountain, strugling for his survival and the drama alternate the scene of him with the fl training, like they both were facing the same difficulty.
Pity that the female lead was training in a paradise like place with lots of people that care for her, treat her with extreme patient and kindness and of course love.
It looked ridicoulous to even compare theyr 2 experiences!!!
I hate when the fl have it easy but still treated as the same of the ml that take ALL the hard part!
That is why i prefer friendship drama, they seems to share better the burden.

I sign up only to comment on this amazing drama and his amazing performance.
This is my 1st drama with him that i completed, i tried a couple of others but the fls are so annoying or dumb, still he is just so amazing that sooner or later i will force myself to see them just to see him! (I love how in IS his eyes become red before crying! So natural! My sadness build up while seeing those eye and then i melt when he cry!!)
For MLC i am already at my 3rd rewach and now and then i will comment some moments.
He is just so great, so expressive, and the effort he puts in his work and physical performance really amaze me!!!!
(Who do not love his expression and his eyes when he slowly approaches SG for the first time after 10 years he thought he was dead? His eyes just talk and that hurt! Than he actually talk and hurt more!!!)
This actor and his performance are so amazing i need to share!
