To those who have read the light novel: Does the series stay true to the original story? Any major changes?
I'm someone who read the manga some time ago and instantly fell in love with it. The dialogues between the two intelligent FL and ML and how they fight each other with intelligence surprised me and captivated me, not to forget how beautiful their character designs were! Oozing chemistry even though they are just drawings! I patiently waited for volume 2 and kept rereading the first volume.
But then one day I read in the comments that there won't be a sequel manga and I was devastated. So devastated that I decided to read the light novel, which I usually don't do. I didn't expect a fluffy romance, but the story still surprised me. Dark romance (might as well call it toxic), trust, betrayal, loyalty, love, etc. It covers lot of topics I've never seen this way. But nevertheless I still loved the story, mainly bc of the main couples dynamic, how they play mind games against each other and how complex both characters were. Also the 2nd couple is very cute!
That's why I'm really scared to start this series. Like visually they don't stand a chance against the manga character designs imo, but that's usually the case, since those are 2d drawings. But I'm also afraid that the dark elements of the stories might have been removed, since they might trigger the majority of the audience, but that would downgrade the story a lot and make it rather the usual story...
So as someone who loves the novel, is this series worth watching?
I read the webtoon very recently and binge read it over a week so I still had my memory of the story very fresh…
I think that might be the problem, that they kinda stayed too true to the webtoon, instead of adapting the story into a live action series 🤷🏾♀️ Semantic Error (my first BL series) had more changes and I think that's one of the reasons why the live action was very good, comparable to the webtoon... I think each media has it's own charms and CBAW didn't use them well...
I didn't enjoy the series, it might be, bc I watched it in 2022 for the first time after watching some other bl series. AePete had their cute moments and I liked Perth's acting, but I didn't like Saint's acting and didn't feel much of a chemistry between them. Pete is your typical "damsel in distress"-kdrama-FL in the first few episodes, I really hate that. And I have already watched WRU, in which I love TutorFighter as a couple as well as their characters, that's not the case for Pete. Even though I didn't want to, I automatically compared both pairs together and for me ZeeSaint is better, they were much more natural together than SaintPerth, their interaction felt very scripted. I liked Pond, even though he is very annoying, he is a very supportive friend.
As someone who already watched TharnType, I automatically imagined the actors from TharnType for some characters and I have to say, that I'm glad they casted new actors and it's a pity that the TharnType actors didn't appear in LBC (since this was filmed before TharnType).
It was a not bad adaptation, but added nothing to the original story. The webtoon is still much better than the series. In the first 1-2 I was very hyped, esp haebom was very cute, but as the series went on, I realised that it was rather plain... The series didn't give me any sparkles, it had sth missing for me. It's such a pity, since the original work was so good and could have turned into a better live adaptation. This series is not bad, but it didn't use up the potential the story had, so 7/10.
As all of us know it's a cliché poor FL x rich ML story. But I've read that it's well done and fun to watch (I mean currently the MDL rating is 8.8), so I did have a certain expectation, even if it wasn't much. And yes, I was disappointed. To be exact, it's the main characters that disappointed me the most.
Characters I don't know what's likable about the ML except his appearance (he's hella cute with his hair down!). I usually don't like flawless characters, since perfection makes them often inhuman & less charming, which is also the case here imo. He was cliché jealous, was throwing his money every way possible to show his love, has the cliché trauma, that almost nobody knows about, doesn't try to really understand the FL and bulldozes his way through to get the FL, etc. I really don't see his charming points... As for the FL, she is fun to watch, but felt very flat. She is just your typical romcom kdrama FL. I would have liked to see more of her passion for food, that would have added more to her character instead her job was used merely as a connection to ML. Wasted potential... I first liked the 2nd FL, but as time passed, she got annoying, especially after they started dating. I think her behaviour as a girlfriend was supposed to be funny, but for me that wasn't the case at all... 2nd ML was neither good nor bad. His appearance was fine of course ?
Romance 2nd couple's encounter was well done and how they got closer was good imo. What felt meh, was the main couple's story: The rich ML falls in love with the unique FL. It wasn't well executed imo. It had funny parts, but I think it could have been better. And as I have understood, FL doesn't really like the ML, but rather what he does for her in the name of love, which is mainly throwing around money.
When I watched this, I was reminded of What's wrong with secretary Kim, since both of series have similar ML (character & appearance) & both fall in love with their employees. I didn't like WWWSK much, since I didn't really understand how she fell in love with him, but I have to say it was better than Business proposal...
If you like this trope and don't need a deep character or story, you might like it a lot, otherwise it's not worth it imo.

Maxtul is known as the Kings of BL, so I was expecting sth (not much though), when I started with this series, my first Maxtul show. Idk if it's bc this is not romance focused, but I didn't feel much of their chemistry unfortunately... Honestly in the first 2-3 ep I felt a lot of good tension between them, but later on not much, or rather nothing... I will make sure to watch Tomorrow with you to give myself a chance to like Maxtul...
Aside from Maxtul chemistry, I also had some expectations for the story (again not very high), since I've read a lot of good comments. I got a little disappointed, there were some plot holes and much of the story was predictable (but it also had some very good plot twists), so I wasn't very impressed. Maybe bc I have already watched Not me, another BL series, that doesn't mainly focus on romance, so this wasn't really sth new for me.
The 2nd last scene was predictable for me as well & tbh I cringed a lot...
Nevertheless I liked ThatSorn, they were very cute!
I'm a binge watcher, so I don't watch shows, when they are airing, but only afterwards. For this series, I really thought about watching it, while it's ongoing. But in the end though, I decided to wait, because I think otherwise I'll be obsessed with nothing else but this series for at least 4 whole months 😅
It's a really good drama and gives you a good feelings after it's finished.BUT!! -and it's a general complaint-…
I understand you, I'm also sick of all those break ups, but in this case, I would say it's necessary. Like the whole point of this show is whether to choose happiness or "normality", so the break up was necessary to show Akira's unhappiness choosing normality. W/o the break up Akira wouldn't have fully understood it and would have lived in doubt...
so i dropped in the middle of ep 13 due to fluke's cringey acting (sorry i couldnt stand it)... do u guys think…
I totally understand you, he kind of ruined yokdan for me... But thankfully I could endure his acting & finish the series... It's a good show, so don't let his acting stop you
