This is a wonderful article! Thank you for writing and sharing it! (Currently watching Dr. Romantic 2 so it's timely. Hahaha!)
Though I tend to read a little about illnesses or conditions that come up in dramas, I'm always skeptic on the possibilities of the way they're treated onscreen. I'm just generally glad to learn some medical terms when watching medical dramas.
I know Kamiki has acted in some dramas/movies with bits of romance, but I think it's the first time when he got a show which is mainly romance. I'M SO HYPED FOR THIS! (Now I gotta go finish watching the two 3-Gatsu no Lion films where those two are together, too.)
I've been waiting for this to finish so I can binge-watch it till the end. Now that it's over, I'm going to start later! Yaaay! And thank you for the very well-written article. It's engaging and convincing. When I first read the plot, I have to admit that it made my eyebrow rise. I'm also not a big Arimura Kasumi fan plus the lead guy is a total newbie. But then, the director's the same one who did Unnatural (ahh, I really loved that show!), so I was conflicted. I got more curious when it started airing and I saw LOTS of positive reviews. Can't wait to start it later~ :D
PS. That was an amusing story you had with your family. I really hope I'll be able to improve my Japanese skills more so that I can confidently watch unsubbed shows. (There's just a lot of them! >_<)
Out of all these, I've only seen ISWAK, Devil Beside You, and Just You. The others are on my PTW list. Except Fabulous Boys and Someone Like You (this I shall add to my list!). Bromance is on my on-hold list. I've wanted to watch Mars for so long but I just can't find the right mood for it. >_<
My first Taiwanese film is a series called Lavender. That's where I first saw Rainie Yang, though she's just a supporting character there. Of the few ones I've seen of T-dramas, I loved Autumn's Concerto, In Time With You, and Skip Beat! I shall watch more. *^*
10. Nomura Shuhei! <3 Ever since I saw him in Chihayafuru movies, I started looking after his shows. He expresses emotions well. 9. Chiba Yudai's been on my radar since OHSHC, too! It's interesting how he's got various roles which got him acting as an office guy, though I think he's still young-looking and passable as a student. 8. Mamiya Shotaro impressed me with his acting in Gakkou no Kaidan. He's hilarious in Mr. Nietzsche, too! He has a strong presence on screen. 7. I liked him in NigeHaji and Code Blue S3 and yes, I think he's one of the talented actors there. Looking forward to see his other shows. :D 6. I only saw him in Ie Uru Onna and I liked his acting. Watching out for his future shows! 5. First saw him in Paradise Kiss then in other shows, but, for me, he stood out in N no Tame ni. I haven't watched his latest dramas, though I'm planning to. I'm glad he got the role of Suou in Chihayafuru: Musubi! :D 4. SAKAKEN! <3 I love this guy so much. I really hope he'll get to star in his own (romance) drama, too! His romance movies are heartbreaking for me. >_< 3. Whoa. He only have 4 movies and 1 drama this year? I feel like I'm seeing him everywhere so I thought there's more! I have to admit that I didn't like him that much until I saw him in variety shows. He's a charming and fun guy. (He's close with Kamiki Ryunosuke, Sakurada Dori, Mackenyu, Masaki Suda, and Yoshizawa Ryo. *^*) So, I got to appreciate his acting in the end. But yeah, I haven't seen a performance of him that blew me away yet. 2. Quartet's Iemori! <3 I've got to watch his other shows! 1. Takeuchi Ryoma! <3 I liked him in Aozora Yell and Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo, but I loved him so much because of Kahogo no Kahoko! He's so adorable! I love how he delivers his lines and his expressions. I feel like his eyes speak.
So when will Sakaguchi Kentaro actually have a role where it's not impossible for him to end up happily with the girl? (Tho I'm just assuming seeing that, well, the lead girl here is from a black-and-white movie.) ;A; Still, looking forward to this!
Thank you for this article! I've been wondering what lakorns to watch. Full House is actually my first lakorn and I enjoyed it very much, even more so than the original version. I was able to watch Ugly Duckling: Perfect Match, too, because it's short.
Since I haven't been watching a lot of dramas lately, I only know those which are usually on my feeds and This Life is one of them, so it's really on my plan to watch list.
But this I want to say: I don't think an article like this is what is needed to encourage people (who chose to ignore the said show because the premises seems similar) to check out This Life. With the sound of it, the two series have completely different characters, intent, tone, and focus that it's unjust to compare them. Not to mention they don't even have the same source material and one is already completed while the other is currently airing. It would have been better had you wrote a Currently Watching-type of article, citing there points to encourage people to watch This Life, instead of this kind where it's crucial for the writer to know how to properly weigh two things. You can actually encourage people to watch certain shows without downplaying others (see: your choice of words).
I hope that when you write something like this in the future, you'll be able to consider a lot more factors. Nice try, though.
Yay for the return of the quoting feature for the forums! And YAAAY for being able to look good on mobile/tablet and for the addition of the screenwriters and directors as well as variety shows on the database!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the effort you exerted for the site to be like this, Skye, Jin, and everyone behind MDL! So excited for MDL's future developments. :)
explaination on why this show is so popular cause the summary dosen't make me wanna watch it
I think you should just see at least the first episode for yourself in order to see the charm that Takahata Mitsuki and Takeuchi Ryoma brought to what sounded like another cliche story. It's somehow a coming-of-age story. :>
This is a wonderfully written article! I enjoyed reading it because of the way you wrote it. ItaKiss and HYD are definitely two of my guilty pleasures. And this reminded me to finish Bromance (but I prolly have to start from the beginning because I barely remember anything about it). I've been putting Last Cinderella on hold, too. OTL
Anyway, looking forward to that next article of yours! Good job with this one! :)
For anyone who's read the manga: Does the story has a love triangle, because I feel like these types of plot…
It does have a triangle (well, technically, three are interested in the male MC). I have no idea how this movie will go, though, because aside from the girl sharing the same surname as one of the manga's characters, those three here have nothing to do with those on the original source. They're completely different characters.

I really should at least learn CPR. *^*
