Very very very good! I cannot recall a drama, which positively, realistically addressed and raised awareness about mental health issues as this series did. I am certain this has helped many viewers, who had tuned in, identify psychological ailments they might have been dealing with for the longest time without realizing it.

Letting people know that illnesses of the mind are as valid, as important and as treatable as illnesses of the body, and letting them know that there is help out there for them was a tremendous undertaking with potentially great societal impacts.

I thought the actors delivered a brilliant performance, especially the great Chin Shih Chieh, Shawn Dou, Peng Guan Ying (Chen Yi Fan), Cai Lu (Tian Tian), Du Ning Lin (Lisa's mother) . I felt a greater chemistry between Yan Shu Ren and Chen Yi Fan than between Shu Ren and Sun Shu (who had practically none).

I highly recommend this to anyone dealing with mental health issues, and anyone with a close friend or relative struggling with their mental health.

I rarely feel that the second lead is as equally, if not more deserving of the main female protagonist than the first lead. But in this particular case, it was impossible not to want Yi Pei and Shi Jian to end up together, especially after things took a turn for the worst.

But the theme of the drama is the unyielding, unconditional and selfless love for a single soul, so the ending made perfect sense, and that little twist with Yi Pei was impeccable.

Great watch!

I really liked this drama, and it has stuck with me since I saw it two months ago.
I have already gone back to re-watch certain bits of it a couple or so more times, but have yet to shake it off and get it out of my system.

What a surprise to see that Fukada Kyoko was underage when the series was filmed (only 16)! Should Takeshi Kaneshiro have been kissing her that passionately :-o?

With its 1998 age-tag and a show synopsis that mentioned that the FL had contracted the HIV virus, I was naturally…
A concise and eloquent perspective on this series, which should perhaps be posted in the Reviews Section above as well.

Thanks for sharing.

What a tragic story!

I had heard references to the tale of Yaoya Oshichi in certain Japanese dramas and movied, as it is part of the Japanese folklore, so it was nice to finally get to know the historical details of what exactly occurred.

Everyone at the exception of the two protagonists had a personal agenda, which ultimately resulted in the tragic end we now know.

Oh, the cruelty and selfishness of the human nature!

"People who love, will never lose to those who do not."

A very dark series, though I strongly would like to believe in a happier ending for both protagonists... A miraculous end... A miracle born of their love.

Very uniquely done, as only the japanese know how to. Even if the series does not pull you in within the first episode, do not drop it; stick with it. Things pick up by Episode 2, and get really interesting thereafter.

The fact that an unconventional yet true love blossomed out of all the circumstances was absolutely marvellous.

Highly recommended.

I agree with you. But I also I think the ending was really beautifully written. It gave a lot of honour to the…
Ruyi does indeed make sense from a cohesive writing and historical standpoint; you are perfectly correct. I, akin to you, did like the ending as well. The viewer feels that it does the personage justice. Thanks for your insight.

Is Ms. Laurinda Ho about to take him off the market? Gosh, I should have met him when he was growing up in Vancouver! Now, I have zero chance of ever seeing his 'heartmeltingly' gorgeous smile up close and personal.

The man is talented, his delivery always seems effortless with his captivating gaze, sultry voice and oh-so-natural expressions. The viewer can't help but feel a direct connection to him. He possesses a terrific on-screen presence and charisma.

I wish him well, and I hope to see him in more roles, which will challenge him in his craft.

This production is oh-so daring and of an undeniable excellence, I had to binge-watch it like most here probably have or will.

I've never seen any Taiwanese dramas of this caliber; absolutely stunning! The riveting plot, brilliant performances, superb cinematography, and all the eye-candy had me glued to the screen until the end. The villain behind all this was on another level of fucked-up! Even psychiatric asylums do not manufacture that brand of crazy.

This gets quite dark with some awesome plot-twists in the last 2 episodes, so be prepared for some mind-fuckery, a touch of gore, and a sprinkle of hardcore porn.

Enjoy!

"The cruelest lies are told in silence."

Beware of those you sleep with! As the t-shirt said: "Love Kills."
There are many high-functioning psychopaths and narcissists amongst us. They tend to be the extremely successful lawyers, doctors, venture capitalists, financiers, CEOs, or in this case, the novelist next door.
Great movie, awesome plot!

Ever seen what a horny angel looks like? If not, check this out, lol.
I had a problem with Athena's prickly personality, and do not understand why anyone would want her as a love interest. But as the saying goes, love is blind... even when it comes to angels.

Gosh, I had forgotten what a masterpiece this film was! 15 years later, it still gives me the same high and provides a similar sublime experience to the one I went through when I initially watched it. A definite classic, and a must-see!
