The production of this drama was top notch *chefs kiss* and the acting was really good BUT the story itself seemed…
I agree with what you said. It is a shame more Japanese dramas aren't obtained by Netflix. I love Korean Dramas as much as anyone, but I do like Japanese dramas too. They are usually a bit more esoteric or gritty than Korean offerings.
Remember it's just a show. Sometimes you just have to go with things. That's what I do anyway.
I disagree vehemently. You say call it just fiction, why? There are so many ridiculous things in the Science Fiction genre. Your quibbles are nit picking at best. I am not here to criticize you per se. But what I do suggest is you not try to be high brow when most of the science fiction genre is fantasy. That is its inherent beauty. The fanciful. Some try to be more plausible than others, but to try to hold them to the scientific method or whatever is close to absurd. So you can't suspend belief as much as some others, that's fine. Just understand that some just want to be swept up in some good escapism rather than critique a piece of work for it's holding to the laws of nature. I for one thought this was a great bit of story telling. I had a lot of fun and look forward to the next set of episodes. Cheers. Have a good day
I am still on episode 10 and there is nothing remotely captivating me. I am thinking of dropping it. Can anyone convince me to stick with it? It's sad too because Reply 1988 is my favorite drama ever...easily.
I agree. I'm on episode 10 and it is a slog. Nothing is compelling to me. I truly am confused by the high rating. All it seems they do is eat. Every episode, several times every episode...eat. I know Korean Dramas have lots of scenes built around eating, but this drama takes it to a new level!! Sheesh. Their friendship is nice, but when nothing much compelling goes with it, it gets stale quickly.
I couldn't agree more. I really am puzzled why its so popular. I'm on episode 10 and nothing has interested me. Their friendship is nice, but really it seems the only thing they really do in this drama is eat. Every episode, several times in each, they are eating or getting together to eat. Lol. Not much in plot or compelling drama.
Likely unpopular opinion, but this series is not doing much for me. I'm on episode 10 and nothing is really compelling to me. It just seems like all they do is eat. I know many dramas eating is a big part, but this drama takes it to a new level. Sheesh. Lol. I'm soldiering through. Trying very hard to find something truly interesting about it, but nothing has captivated me yet. Sigh.
I liked it actually. Some have whined and complained, but if you have watched enough Japanese films, series and anime, there is not anything new here. You either enjoy this type stuff or you don't. I love it.
I just watched it and it was WONDERFUL. I simply adore Deok Sun...er...Hyeri. She is just sweetheart. The movie poster leads one to believe this is a light hearted comedy. No it's not really. There are a few laughs, but that hardly makes for a comedy. It's a poignant little film with that arthouse indie feel. Strongly recommend. It's on Asian Crush as of September 28th, 2021
I am having a hangover of A River Runs Through It even though 4 episodes are still remaining in it (I already…
I forgot to mention, if it's any consolation, Jung Hwan aka Ryu Jun Yeol had been dating Deok Sun aka Hyeri in real life since the conclusion of Reply 1988. I believe they are still together.

Also I appreciate Jung Hwan. He was selfless. Though his heart was breaking about Deok Sun, he also loved Taek. He was not about to get between anything. He stood back and allowed things to happen as they should even if that meant his heart ended up breaking. He loved his brother much the same way. Whether he went into the military to be a pilot truly for himself or secretly for his brother, we will never fully know. Jung Hwan simply was a strong and good person that never once sought recognition. He was stoic and quiet through it all.

Big typo!!! Jung Hwan WAS WAS WAS savvy and could handle himself. It was always Taek that was kinda socially awkward and aloof. Deok Sun was such a perfect fit. The whole trip to China and how she took care of him better than anyone, including his own father, showed why Taek needed her so much.
