But for me, the whole 'who she would end up with thing' was so unimportant to me. It was about the families, friendships and neighborhood that was important to me. The nostalgia and love that permeated the series. My heart was enamored from start to finish. I was completely enraptured in that world. I never wanted to leave. I wish it could have gone on forever and ever. To live in that world...sigh. It will never ever leave my heart.

I was completely with Deok Sun ending up with Taek. He needed her. It was established throughout that Taek was lacking and Deok Sun competed him. Jung Hwan was savvy and could handle himself. Taek needed Deok Sun. But I know people were divided.

If you haven't watched Reply 1988, watch it. You won't be disappointed. Reply 1988 is easily my favorite drama, movie series (from any county) ever.

Yeah I thought the same thing. It's kinda silly. Most watching would have thought her beautiful.

We like to talk about and point out the Korean Drama cliches and tropes, but as many know Japan has them too. If you've watched enough anime or Japanese series and films, there are there. This film was nothing more than a live action anime. But like the well worn tropes of Korean Dramas, though we have seen this in anime and Japanese find we still love them no matter how many times we have seen certain plot points or characters. This film was fine. Just ok. Nothing great, but nothing terrible. We've all been there done that, but that's ok.

This movie kicks @$$. The plot is serviceable for a revenge, hostage rescue type action flick. It gets the job done. My biggest question is why? What in the world made this woman's sister such that so many different people pursued and treated this one semi mentally handicapped young girl so horribly. Then to use so many resources from hired men and money over the possession, trade or selling of this girl. That was the most difficult thing to swallow. But I let that go and just sat back and enjoyed the ride. And for anyone that cares, this film has a woman that kicks the crap out of every dude she meets. So women driving action films keeps growing and growing. I love Lee Shi (Si) Young and here she does not disappoint. She is so thin, yet pulls off the tough, kick butt action star so easily!! Check it out!!

I love how you opened this. I too often account for the ratings being too influenced by younger, late teens into 20 something, most likely females who idolize the likes of BTS scoring something low because it goes against their silly sensibilities. Am I saying all younger women who like BTS and other KPop stars will rate immaturely, no of course not, but when I read comments and reviews I can't help but draw such conclusions to their narrow mindedness. Lol. Your point is very much true as far as I'm concerned!

Wow. Very good movie. There are many things in life that contribute to intolerance of others be it the color of their skin, their ethnicity, sexual proclivity...but if somehow we open our hearts, of have our hearts opened for us, we see that good people, with good hearts are there and should be accepted. In the end we are all people. We love, we hurt, we want to be loved. Just do your best to see that in each other. This life passes so quickly. Try to see the good in others.

This was suggested to me recently. I can't wait to watch it.

HA!!!! Just started this and it has Na Moon Hee!!! I love this woman so much. She is funny and so unique. I first saw her in Padam Padam. She was wonderful. I think I'm going to really like this drama.

Not even 10 minutes into it and my eyes are welling up with tears.

I'm starting it right now. Hoping it's as wonderful as it sounds.

Just finished this up. A very sweet drama. It brought tears a few times indeed. I loved every character of course, but especially granny and Huang Deng Deng. Li Yu was wrong to never embrace her fully. It implies he might in the future, at least how I see it, but when it was evident Xang Xi was completely hung up on Hua Biao, then he should have opened his heart to the incredibly sweet Huang Deng Deng. Just my opinion. It was no where as good as Reply 1988. It is likely unfair to compare them, but they are kinda in the same ballpark. Still judged on it's own merits this is a wonderful and sweet drama and everyone should give it a watch. It's on Viki as of August 19th, 2021. Enjoy.
