Just starting this on Viki. Immediately I get a Reply 1988 feel. Reply 1988 is my all time favorite by miles so if this turns out true to be like Reply 1988 I'll be incredibly happy. Even if it isn't quite as good I know I'll enjoy it. I enjoyed Girls Generation 1979 because it had a vibe like Reply 1988 even though it wasn't quite as good. Super excited to get into this one!!!

The beginning, like the very opening, was very reminiscent in style to Reply 1988. The age of the main characters in high school, the friendships and some situations similar, but the tone for the most part is or at least through 3 episodes is much lighter. However, I am enjoying it very much. Is it anywhere as good as Reply 1988...no. Not even close. But then again only one drama is even closer to Reply 1988 and that is Romance of Our Parents. Still, this is very fun and enjoyable. We'll see how it goes as I'm about to start episode 4. 21 more episodes, anything can happen.

So many people trashing this movie for very similar reasons. How difficult it is to watch and infuriating the mother is. However, it is this very reaction that is a tribute to his stark and effecting this movie is. It brilliantly gets its message and time across. In a way the more people knock this movie, the people should understand how good it is.

I'm glad. That is why I prefaced it the way I did. This was written from my heart and was completely honest. I'm glad it spoke for you. I just wish I was a bit better writer... Especially grammar! Lol. Thank you.

I just completed this. I love the Peanut sized King Kong. Some are saying it's not worth the 8.7. Well over 65,000 reviewers would disagree. I think sometimes if something is light hearted it is more difficult to score higher. Why do you think at the Academy Awards you never see a comedy with Best Picture? Is that fair...maybe, but likely not. I'm glad to see most people scoring this high. It was such a wonderful, fun drama. Yes the sinister parts were a little dark for the overall tone, but they in no way detracted from the fun this drama offered. And the lead, my goodness is she a sweetie. So beautiful and adorable!! She stole my heart. I am a sucker for short girls with short legs so she owned my heart start to finish. Just go into this looking for a good time. ***Tiny spoiler here*** People ask in the comments all the time about if the ending is happy/sad...this one MEGA happy, warm, fuzzy ending. You will end this with a smile ear to ear. It will make your day brighter. In this moribund world a happy ending drama is always welcome!!!

You've sold me on it. I am just finishing the charming and fun 'Strong Woman Do Bong Soon', this will be the perfect antithesis to that. What you described is what lights my heart up so I'm excited. Thank you for the review.

I just started this and like many, even those who ended up not likely this drama, enjoyed the beginning. I have read the complaints, however, I'm betting I will be with those that still liked it. Sometimes it's good to get expectations set before watching something. Some people try pathetically to be too clever and pseudo intellectual and deconstruct something too seriously. I am choosing to just have fun with this. Yes I am expecting that the sinister parts may get too sinister for the light tone much of this drama takes. I am also not expecting too much from the story being coherent. I'm in it for some laughs and light hearted fare. Plus, the gal playing the lead is so incredibly adorable it makes my heart burst!!! If anyone can think like me, definitely give this a chance.

Just finished this. What a wonderful drama. I have the same complaint as most, it should have been longer. My all time favorite series by far is Reply 1988. This had a similar vibe. I hope more KDrama writers take advantage of setting their dramas in the 70s and 80s. Such perfect time periods - even 60s and 50s would be interesting too I suspect. This is such a brief drama in 8 episodes. If you love Reply 1988 or love the vibe from the past, definitely give this a watch - so very charming

One more thing, there are two other Replys. Reply 1997 - the first one, then Reply 1994. I was so so on Reply 1997. It definitely appeals to much younger viewers, and likely female. Reply 1994 was better to me than 97. It was clearly a shift that showed it was setting the tone for Reply 1988. It really is a go between as the writers honed their skills and perfected their writing for 1988. Still Reply 1994 is no where as good as Reply 1988. But it's hard to compare to perfection.

Thank you for the info on season 2. I have watched Youth twice. It's on Tubi right now I believe. Oh my yes, please watch Reply 1988. It is simply the most wonderful, most perfect drama movie ever. Better than anything I've ever viewed before - American or anywhere else. It has profoundly affected me. I'm 49 and I'm the exact age as those depicted in the series. I was born 1971 like all of them. I may have grown up in America, but there are still many wonderful similarities apparently to those who grew up in Korea at the time. The casting to me is simply perfection. Every actress/actor is perfect. I don't believe I've ever remotely lived a more convincing world as that of Reply 1988. EVERY character is so completely fleshed out. They give time to every character...the depth is staggering. It makes me wish so much I could have grown up there in that neighborhood with those families and friends. Like Romance of Our Parents, I didn't want it to end. I wanted to stay in the warm glow and love of that world. If you do take the time to watch, maybe clear your schedule as best you can, make make it so you have as little distractions as possible and lose yourself. I can't believe you wouldn't be every bit as taken with it as myself and so many others.

This really saw a theatrical release here in America?? Wow! I'm guessing only the biggest of markets Los Angeles, New York and maybe a select other places.

The funny thing is I purposely came here to see if you had commented. I wanted to know if you had seen this film. I adored this film. I think our paths first crossed at Romance of Our Parents, my second all time favorite drama ever second only to Reply 1988. This film had certain vibes similar to parts of Romance of Our Parents. Side note...it breaks my heart that I can no longer find a place to watch Romance of Our Parents. It left Netflix a while ago. I found it on YouTube, but no English subs. Let me take this opportunity to ask you, of you EVER come across Romance of Our Parents with English subs, I beg you from the bottom of my heart, on my knees to let me know. I would pay a lot even to either see it with English subtitles or better to own it with English Subtitles. I bought Reply 1988 to own for the rest of my life, I would love to own Romance of Our Parents the same way. Thank you.
