We Best Loveβ¦.now that is and excellent series about a reluctant at first love. Everything this series isnβt.
It starts right after Christmas, I'm hoping. . . π¬π€π½ When I saw 'Line TV', I thought, "It's not happening". . .but so far, it looks like this one is ready for everybody. π
We Best Loveβ¦.now that is and excellent series about a reluctant at first love. Everything this series isnβt.
π€£ Darth Vader came to mind for me. For most of the Season 2. . .I thought the Dad was Mafia. . . .or an architect. . .those were quite the modern homes Zhou and his Dad lived in. . . π¨π½βπ¨
I still love how Gao basically broke into Zhou's house and made him fried rice. π
I might have to do another rewatch of both shows when we get 'Remember Me' and 'Ai Long Nhai' and 'My Tooth, Your Love' taken care of. π
While most people will make hot chocolate and spend Christmas watching Jimmy Stewart and Chevy Chase. . .I'll drink egg nog and watch Taiwanese BLs. π€£
I just can agree to this. This is a story for Win and Team and not for sudden other side couples. ManowPruek and…
Angry Santa. . . π€£π€£ Right away, this made me think of the scene in the bakery, where he was like, "Don't touch Seeiw's hair. . .I'm the only one allowed to touch Seeiw's hair !!" π
I wish Win and Team had more screen time, especially considering this is a shorter series. I usually donβt mind…
I agree with you on wanting more Win-Team time. . .mainly because they're fun to watch in every single scene. π₯° I would be all in favor of 90% of the show being Win-Team (and skip most of the side couple scenes), but then, when I take a step back, I have to accept it exactly as it is for a few reasons. π
If there was a Season 2 already story-boarded for this one, I'd have a different attitude about the pace of the story, but with 12 episodes, I'll need to be more accepting. β€οΈ
The shooting schedule for this one was probably 8-10 weeks and on a budget, so if we got a series of mainly just Win & Team, that would put us around 700 minutes of edited scenes and another 5 hours' worth of scenes that would have to be filmed with them. π³
In other words, Boun & Prem would have had to work in front of the cameras for 200 hours instead of 150 for more of their scenes, and that's guaranteed a recipe for a lot of added work and stress. π₯π¬π₯
And, between 'My Only 12%', "Even Sun', 'Coffee Melody' and '609 Bedtime', these guys have worked their butts off this year already to make up for lost time during the COVID restrictions.
If I look at it that way, the Bee & Prince scenes, and the Tul & Wan scenes gave Boun & Prem a break from being over-worked to finish the series. π₯΅ Who knows, too. . .if these side couple scenes for Benz, or Oreo, or Santa, or Sammy will open the door for them to get called in for another series later? π . . .as long as it isn't 'What the Duck 3'. . .π
Santa alone is probably sitting on 15 new scripts after being in 'My Only 12%'. π
I wish big-time for double the Win-Team scenes, but I'm going to be happier accepting the balance here as it is, given the time and money they had to work with in the last three months. π₯π¬π¨π½
As long as I'm not going for the FF 1.5X button on the remote, they can do anything with this series. . .and we get to see sleep-over cuddles in each episode. ππ«π
We Best Loveβ¦.now that is and excellent series about a reluctant at first love. Everything this series isnβt.
I actually liked Season 2. . .right up until they revealed that Gao and Zhou's Dad had made a 5-Year deal with each other. π€¨ That broke the spell of the whole relationship from there onwards. π
We Best Loveβ¦.now that is and excellent series about a reluctant at first love. Everything this series isnβt.
In that series, it was how long before we finally saw the, "Hey. . .can I sleep in your bed ?. . . . .You want to give me cuddles, too? . . .OK, you can give me cuddles. . .and then breakfast, let me use your shower, borrow your shirt, and sneak in a quick kiss before I go to class". π
We made it all the way to December and to Episode #9 and they actually did it. π They killed Grandfather. π Sick bastards. . . π Goodbye, pickled fish, I guess. ππππ
I was surprised to be even more dismayed by the way Champ's family handled the whole thing. π Champ seemed cold and detached from all of them, but they did get what they deserved. Grandfather was his mentor and role model and a phone call at the bus station doesn't work for me. This one is going to require a family meeting at the table, joining hands, to fix. πΏ
I'm with everyone else that can't get over the 180-degree difference between Golf's Dad and Gun's Dad. ππ Golf's is like, "WOW", and Gun's is like. . ."meh. . ." π Gun's Dad is a very difficult character to read, so I can't guess what he's going to think of his new son-in-law. π¬
This reunion between Name and Em was long, long, long overdue, and it had to happen sooner or later. π₯΅ Em needed to physically show up in person to save any shred of decency he had left. . .and he did. π He even directly apologized to Name for being so out of touch. . .add 50 bonus points. ποΈ
I liked how quickly so many issues were resolved in #9, but my trust in Em keeping his word isn't lighting up the heavens yet. π€¨ He's dropped the ball for the last five episodes, and it's going to take me a while yet. This episode reminded me a bit of the "Three Years Later" that gets carefully inserted into several of these shows, where everybody picks up where they left off like they had just run into town for an hour for bubble tea, and everything is perfect again. π§ ππ§
With that in mind, Name was definitely taking the high road for being so forgiving to both Em and his Mom for their version of 'shock therapy' on him. π₯ It would have taken me a lot longer to forgive and forget the excessive loneliness we saw in him for the whole month of November.
I was also impressed with Name for being so willing to talk so soon and so much after Em arrived home. It makes me wonder if, in a more perfect world, Name would have been better off going to Bangkok with all of them and living somewhere close to campus for the last three years. . .if for any other reason than to not go it alone for so long. It's only about 2009 here, and he still has to go through this shut-in experience again later with the COVID-19 lockdowns. π
Episode #5 already. . .Wow. π³ We've come this far, and we still aren't up to the UWMA Open House yet. I was thinking we'd be up to Christmas by Episode #3, but I guess they're going to save the Christmas scenes for. . .Christmas. π Why not? π They did a great job of starting this series in early November if that was the intent. π
I was happy with this whole episode, even the side couples, the high-pressure Dad, and all of the food that lights up Team's eyes as much Win does. π€ It was about time we got far enough into the story to start hearing from Team's family, and a little more with Win's.
In other shows, these scenes (along with the side couples) would usually be distracting us away from the time we want with the main couple. . .but so far, it seems all right and is balanced just enough. π Even Bee and Prince are welcome at the party. π¨π½ββ€οΈβπ¨π½ The makeup looks a lot better now, too. πππ
For one scene, I almost thought that Team and Manow were going to be our next side couple. π There is a cardinal rule in all of the BL series that once you share earbuds together, you're officially dating. πΆπ₯πΆ Team and Manow have broken the 'Seventh Seal'. π―οΈπ§
There were a lot of small details thrown into this episode that I loved, too. π First, it's now all but certain for Win that he isn't ever leaving the grocery store again without at least two bags of Lay's in the cart. . .he might as well write it in ink on the grocery list and leave it there. π€£ π
Team has also been upgraded to 'Frequent Flyer Status' upstairs in Win's room. . .after dark, the door is unlocked for sleepwalkers. π₯±
Their latest sleepover has taught me, "Find you somebody who wakes you up and already has the toothbrush and toothpaste ready for you on the sink". πͺ₯π And then makes you breakfast. ππ₯ Win needs to make bigger meals for himself nowadays. . .last time, Team took all of his shrimp; this time, he lost the egg. π¦π¦π¦π³
And then. . .the necktie. π Who out there is with me that Team's heart rate climbed to 90bpm when Win was putting on that tie for him? π₯΅
On the scarier side, I see we are moving towards Episode #6 with them feeling so strongly about each other that are either terrified of falling in love. . .or of hurting each other. π£ There are a lot of strong ideas in here about where this is all going, so I'll just leave those two guesses there.
Being one for making a lot of careful guesses and still being wrong, I'm going to make a strong assumption anyway, that Team's brother is at home with his parents under special care or is in an assisted-living facility near his parents. π¨π½β𦽠I'm thinking the PTSD swimming accident left Team's brother with a lack of oxygen to the brain or other complications, and that when Team does go home, his brother will be bedridden, and Team will be apprehensive about going to see him because he feels guilty for not preventing the accident. It's far-fetched, but they've dropped a few hints in that direction. π€
In recent months, the only plot twist that I've been 100% right about is that "Rain is alive and hiding under the stables", so I'm giving myself 50/50 on this one. π¬
First, we have to get Team back on the correct side of the swimming pool. π¨ I saw in the teaser that Win was only seconds away to help him, so Team owes him a 'Thank You' just for being around nearby to always keep tabs on him. After the cramp eases, he'll probably be hungry and want food. π
He should have watched 'We Best Love' and learned the lesson from that. . ."Don't go swimming alone in a BL. . .you'll sink to the bottom just to add angst to the scene". π₯
I think we have enough angst coming up next week without the concern for the extra-long swim. π¬
Another week of just amazing couple development. How they communicate is just beautiful to watch. They have this…
They'll work this one out. . .thankfully, we know from UWMA that they have to be smiling and bright together for the outing to see the Christmas lights coming up in the next episode or two (or three). π₯°π π ππ₯°
Did you see the rooftop scene where Dew was in his pajamas, and he was wearing one red shoe? π£No. . .I'm kidding.…
'Lunopolis' is summed up as an investigation into a conspiracy theory that:
Time travel was perfected to send a team back to 350BC, make their way through the eons, fix history's mistakes and make 2012 happy.
There was another team that built bases on the moon and monitored the errors and fixes.
If they got to 2012 and found things worse than they had started, the team would go back to 350BC again and do it over.
This piling of new timelines over the old ones happened dozens of times to the extent that some people could see the events of the other timelines along with the present one.
They encountered danger and hid out in a remote villa for three months and secretly planned out their return to the civilized world. π¦
Actually. . .not that last one, but you get the idea. π When OMSN melted parts of my brain, I had flashbacks of this movie and what I tried to surmise from that story. π΅βπ«
I'm thinking that this series here will explain the mysteries of the universe a bit better, so I'll come here every Friday rather than watch the movie for a 12th time (the other 11 times includes those where I fell asleep 22 minutes into the movie). π
In these first few episodes, I had pictured the three brothers, with Win being the oldest and then Wan & Wiew being close to the same age a few years behind him. π¨π½π±π½ββοΈπ¨π½ I was off by quite a few years again. π
Even in real life, Boun and Oreo are just about the same age and Santa is 8 years younger than them. π³ I had forgotten Oreo was older than 20, even after trying to forget the hours I had spent watching 'What the Duck 2'. π€£
Did you see the rooftop scene where Dew was in his pajamas, and he was wearing one red shoe? π£No. . .I'm kidding.…
I was catching myself comparing this storyline with 'The Time Traveler's Wife' and, more recently, 'Triage', but this series has a lot of original curves thrown at us to make it a lot better than revisiting a reboot of something. π
I had been thinking more of "the previous 609 tenant" vs "the present 609 tenant", but now I'm on board with the idea of the parallel universe in two separate timelines. . .kind of like "Lunopolis" was when it came out 10 years ago in the US. π½ππ½ "Lunopolis" might not be the best example, (because it was a low-budget independent film) but it trained me well for being here and trying to wrap my mind around meeting up with someone like Dew & Mum together.
After watching that movie 11 times, I was still finding new things in it, so I still haven't reached total consciousness with it. π§π½ If you check into it, be patient with it. π I might be one of only 3.000 people who have seen it. π
If this show here frees us from white suits, speedboats and bounty hunters, I'll watch Ohm & Fluke every week. . .even if this series forms a band, morphs into a cooking show, or adds squeaky sound effects. πΈπ«ππ€‘
Like you said, too, seeing anything with Ohm & Fluke that takes our minds off of "the villa" will have me at the top of the page here giving this show a 9.5. π
Not an apple π in sight and weβre on Episode 2β¦people we could have a winner!
Did you see the rooftop scene where Dew was in his pajamas, and he was wearing one red shoe? π£
No. . .I'm kidding. . .no red shoes for us this time around. π There was no teaser for Episode #3, either, so I can't mentally prepare myself for the prospect of a bow and arrows being seen next week. πΉ π₯·π½π₯·π½π₯·π½
I think this series may have exorcised all of the demons. π§ββοΈβ οΈπ§ββοΈ
After seeing Episode #8 last week and the high level of acting and story plot and camera work involved, it was fun to appreciate Episode #9 and seeing them bump things up a notch further. π₯°
Last week was top quality stuff, so it was hard to un-see that while I was watching this one, too. This was really impressive tonight, as well. π I'm hoping the studio production teams in other countries are watching this series, too, so they can pick up pointers from it so we can see more like this in 2023. π
With these first two episodes, I liked just about everything. π This was really refreshing to see Ohm & Fluke in these roles after the more recent "series with the cello", so I'm looking forward to this whole story to come. π
We really needed to see Ohm in a role where he is outgoing and goofy, whether it's the kind of goofy from drinking too much, or the goofy from talking too loud in his sleep. π₯΄π΄
Either way, it was long overdue, and it was like taking a warm towel out of the dryer. π₯°π€π₯° Before this, to see Ohm in an emotional role, I had to go back to UWMA and Episode #9 (the car ride back to Pharm's condo).
Fluke has been great in everything, aside from the occasional scene or two with a red apple in it, and I'm really liking his character here. π
So, we get Ohm & Fluke on Fridays and Sunday, too. . . Sounds great. π€ This show will definitely fill the void from missing 'My Only 12%' every Friday and will get me past the PTSD of white horses, white plants, jigsaw puzzles and helicopters. π
