I am really liking the characters now that I've gotten to know them, but I'm a little bit anxious about Episode #3 based on the teaser we saw. ๐ฏ
Em's hair is a lot longer, so I'm guessing that a year or two will have gone by again (or is it already uni-time)? ๐ฌ Or. . .is Em heading for a different school while the rest stay together in high school?
Is Gun going to have enough time with Golf to move on from being 'Number 8', or is Golf still going to be in the dark about it all the way through high school? ๐ซ๐ฉ๐ฅ๏ธ
I got the strong impression that Golf is attracted to Gun from the rides on the streetcar, but is he still 100% oblivious that he's sitting next to 'Number 8'? The plot thickens . . .๐
We're only up to #3 coming up, so I'd guess we still are a couple of episodes away from the college vibe. ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Either way, I'm looking forward to whatever the storyline offers. . .๐
I had fun watching this episode, now that the characters are established, and the story is getting deeper. ๐
I definitely was not expecting Pluem to be turning up the flirting by a couple of notches this quickly, but then I remembered that we have got only 8 episodes here instead of 12 or 14.
The small details tonight were really cool, too, like the Cute Bunny shirt and Pluem having a poster from The Cure on his wall. ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฝโโ๏ธ
I liked the episode and the chemistry we have so far, and I'm coming back to it again next week for more. ๐
I also feel like I've learned a new language, with the subtitles adding extra flair to my viewing experience. ๐ฌ It's like watching one of the 'Star Trek' movies when we start getting subtitled dialogue from the Klingons. ๐ฆน๐ฝโโ๏ธ ๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธ ๐ฆน๐ฝโโ๏ธ
This show is a boring mediocre mess. I blame Ohmโs manager New for producing this crap with his friend who directed…
When you mentioned the director, I got serious Deja Vu vibes from another show. ๐งโโ๏ธ
'The Blues Brothers' came out in the US and it was a huge hit. ๐๐ The next year, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd got teamed up for 'Neighbors'. Insert one disaster after another for the next three months. . .๐
The director had never done a comedy before, and pre-production was a nightmare. The two actors felt they were mis-cast, so they actually switched roles before filming, so Belushi played the straight man and Aykroyd played the wild new neighbor. ๐จ๐ฝโ๐ฆฑ๐ฑ๐ฝ
The finished product didn't end up worth the effort, though. ๐ญ It was John Belushi's last film and it almost flopped, so that was sad in itself.
One lesson I will carry with me with this series (through #16, anyway) is that you can have Ohm & Fluke, great potential for side couples, great locations, expensive cars and houses, added 'bling' to everything else, and it's all for nothing if the whole thing is built on a weak foundation of screenplay and continuity disasters.
This series should also have come with a disclaimer at the beginning of each episode (like 'YYY' did) to say, "Hey. . .we had fun playing around with this, don't take it seriously, and have fun with us". ๐คน๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐คน๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐คน๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Something like that. ๐คช
Aside from the gripes about the collapsing storyline, I'm shocked that the money was pushed into this for all of the high-end expensive settings (and horses) without addressing how much work needed to be done on the screenplay (and I'm going to say continuity again).
Usually, five or six people in the studio need to sign off on this before it gets approval to move to production, right? ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Maybe. . .this is how it's done in the BL world now and we'll see it again elsewhere. ๐ฌ
Maybe. . .I'm expecting too much from this one because of my great experience watching UWMA.
20 episodes really! Is that official? Loved your comment! I just picked myself off the floor laughing after watching…
There are officially 20 episodes and there are officially 18 episodes. ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ Our studio friends are still sending out completely different vibes on either/or.
I think 18 would be plenty for me, though. ๐
Even after seeing #16, I feel like I'm finding out what '2 Moons' would have been like if the characters all had billions of baht and helicopters. . .๐ฐ๐
I am becoming more serious in hoping that they just drop the whole present storyline and fill in the remaining episodes with a bunch of musical numbers. ๐ค ๐ ๐ธ๐ธ ๐น๐ฅ
Loved your comment so much. Couldn't stop myself from laughing. Tears are still flowing as a result of another…
I feel bad for saying anything negative about anything that Ohm and Fluke are in together, but I'm getting perilously close to making the statement that 'I could write a story-line better than they do'. That would mean they failed Big Time. . . ๐.
BL Update on Twitter is saying there are 18 episodes and that the finale will first be shown in the theater on…
Thanks for finding that out. ๐
Up until now, we've had 22 different scenarios to wrap our heads around. ๐ . . .and every one of them contains red apples and bounty hunters. . . ๐ฅท๐ฝ๐ฅท๐ฝ๐ฅท๐ฝ
20 Episodes. . . ? ๐ Wow. ๐ The gift that keeps on giving. . . ๐ฅด
If only I wasn't getting this news after seeing the past four episodes. ๐ป๐๐ชด
As someone wise once compared it, "This is like buying the Yoko Ono CD because it has bonus tracks on it. . ." ๐ฟ ๐ผ๐ถ๐โโฌ๐ถ
I'm still making up my mind on either tuning in next week, or binge watching the damage control in another four weeks instead. I have too much patience, and I have too much faith in Ohm & Fluke. . .so I might be checking out #17, anyway. ๐
I have already found myself lacking the emotional attachment to this series that I had around Episode #6, and I have, for the most part, taken myself out of the arena to spare myself the latest extravaganza of no Rain, a high-risk brain injury patient on horseback, and a villa full of guests with cell phones. ๐ต๐ต๐ต๐ต๐ต
I'm also looking ahead at 'Between Us', '609 Bedtime Story', 'Shadow', and 'Make a Wish', hoping to see Ohm and Fluke with better material.
I'll be cautious with this one yet, but I'm still surmising that the only thing to save this series after #16 would be to bring David Bowie back from the other side, to manifest three unicorns, and to offer cameos from the entire cast of 'About Youth' (with a musical number). ๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ช ๐ช ๐ช
That still would not explain what to do with the 'CEO Ice Queen' lurking on her cell phone, or the trio of bounty hunters who, for the last three months, probably walked all the way to Cambodia, lost the scent of Kim, and have now returned to Chiang Mai. . . ๐ฅท๐ฝ๐ฅท๐ฝ๐ฅท๐ฝ
Whatever. . . ๐
If this Episode #17, #18, #19 and #20 thing is a studio PR stunt, I will whole-heartedly congratulate them for trolling me for a full month now and putting the carrot back in front of me. ๐
Even with that insult added to injury, I might be curious just to see what kind of scripts they've dreamed up for the next four weeks. ๐ค
My hands are shaking just thinking about the next four Mondays. . .๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ
For only two episodes, this show is already getting to be addicting. ๐ I already like the kids, the parents, and especially Grandfather. ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ด๐ฝ
The computer monitors are a real laugh, too. ๐ฅ๏ธ ๐คฃ Second-hand stores now refuse to accept these things because no one wants them. โข๏ธโ ๏ธ
I'm still getting a lot of location Deja Vu from 'My Only 12%', so I'm still expecting to see more of it in Episode #3, and I'm looking forward to it. ๐
I am now also looking forward a lot more to how these characters are going to look three episodes from now, mainly because most of us just got done with #10 over at 'My Only 12%' and everyone there has traded their high school looks for 'uni casual'. ๐๐๐
Maybe we'll see it here by Episode #6.
I was going to wait until Monday night to watch this, but I didn't want to wait. . .this series is getting to be too good to miss already. ๐ . . .even with the leftover haircuts and acne from the last show. . .๐
I can't believe we are already 6 episodes along in this story. ๐ฎ
I'm still enjoying it and getting to care about the individual characters more each week, but I haven't been able to stop laughing about the fight scenes. ๐ค๐ฝ ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ก๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ค๐ฝ
Depending on which studio is doing the series, you can always note that they always get hit in exactly the same spot on the mouth. . .in every series. . .๐
And the love interests usually bond closer in the next scene when one of them puts antiseptic on the wound. ๐ค
Halfway through now, I'm devoted to an extent to this show, so I'm to keep tuning in every week. ๐
I agree with all that you said outside of your last opinion. I think Cake will be the one to initiate the kiss.…
I'm curious to see how this plays out, too, especially with New calling the shots behind the camera. ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ
Technically, Eiw gave him the kiss on the cheek before Cake left as if to say, "Think about that over the next 3-4 years". ๐ But when you saw the look in Cake's eyes when he got it, he literally got de-railed by it and couldn't even get in the car without going back once more. ๐ญ
If they keep the theme going with how the tables have turned on Cake since Episode #3 or #4, you're going to be absolutely right about Cake going after the first kiss.
The non-verbal cues he's giving all the way back to #7 and #8 towards Eiw have been fun to notice. ๐ฅฐ๐๐๐คฉ
I'm going to keep my bets on Eiw with the first kiss, though, just because, when the jealousy and tension gets high, one of them will say. "Prove it!", and Eiw will make the first move. ๐
Cake, though, is getting a lot more territorial. ๐ก
Besides the great fun I had watching the big step forward we took with Episode #10, and seeing how Tah, Palm and Peak all looked a few years later, I got to thinking about new characters, too. ๐ค
Getting Earth & Santa to work together again is great, and so, too, it is to see Earth & Pineare together again, as well. . .this time, in the same scenes (now she is playing Noey in Eiw's classes).
In UWMA, Earth was Pineare's deceased great uncle and she was Dean's sister. This setup now is a lot easier to grasp. . .๐
The new character that is still coming up bothers me a little more than all the others that Cake has to contend with around Eiw. . .and that is Eiw's father (being played by Wo).
I'm worried at how this portrayal is going to go for the series, based on my personal opinion of what I saw earlier this year. ๐ฌ
When 'Restart(ed)' came out early this year, Wo had the role of Chin's Dad, and he almost burned down the comments section. ๐ก Because of his reaction to his son's relationship choices, his character is in the 'Top 3 of Evil, Sadistic Dads in a Series', where he not only beat the living daylights out of Chin, but his boyfriend as well. ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ต๐ค๐ฅ๐ฅ
While I'll do my best not to keep that last role in mind when Wo arrives on the scene here, I am the slightest bit concerned that he is coming to play the same sort of authoritarian Dad around Eiw, Hom and Pao. ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ I hope it's a much gentler role. ๐ค๐ฝ
I might need to ask Afterday how she wrote this character into the novel. . .
I'm enjoying paradise (and jealous Cake) too much and I don't want a psycho Dad to turn it upside down. ๐
Em's hair is a lot longer, so I'm guessing that a year or two will have gone by again (or is it already uni-time)? ๐ฌ

How was yours?
Did you see the scene where Cake meets up with his friends with drinks?
That has been the common one missing, so far.

The caption for it was along the lines of:
"The old saying is wrong.
Love isn't blind. . .it's deaf. . ." ๐๐๐
If we can get Ohm and Fluke to tie themselves to each other with a red thread, and wear it for 4 more episodes, we can save this story. ๐
Or we can tie the red thread to Phayu and Rain, follow the other half of the thread to see where it goes. . .and find out where they're hiding Rain.
