I personally don't think they're that common, but even if they are, there's still not as many of them as there was in this drama, since every female character could fight here or at least use her brain. So, I think it still deserves to be complimented on that aspect. ^^

Woa, this short drama really managed to show what many full-length dramas couldn't. The story, acting, cinematography, and soundtracks were pure perfection. I saw a comment about the visuals of this drama that said "这部剧感觉一直是黑天，好像没出现过白天呢" (This drama feels like it's always been dark, as if there's never been a day) and I think it describes the overall atmosphere really well. To those who might've randomly stumbled upon it, I'd suggest you all to give it a try! you won't regret it because even if you don't understand the story, you'll still end up discovering some cool songs lmao.

^ I just completed it so the comment above is something that happened in the last episode to Zhao Kai. It's a big spoiler, wouldn't recommend clicking on it if you haven't completed this drama yet.

Just completed this drama and now I feel bad for him. I admit that he wasn't the best person and his motives were selfish, but that's all he was ever taught by the eunuch. Xu Fengniang wanted to protect his family first and then gain power. While, Zhao Kai wanted to gain power first so he could have a family with Xu Fengniang's sister (because that's the only thing he was ever shown fondly daydreaming about), since he's a illegitimate son and probably doesn't have a good relationship with his father. I wish he had gotten an another chance to become a better person.

Zhao Kai's attempts at assassinating Xu Fengniang makes me laugh lmao. He fails at them even more than I fail my math tests.

I love how common it is for the female characters in this drama to know martial arts. No mocking, no belittling, no surprised-pikachu-face.jpng and no major character (emphasis on 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 because death-seeking villains are still the same) goes "Oh, a WOMAN can fight?" it's just treated normally and everyone's casual about it; Not to mention, some men even have them as bodyguards and don't act like it's a huge blow to their ego to be protected by them, which is quite rare to come across even in wuxia dramas.

I've always believed costume dramas (of any kind of fantasy genre like wuxia/xianxia/xuanhuan, etc) that aren't historically accurate in the slightest shouldn't make only damsel-in-distress female characters in the name of 'historical accuracy/realism'.
Like, if your man's going to shoot kamehameha on the villain’s goons, please at least write a female character who can slap a mf without breaking her wrist.

I just LOVE how he can say and do the silliest things ever with a completely straight face. I'm also genuinely surprised by the tiny amount of main roles he has gotten when he have so much screen presence - like if he's in a scene, there's no way you can focus on any other character aside from him. His voice acting is remarkable, too. He's such an all-around talented person, it's a shame that he's still underrated.

As someone who works in a major hospital and all that, how come your humour is nonexistent? Also, congrats on assuming I'm going to leave my parents to die alone because I said something about poops, really shows your maturity level. I forgot I was supposed to like poops if I genuinely love my family members. And bringing up 'life or death situations' here was weird, when did I compare them? Not going to lie, I didn't actually care about this drama's plot at first and was only interested in the cast, poster, and styling. But the trailer caught my interest, I liked how it started out as a good dream and ended up as a nightmare. Now this drama has my full attention lol.

I just love her voice, she can tell me to jump off a cliff and it'll still sound like asmr to my ears.

The story and cast's performance was so great that I wouldn't even mind if this short movie got turned into a full-length drama. I'd watch every single episode of it. Also, is it just me or Huang Miyi sounds a bit like Zhou Xun? Idk they just seem to have that similar kind of deep and husky voice.

Her acting is so versatile, subtle and natural that she ALWAYS manages to catch my attention in dramas even when she's not the main character. Hopefully, one day she'll get the popularity she deserves because I want to see her in main roles so badly! I also can't believe she has been acting since 2005.
