I can tell that this drama isn't going to disappoint me at all when it airs. There's no way it can fail when everything about it, from the writers to the cast, is nothing but absolute perfection.
The fl wasn't as unbearably annoying as everyone makes her out to be, because both of the main characters are equally dumb imo. Like seriously, is there anything the ml did that made sense? He just didn't get bullied or embarrassed himself as often as the fl did, that was all. But I think that's exactly why they both were so cute together though. XD
All the characters here are so likable! (well, except for that one girl from the fl's office of course) the fl is realistic, silly but not immature, funny but not too embarrassing, capable but not too perfect, and it's such a breath of fresh air. The fl's relationship with her friends and the sml was great, too. The ml was just a bit bland imo, but other than that, I liked everything else.
I must say, shameless and clever characters suit Zhang Ruoyun the best. I've read a few chapters of the original novel (but stopped because I want to enjoy all the plot twists in this drama) and I can't imagine anyone else playing the MC. Even if he forever got type-casted with these kind of roles, I don't think I'll ever complain; fortunately though, Fan Xian and Xu Fengnian aren't similar to the point of being considered a type cast, they only seem to share the same kind of humour.
My aunt had a cute daughter today and her pregnancy was announced on april when hyx was first rumoured to air. I know that I shouldn't, I reallyyyy shouldn't, but all I can think is: A WHOLE BABY DROPPED FASTER THAN THIS DRAMA?? I don't think "I'll be a grandma by the time hyx airs" is just a joke at this point. I might really get grandchildren before I'll get hyx (꒦ິ꒳꒦ີ)
unpopular opinion :- This was A very toxic drama (pls this is just an opinion!)
Historically accurate and realistic harem dramas aren't known to be lighthearted or to showcase healthy relationships though lol. Everyone here probably knows Yingluo and the Emperor's relationship wasn't ideal and that it's full of morally grey characters, in fact, the lack of sugarcoated history and white lotus characters are the exact reasons why most like this drama.
All in all, I've nothing against your personal opinion, I'm just saying that finding all the stuff in this drama toxic isn't a unpopular opinion so you don't have to hesitate if you want to say something about them. But it'd be great if you don't judge them through modern standards, as it's literally based on the time an empress got punished by the empress dowager for 'daring' to say a few more lines than her husband. Nothing can be done with patriarchy to make it 'sweet' or 'endearing' like a rom-com, it's going to stay toxic.
I think we all can collectively agree that the lil kid who wanted to be a stay-at-home dad in both worlds, regardless of everyone else's beliefs, was the cutest bean in existence.

(and it also have eng subs btw)
Edit: Omg episode 8 has to be my favourite one so far! It wasn't scary (just like most of the episodes lol), but I absolutely loved the storyline.
