I just HAVE to say this: Bless the styling department of this drama, the costumes are so well-done and attentively designed that it looks as if the characters leaped out from the novel. The cast also seems have no regard for us mere mortals and our weak hearts to be walking around looking this fucking gorgeous in them (especially, Bai Lu and Yunxi - they want us dead, I can feel it).

There's no other version, the sad ending you're talking about is also the one I mentioned in my original comment. I assume it's probably hard to tie up all loose ends and write two different kinds of endings without one of them feeling out-of-place or lacking in some way, so the author just continued the happy ending from the sad/ambiguous ending.

I actually completed this novel through raws/original language though, that's why I know the ending.

The author wrote two endings, a bad ending and a happy ending, for the readers to choose from. But the happy ending is considered to be the actual ending because it makes more sense and goes better with rest of the story, it's quite adorable too (won't spoil but it legit made me squeal) so I believe you don't need to worry about the ending, although the novel can be angsty at times.

The stitches thing caught me by surprise too... is it even possible for an accidental punch to cause these kind of injuries? Swollen face or few bruises? I'd get that, but stitches?? And the actor had to visit two hospitals for a check up??? It must've hurt like hell.

And in my opinion, it was extremely irresponsible and pointless of the director to make the other actor punch him for real instead of yk.. make them do their only job, which is acting. The director was behaving as if in the history of humanity, there's never been an actor capable of making an action scene look realistic solely with their acting skills. 'Realism' my foot, this director probably either don't think much highly of the actors or is too lazy to retake shots and resorted to this so there wouldn't be many mistakes. Apology doesn't mean anything since it's not like they're genuinely sorry or would learn something from it, they're sorry for being caught rather than for their 'mistake'. What's worse is that some 'fans' are defending such things simply because they want to watch the drama, as if the drama would disappear from earth if the actor playing in it got treated better. Smh.

At this point, it seems like neither his agency nor the drama makers care about his safety. It hasn't been long since his leg got better yet they were like "Alright time to shoot you getting slapped/punched on the face, it doesn't involve your leg so what can go wrong?" and when it indeed went wrong, his agency still had the nerve to say it's a 'minor' injury. Dude's legit being treated like a rag doll and he still has tons of dramas to shoot, just when will he take a proper rest? (or will he ever take a rest because it looks like he isn't even allowed to take a nap while working—) I swear, he gets injured more often than I get low grades on my tests and this time it was serious enough for him to get STITCHES and a swollen face, there's no way his half-assedly healed injuries aren't going to have any permanent affect on his health later. He doesn't only deserve, but actually needs a break.

As for my username change, it was actually a mistake lmao. I just got a sudden urge to see how this username would look on mdl (why? well, because I'm a certified dumbass) and now I can't change it for 30 days. Finally found a sane person in the reviews. The synopsis made it sound like a fucked up movie, which it was but not in a "damn that's so dark" way, it was more like "so they believe to make a suicidal person find his will to live, he should be abducted and raped until he gets a 'happily ever after' with his own kidnapper?" I can't believe people found it 'hot' and some psychological masterpiece when it was just bs, literal wattpad smut in live action. It is about as deep as a puddle after rain but everyone wants to act like an intellectual witnessing the greatest piece of writing of all time. It speaks for itself when majority of the fangirling crowd is just telling people to bring along their headphones and get ready for some 'hardcore bdsm' (never knew sexual abuse is suddenly just bdsm, something you'd expect two consenting adults to do in their bedroom) they themselves couldn't talk about anything else aside from this 'hardcore bsdm' yet want to pretend like there's something more, something a lot profound hiding beneath all this forced sex and abuse. Your review was on-point, I couldn't agree more with everything you said.
