Have already rewatched this like 3 times. Sososososososo good, y'all. I got a friend into k-dramas last year & this was my first c-drama introduction for her. She LOVED it.
currently airing shows are good 🤠i watched a lot this year... but mostly romcom
Yup. Romcom (with fantasy elements) is my #1 watch, too. I am liking all 3 couples in this, which is unusual for me. And I definitely have been watching more airing shows, so yeah...I guess they can be good!
I feel c-dramas in recent years have been better about not having the script go sideways midway like Cinderella Chef & so many others.
Fun fantasy romance with lots of lighter fantastical elements! Teenagey but not TOO teenagey, if you know what I mean... I am liking more of the gender equality conversations we are getting in c-dramas over the last few years. :)
Didn't finish Love Unexpected, but wasn't a fan of Judy in that one (I am in the minority, maybe) but did like Ao Rui in Poisoned Love (had to check my notes on that one; too many c-dramas, lol) but they are a cute couple in this & the fantasy element is really fun! Love the multiple couples. Why-oh-why did I start another currently airing show, tho...
The leads were not dubbed. All four of the main leads actually used their own voices in this drama. :) Which I…
so glad to know! I also prefer it when the actresses & actors use their own voices. Certain dramas have been a wash for me after hearing the real thing since I couldn't get over the mismatch. I feel like this is happening more & more, which is pretty cool.
this is a binge-fest drama, omg I am loving it so much. Dubbed voices of the leads are off-putting at first but then you get used to it since the story is bangin'. Gorgeous music, sets & CGI as well. Fantasy & romance lovers, rejoice! :D
Like the ML; plot seems interesting so far; not a ton of chemistry between the leads, though we've had a lot of situational set-ups. Like the matriarchal aspect! Subs on Yoyo English Channel aren't terrible. Editing is choppy, though. I'll stick with it a little longer & see...
awww maaaan...this is sooooooo disappointing to see. This guy is such an incredible actor! Not about to comment on my own projections, lol. It is what it is, folks. I hope he's still able to keep acting & he doesn't disappear...
well done, well produced, well-acted drama. FL is not an idiot, but I wish she would've been more cunning. I guess our bar for "intelligent" in a c-drama has become "not dumb."
Good god, the endless scheming, plotting & framing, though! It was mind-numbing & a complete brain drain, so I may have to start skipping. I think the OTP are sweet together but don't have enough chemistry for me. (Odd cuz I know they're together irl, so I think it's their characters: he was also too much of a mama's boy for me.) On Ep 28 & my favorite character is Tuba Yu. That soft voice, watchful eyes & barely contained menace is the highlight of watching this for me. Top-level predator in the house & why-oh-why is it soooo sexy?
very romantic start ... like the ultimate destined-to-be fantasy with a sleeping beauty faerie feel. Very immersive as well. Fingers crossed for the best but great out of the gate!
Uhhhmmmm, so you seriously have to forget logic when watching this show when it comes to her "condition." And I'm really starting to get annoyed at the avalanche of stupid stuff the writers are making the FL do plus her acceptance of others' mistreatment. It's annoying bc she would be a great character otherwise. Cute couple. The ML really warms up & it's believable! Nicely done. I'm also watching for the voice acting part/dubbing concept. Cool idea. Also: love the goose on a pink leash.
super cheeseballs but cute couple chemistry. Lots of little unexpected kisses & skinship. I am liking the short web dramas more & more rn & this 6 -7 min length is just perfect.
I'm on Episode 3 & I like sexy dramas as much as the next person, but this is moving waaayyyyyy too fast for me, yikes. Plus the guy is too clingy for me & the girl is too sweet, young & naive. Just too-too-toooooo all round, but since this is based on a shoujo manga, this set-up makes a lot more sense! A Viki commenter said they watched it 10X. Like, what? Cringy, cringy, cringy. I dropped it once already & I'm going to have to do it again! At least I made it further this time before I gave up. **edit** So, after I wrote this I looked back at my notes for why I dropped it the first time & this is what I wrote: "Nope. Not even sexy a little bit for me. Disturbing and uncomfortable instead. mark missed by a mile." LOL good to know at least I am consistent.
This is not as bad as everyone says it is but there are major flaws with this show: a.) the ML is the jerkiest, meanest piece of you-know-what to the FL that I have ever seen. The hate is real & it is uncomfortable. 2.) the FL is the nicest, kindest, caring almost doormat of a person in response so the 1st 5/16 episodes you're yelling at her to fight back or get a backbone 3.) even though it's a medical show, so so soooooo many things are unethical & just wrong, wrong, wrong. Turn off the thinking side of your brain there. 4.) the SFL (sister) is garbage & never redeems herself. She's also annoying af 5.) Karma does not come back to our ML or the sister. After watching him abuse the FL for so long, I really wanted to see him get run through the wringer. Nope. Unfortunately, it made the romance less satisfying. 6.) at times the writing is just BAD: case in point, all the misunderstandings take us up to the last 10 minutes of the show & then the time skip magically solves everything. Can I gag?
So why did I finish this after all of the above issues (besides the leads)? The style felt nostalgic to me, there were some very funny parts, the romance was cute once the FL started to push back a little, the cohabitation scenes were fun, his parents were AWESOME, & the pacing was well done. I would not watch it again nor recommend it to anyone but I didn't drop it like so many other "good" dramas, so go figure.
I envy you... you can watch a drama with someone and discuss it, too! I only have fellow MDLers on drama page…
I loved TBSITS but was frustrated they put so much make-up on Z.Tao! It kept distracting me. I got stuck in the middle on Oath of Love, even though I loved the beginning & Xiao Zhan, but that happens to me with a lot of dramas...not sure why cuz it was a cute show so far. Yang Mi is hit or miss for me so I haven't started IS but loved her in Ashes of Love, so we'll see. Who Rules the World was so much fun! ZLS's character was awesome & it was fun watching them become a power couple.
So I've heard really good things about Lighter & Princess and just started watching it. Production quality is top notch, actors have good chemistry & it starts out on the darker side. Interesting so far, so I would recommend that one too! It has the FL from the period piece Fall in Love (another good one!)
