this couple was cute & had pretty good chemistry but I am not liking the direction of the plot at ep 19. Based on other comments, this is the time to stop & just drop it. Too bad because this started out so fun...
I was wondering where Viki got the "romantic comedy" tag on this one aside from the con artist adoptive father figure & somewhat lighter story telling but omg...
I am just finishing up Jang Ok-jung, Living in Love, & I wanted to watch several interpretations of this period in Joseon history, so I started Dong Yi. (I guess Sukjong's reign is a pretty popular focus in dramas because of all the political faction maneuvering, executions, exiles, royal consort promotions, palace scheming, queen deposing & such.) Also, LOVE seeing Kim Yoo Jung as a little girl; she looks almost exactly the same, lol. This may be a several episode-a-week watch rather than a binge-fest, though.
I've picked up this one (the content matter is not really my style) but I'm loving the acting. Yes, there's romance but while it's kinda sweet but mostly tepid in the beginning, their relationship becomes part of the political drama at the time & the story is now all of those retainers-who-wanna-hold-their-power-against-royalty-so-royalty-pushes-back where manipulative machinations abound! It's done well & the king slays it.
It has this very natural feel to its production which could be attributed to both the 2013 technology & the costumes, sets, lighting, etc. At this point 20 episodes in, I am kinda just watching fascinated to see who does what next!
The style, pace & characters of this show is just adorable. The stories happen with more of a family & friend life built around the FL, though I am assuming that will change as the ML gets closer to his brothers & family. It definitely seems like an ensemble cast show with romance being important but not AS important as family & friend connection-building. I hope nothing too angsty happens! I'm glad I waited a little while after the unwelcome 3rd party addition plot point occurred, though. It's weird but not so bad...I guess...
:D I checked out your list & it reminded me of a lot of great dramas you've watched that have been on my back burner for a while. You've seen most of what I would recommend expect maybe you could try...
My P.S. Partner (adult-themed movie w/Ji Sung) Mood of the Day (another movie) Feel Good to Die One Fine Week (fluffy but fun) I Hear Your Voice Me too, Flower! W XX The Secret Life of My Secretary
If you wanna check out some more Chinese or Taiwanese dramas since I noticed you haven't watched as much of those:
Meet Me @ 1006 (Taiwanese) Some Day or One Day (also Taiwanese)...both of these Tdramas have sci-fi time travel elements The Day of Becoming You (modern Chinese...body swapping) The Story of Ming Lan (LONG & historical but my favorite cdrama ever) aaannnnnddd it's not a romcom but I noticed you don't have The Untamed on your list & I highly highly HIGHLY recommend it. It is amazing. Hope this helped!
Like as in this year or in general? To give you an idea of my tastes, my absolute tip-top romcom favorite of the bickering couple variety is Marriage, Not Dating (hence the thumbnail)
so far, this is my most enjoyable romcom of the year & I am first & foremost a romcom watcher. :) Both leads are playing their parts perfectly (love me a loud, outspoken, who-gives-a-flying-f*ck FL) & have pretty good chemistry of the bickering, we've-known-each-other-for-years variety. <3 Can't wait for more episodes!
Soooo, just a heads up: if you expect LSG to always play the same kind of mystery/action-oriented roles, it's not fair to say this part isn't right for him. He's an actor & should be able to explore multiple genres to challenge himself. It's not like he hasn't done romcoms before, either... Remember him as the utter adorable cutie from My Girlfriend is a Gumhio? Reading through the comments below started giving me an eye-twitch & reflected shades of a toxic twitter-verse controversy. There is so much negativity in the comments, it's distressing. I think that if you like the first couple of episodes, you'll like the rest of the drama so far. It's very light-hearted & fun!
wow, this show has 45 episodes with what it is? I'm on ep18 & waffling on whether or not I'll continue watching it. It has some very funny moments & I love that the show is willing to push the envelope a bit. (Those cross dressing scenes are great!)
I wonder if this was the beginning of the irreverent, spunky, reckless female lead in a c-drama, though. Tiffany Tang manages to pull off this role w/o being too silly or annoying in the slightest--even if you get mad at her for continuing to lie so much.
this was a very thorough article! Loved the pacing of this drama & it's visual beauty as well as the focus on the relationship between the main couple. Body swapping segments were super fun!
the whole show in one vid subbed on youtubehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoq2vQNi2VU&ab_channel=%E4%BC%98%E4%BC%98%E9%9D%92%E6%98%A5%E5%89%A7%E5%9C%BA%E2%80%94%E2%80%94YoYoFunStation
Thanks for the link! This was a fun little snack watch.
This is only 7.9??? This makes me nervous as I'm only halfway done & think it rates a higher score. This was the kind of drama I didn't know I've been missing for the last year or so. Jung Il Woo always does the arrogant & cocky, eccentric, petty & argumentative chaebol role so well. He also does the hate-to-love bickering premise w/the leads so well, too. This pair has GREAT chemistry & this story (at episode 6) looks like it will entail some madcap adventures along the way to resolving its main mystery with the main couple falling in love with each other seemingly against their will. I'm excited! :D
Between leads the romance starts in the last three episodes but there are side character couple they are cute.
more specifically, they BICKERED through most of their falling in love & had great chemistry in that they enjoyed annoying the other one & pushing their buttons. I have no idea where the hate-to-love tag is, lol.
Just finished this one in about 2 days. Excellent performances by all, though I would've loved just a liiiiiittle more romance between the leads. The chemistry was there, too, so it was slightly frustrating because the OTP was pretty bad ass & couples goals. Was initially not excited about a post-apocalyptic look at viruses where a group of people in an apartment complex are trapped together for a couple of weeks, but the pacing of the show is well-done & I was never bored or tempted to put it on hold. The development of all of the characters in the series was well done. Definitely an ensemble win here!
omg one of the reviewers above called this a "bodice ripper" & it definitely is! With an over-the-top revenge dark fantasy romance element to it. Feels kinda smutty, too, lol. I'm happy to say that this little drama is delightfully unhinged. Sooo...I'm only on episode #6 & they've each already pointed a gun at the other & then dared that one to shoot them. She's tried to kill him. He's handcuffed her to a bed. I mean, the man's already picked her up & thrown her over his shoulder & stalked off with her. I'm just waiting for the forced kiss.
Wow, ML is attractive & in very very good shape--which the drama doesn't mind showing to you. Some nice eye candy here! Obviously they know this audience pretty well, lol.
Thanks! Here's the link for Viki's Request Form for any fans who want to send a request.https://support.viki.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034633713-Request-a-TV-Show-or-MovieViki's…
Will you plz explain what type of fire he get in the end when xlh kiss him
They called it "glazed fire," which was supposedly the fire of compassion lost since ancient times: "The person needs to be tempered by emotions & sufferings & still retain the original heart. Only those who have great compassion & love can harness it." Translation from Viki, not me. ;p
