I see this kind of comment so often lately and it just tells me that you all have skipped out on Sh**ting Stars.…
I'm not sure why but I put SS on hold after Ep 13. It's been lingering on my "currently watching" list for months bc I keep meaning to go back & finish it! Maybe the plot direction or I got bored after they got together...? Not sure. I do think he was great as a character in it but I wasn't feeling his romantic connection w/ the FL. Friendship connection, yes. Romance, no. In mho, of course.
I envy you... you can watch a drama with someone and discuss it, too! I only have fellow MDLers on drama page…
omg I LOVED A Dream of Splendor & helped request it be brought to Viki. ADOS was a gorgeous show, the OTP had some major chemistry & the storyline was so different & unexpected that it set me up with such astronomically high expectations that I felt slightly deflated in the end when some of those expectations were not met. Completely my fault & still a highly recommended watch, of course!
I think the tricky thing w/c-dramas is that China pumps out soooooo many each year (200 or 300+ I believe) & there're so many different styles, production qualities & music that you can have indecision crisis, lol. It's also really easy to waste your time on a c-drama that abruptly snakes sideways & you end up debating whether you'll finish it, skip through or drop it all together. I love ZLS & have enjoyed watching most of her dramas ( I admit dropping a couple) & I really hope they don't mess up S2 of TROTAR. Yang Yang is just okay to me; pretty but not compelling though I enjoyed him in Love O2O when I watched it years ago.
As for other 2022 c-dramas not on the list above, I liked Legally Romance & The Legendary Life of Queen Lau. Please Don't Spoil Me was a super cute isekai-style web drama, too.

I also have a couple ladies at work who watch them but everyone else there gives us the fisheye about it. Subs are still a tough sell for some people, I guess. As for my friend, I've been mentioning dramas for the 6 years I've been watching them, but her interest was only piqued after Squid Game came out. (yipppppeeeeee)
Yes & no to our favorites. No bc I watch more c-dramas on my own & for her, we're sticking with k-dramas for now since they are an easier introduction for western audiences. That, and we both have a limited amount of time together & unfortunately most c-dramas are lengthier. Well....I say that & I have still mentioned The Story of Ming Lan as an amazing drama to her but said, wait to see if you go down this rabbit hole with me before you decide, lol. (I think when I said 67 episodes it kinda freaked her out.) Yes bc we are both primarily romance genre watchers but love extra elements thrown into the mix: family, comedy, mystery, fantasy, melodrama, suspense/thriller, etc. Anything romance-centric & we are good-to-go. :). Right now, we're watching The Forbidden Marriage together & having a BLAST.
I understand how you would comment on currently airing dramas more since it's interactive & you have no one to watch them with! At least we've got a place to share here. I think Viki has a cool community as well & usually it's entertaining to read the comments along the way. Some times there are haters, but some people are just negative-perspective oriented.
KYD's acting is too funny. He's improved so much since Extraordinary You! So, I told myself I wasn't going to start this one while it was airing but I just couldn't wait...
The break for New Years about killed me. Reminder to self for next year: wait to start watching on-air dramas until after New Years, haha.
First of all, thanks for doing this! Love the look back at the year in dramas. :D
1.) How many 2022 released dramas did you watch? 52 2.) What country did you watch the most in 2022? China 3.) What genre(s) do you usually watch? Romance (with fantastical elements mostly) 4.) What is your top drama listed in this article? (Can be more than one) Love Like the Galaxy, Alchemy of Souls S1, & Love between Fairy and Devil 5.) What is your top drama NOT listed in this article? A Familiar Stranger... soooooooo good! Great twists, very dark & passionate for a short cdrama. Highly recommended! A Business Proposal (I got a friend hooked on k-dramas w/this one.) 6.) How was your drama journey in 2022? I also started watching more dramas currently airing & since my friend really enjoyed the dramas I introduced her to, she's been watching them with me as well. Now I don't have to watch them alone, yay! 7.) What is your wish or plan in dramaland in 2023? I only have 2 streaming platforms I subscribe to, so I'm planning on swapping one of them out this year so I can work on watching dramas released on a different platform. (I'll do dramanice/dramacool in a pinch but would really prefer not to.)
Teenage paranormal/supernatural romance? I give lots of grace to this type of story as well as the mini-drama format. Leads have surprisingly cute chemistry. All episodes subbed in English together:
All I gotta say is...this show is a bit on the nuts side but fun. I am REALLY enjoying the epilogues w/both of the lead's real voices & happy that both of the actors' careers blew up after this. :D
On episode 2 & LOVE the production quality, storyline & return to the scene of one of my favorite medical dramas. :D Dr. Kim is just as awesome as ever & I am liking this ML just as much as season 1's ML. (Also, AHS gets to act a little more & show he's more than a pretty face, yay!) FL is super famous & I have seen her in lots of other roles but honestly, I'm not liking her for this just yet. I am having withdrawal symptoms from our crazy whale FL from S1 & may just have to pop back & watch some of her scenes there to get my fix, lol.
saw first 4 episodes using auto translate to English on Youtube (got the gist so it was okay) but 5-8 was not able to work the same. I guess I am waiting...?
Also the way Heon didn't hesitate a second to take off his royal robe and cover Sorang with it, I AM WEAK. So…
So I was watching this episode for the 1st time w/a friend whom I have recently roped into watching k-dramas (welcome to the club, right?) & I said, "I have never seen any ML do that before in a saeguk. Ever." Super hot move by the "castrated" king--it seems as though he's mostly missing his ahem, power, & is starting to take some of it back this episode instead of lounging in bed so much. (fr he is lounging in bed a LOT in this story. Sexy butttt does he actually DO anything as king, lol?) He looked pretty foine w/his bow&arrow poised, resplendent in red, w/focus & determination on his face at the end of this episode, too. Noice!
It's weird and I feel bad for the SML. The king and FL are kind of weird.
lol. yes, totally weird but it's hilarious & the pacing is on point, so I am enjoying it so far. I feel like they are both modern quirky characters who don't realize they've been tossed into a saeguk.
okay so I found his episode on Running Man (Viki has it!) & he is such a cute pie--very young, very nervous, adorably awkward & just mortified that he has trouble keeping up w/the games as well as the total extra-ness of the regular members. It made me want to give him a hug, lol. Anyway, I think Ep 424 is October 2019 since they mentioned BLACKPINK's "Ddu-du dud-du" came out "last summer"--it came out June 2018--& they're all wearing Halloween costumes, sooo...October, haha. I'll have to go back & watch Thirty but Seventeen to check him out now that I know it was him.. ;p
oh holy moly...how have I NOT heard about this drama yet?! Is it because there are no super big names in this? Is it because they deal with COVID like it's a real thing--because it is...? There are things I've never seen before in a cdrama; 2 episodes in & it's already changed my "no" expectations to some pretty high expectations.
I am so happy to see him shine in more roles. Extraordinary You was so amazing & he played the limp Oh Nam Joo role to a T. Shooting Stars was decent but wow, he is killing it in The Forbidden Marriage...first role I felt mesmerized by his visuals. I am thoroughly enjoying watching him ooze charisma & play with comedy! Great job. <3
this show is frickin' FUNNY. The physical comedy literally made me snort in laughter. Good thing I didn't have anything in my mouth at the time, haha. ;p
I would also add that you'll "get" this show more if you're a regular drama watcher. Lots of inside jokes & pokes at k-dramaland throughout...so much so that at times I wondered if I were watching some sort of parody.

Dude, she's naked & in bed with him in the first 5 min. Craziness.
