calculating in a good way, and loyal to her friends and family, and always mindful of those who have suffered at the hands of the rich clans, this is a good role for her. She fights the establishment and earns the trust of everyone she encounters. To the haters who comment about her facial expressions - it’s her face. Whose expressions should she be using? Regardless of the critics, she has never disappointed me in any of the dramas I have seen her in.

The only small critique I have is that I would have liked to have heard more traditional music in the drama. It might have helped to set the mood a little more.

Overall, this was a great drama. Even though creative license was taken in the characters, the plot has many twists that keeps me coming back even though my angst was pretty high in some episodes. By the time I reach the end, I may need a cocktail to calm my nerves.

As a side note, as an adult in my 60’s, I can say that when a drama evokes me to dig into the history of a dynasty represented to understand the depths of the plot, then I consider it well worth the time spent watching and definitely holds a great deal of rewatch value.

How suddenly the Angst rise from 0 to 1000 😒
I am on episode 23 where she visits the Yang mansion. The angst level made me pause the episode and do something else for a while it was so strong 🤓

I am laughing at your comment about eating your hat :D It seems to be a trend recently where everyone but the ML and FL all have the mental capacity of a goldfish. I will leave my review after I watch as many episodes as I can without eating my hat too!

Also - note to film makers. When people fall off cliffs, their clothing, hair and skin go through changes. They are falling down a cliff and speed accelerates weight/resistence, NOT like standing in front of a window and having a gentle breeze caress their face. No one screams on the way down, their hair remains in its place (except for a few strands blowing softly), their clothes do not cling to their forms and actually look like they’re falling. Work on this :)

(cont’d) The battle scenes were beautifully choreographed, and it was a pleasure to see the ML put his musical stage presence together with his acting skills to make his character shine. Kudos to the costume designer as the scenes where their robes are fluttering with their spins and leaps were beautiful to behold.

I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t show anything about how the Angry Prince was dealt with also.

The ending leaves you with the impression that there will be a sequel. Hopefully they will resolve the Prince issue.

Tgey also left out the status of the treasure map. Perhaps a sequel will explain.

The scenery was stunning in a lot of the episodes. For instance the lotus farm. Just beautiful.

Overall I liked the drama, and might watch it again to see if there were things I missed the first time through.

After watching two episodes this might be worth watching, but I have my finger on the fast forward button to skip…
I have watched that drama so many time. Everything about it was lovely. And what you said is true. It needs to be a solid them, have a good director who is interested in quality instead of making sure to use every trope ever invented, a good screenwriter, excellent cast and an OST worth listening to after wards.

I understand the drama behind it, but wouldn’t it be nice if a couple and their friends could all just get to know each other and get together without the tropes? Love Me Love My Voice is a prime example of that.

He is definitely a creeper. Couldn’t stand him myself! Spying on her through the window of her work place. Staring at her after he fakes his purpose to get into her workplace and bribing the boss and her “best” friend. Getting an apartment for her when she barely knows him. And his bizarre behavior.

So, I liked the premise of the drama, an artist who realized his mistake in drawing a good cop and getting him…
Agreed. It’s also easy to “judge” a situation through empathy rather than to be impartial despite their personal feelings. The phrase “That’s up to the judges to decide” was used multiple times.

So, I liked the premise of the drama, an artist who realized his mistake in drawing a good cop and getting him…
Agreed. The drama is focused on the collaboration of a very talented artist and the police department to identify the criminal, locate them and build the case for the judicial system to handle. It isn’t about the morality or empathizing about the people or situation in any of them. This show stretches your mind and makes one appreciate Tian JuanCi even more as an actor. He’s brilliant.

Agreed. The drama is about using his art to help the police identify and capture the criminals, it’s not about the judicial process or even about the morality or justification of anyone’s actions. There were repeated responses by the police stating that judgement was up to the courts.

Great review, and I agree 100%. Every character was well played, the script is a brilliant piece of writing, and it holds the viewers attention every second. I, too, liked that the romance was there but not thrown in your face every 5 seconds, but the story focused on the culmination of the story itself. My first time through, I held my breath on more than one occasion because the twisted and turned but held you captive to the screen.

I can't get past episode 2. The script is boring. I am already tempted to speed it up or skip. FL character is…
Agreed. This is like watching a 13 year old trying to tell the story of college students. Total cringe.

If it wasn’t for the ML and the SML this drama would have been a total flop. There were no emotions visible…
OPINION = a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter.

Thoughts and impressions are personal deductions, not emotional fangirl responses. If you do not like other people’s opinions the keep scrolling - your “attack” of etc.’s and chastisement for people who do not agree with your opinion is only showing that you do not abide by your own standards. Debra70 and myself stated our opinions, and do not “hate” the actress. Hate being an extreme word which would require personal knowledge and contact with someone, which I do not, and probably you do not have either. I did not enjoy her acting. My opinion and that of others are ours alone. Scroll on when you don’t agree and life will be much more pleasant for you as you will not have to worry about controlling the thoughts, minds and opinions of everyone who disagrees with your fangirldom. Enjoy your day!

Any side couples?
there were 3 side couples. 2ML/2FL, the FL’s nephew and the ML’s childhood friend, and the support role male/female from the rescue team.

This isn't really a comment on the show itself, but are dramass like this that highlight china's public safety…
Not saying it’s fact, but the government and culture are very closely knit in China. Doctrine of the people being more important than the individual. And who knows what the studios or production companies are asking of the screenwriters. Just look at it as a cultural difference.

This drama...was so bad. I could not STAND; I MEAN STAND the FL. Talk about arrogant, self-centered, and "everything…
If it wasn’t for the ML and the SML this drama would have been a total flop. There were no emotions visible with the FL and her acting was like watching a piece of lumber trying to be human.

The scriptwriter had moments, and maybe there was a lot of scenes cut out to fit their time allotted. There was a lot of fill in between segments with road travel, and the addition of 3 couples aside from the leads and second leads left a lot to be desired.

And why did 2FL suddenly turn into a suspicious harpy who suddenly learned how to dress? This whole drama was a mess. Unfortunate, because I like the ML as an actor.

Why so many people said the ending is not good, I think it's very nice to have this way, the love, the regret,…
Agreed. I loved this drama. It was not a typical drama. The ML went from insensitive jerk to someone truly afraid of dying and dying alone. As for other reviews saying there were undeveloped plots introduced, it seemed more to me that the characters were going through life where things don’t follow a script, but they learn and grow from the experiences. The ending ripped my heart in two. Loving someone and losing their presence in your life in unexplained ways is an awful experience, and grief is a terrible thing to endure. I think the ML and the FL deserve more credit than they are getting and the other characters are background noise just like in RL. Some people are important in your life, others are not. Take the time to care for those who are important because you never know when your last moment with them may be.
