To be human vs an immortal

Simple story about immortal beings and the main male lead wanting to be human.

The execution is well enough for a C-drama that I'm not fussed with the story. It did kind of rush the ending a bit and well no spoilers but it kind of felt like cheating at the end but you'll see what I mean when you watch it. There is flashbacks near the end and I mean too much flashbacks so I had to skip those. There's also a lot of irrelevant closure like some characters they're so useless that's it better to not even bother talking about them later.

The antagonist, easy to tell so there was no shocking revelations.

In my opinion "The Boys" makes a better series because it goes into a gritty world and straight through the jugular. I kind of imagine if the script writer was inspired by "The Boys" this series could have been a 10/10 for me because I can only imagine how much more gritty I would make this series and explore the core concept of this series in that nature.

Overall though the story is decent enough that it doesn't sway away from the theme but a bit too light for me to fully say it's a great story. It's a predictable Chinese script.

Fighting like I'm more into Jackie Chan style which means good fight scenes. This is about immortal beings so expect sky fairy style of fighting so lots of CGI is involved sometimes it clearly is bad CGI. There's not much choreography like it's weak but the focus of this series was never about the fighting and I'm a big time action fella so I love series and movies with lots of fight scenes and how much effort the actors put in which is very tiring like Ever Night season 1 has really good fight scenes while having like powers involved.

So I give the fighting a 3/10 and this is because when you see the most powerful immortals fight it doesn't feel GRAND. I'll say anime is possibly the best to see how grand you can make fights like even Hero Academia the fight was just like making me tear up because of how well they did it even against all odds just that struggle and the grand nature of fighting a more insanely powerful individual.

In this and most c-drama it's just weak like you can't be serious and say the end fights were any good. I would even say one fight they cheap out so hard they made the same things between both of the greats that I was like wow this was so underwhelming so that's it?

Once again fighting is not the focus of this series so I gave it a big pass but if it was about like Hero Academia style of story this would have ended up a 4/10 series for me.

The acting and cast like both main leads loved them and it's not really a lovey dovey series so I like the vibe of the tease I guess. The ending is also nice too and I really enjoyed a potential setup for further season 2 if they dive in.

One thing I will say there wasn't much supporting characters I really felt attached to so I think the script didn't do much of them justice and fact is when you fail at that the whole "here's their backstory" it kind of all falls apart. There's some shows that introduce supporting characters that I feel sad when they kill them off or I'm interested in their backstory and I just didn't get that vibe here so most of the time I wanted to just see the progression of the main leads rather than all these other support cast.

I did really enjoy the story about human kind preserving knowledge like that ain't no spoiler but it reminds me of historically like countries like South Korea vs Japan and what the Japanese did back then.

Good watch, had a good time. Would have been excellent if it was similar vibes to The Boys and just more gritty and heart wrenching. Ended on a good theme and if there's a season 2 I would love to see more from the main leads.

Weak story

Not fond of this season.

Where do I start without spoilers...

Well to watch this season go watch season 1 at least so you understand the motives behind the vigilante group. What season 3 has become is just the opposite.

The problems this season faces is

- Lacking character development
- Case by case stories without a overarching or main plot that drives the entire season
- Principles are contradicted from season 1
- No prosecutor or police to challenge them which season 1 and 2 had
- Rushed cases and too far fetched at times
- The main lead actor starts making weird faces which I don't think he did in season 1 and 2

Watch if you have nothing better to do.

I really liked season 1 and unlike most people I felt Kang Ha-na made the entire season 1 pleasurable and would have loved to see her return in season 3 as a taxi driver member and be challenged by her mentor or another prosecutor.

It would have made a great season 3 seeing Kang Ha-na as a female lead and ultimately I would have ended that with her leaving the team and establishing a franchise and a spin-off into her own Taxi Driver: Prosecutor Kang like imagine prosecutor by day and she drives people around at night then gets cases...

Now that would hit.

Mid story with bad acting

The story is extremely mid like it started off okay with the premise this is a doctor and he solves cases but at some point if you watch it you'll realise the story completely becomes trash because it needs you to believe certain imaginary things are plausible and it's like why even do that? It's so cheap.

I also had to suspend my disbelief in other circumstances so it was already like at that point where anymore crap I'll flip a table and then they did something I could not believe which made the whole series cheap cheap cheap.

All the actors are terrible.

There wasn't a hardcore amount of mystery either like you don't feel like you ever solving or figuring things out. It's just generic and lazy.

The main character wants to present himself as this genius who can solve any problem but he just comes across as the most boring person ever. The way he talks annoyed the hell out of me like near the end of the show I wished he talked less.

There was a cute general girl that's about it.

If you're also looking for a lovey-dovey type of series this is absolutely not it like I feel they cut out the jealousy scenes out. They did have some love here and there but it all felt so forced.

The fighting was horrible like supposedly one of the best fighters and they fight like a child. It's really bad because if you're not going to spend money or effort into choreographing proper fights you should avoid that all together, it just looks cheap.

Binged and Entertained

When I watched this I didn't know what this was.

My metric on how good a show is basically comes down to whether I binge it or not and this I binged. It ticks a lot of categories for me as a guy

1. Cute female actors
2. Not a focus on love and smooches
3. Action, Action and ACTION
4. Supernatural
5. Good ending

Now when I started watching this I thought the concept of an app called Girigo was stupid because well it's an app. I would have preferred maybe a Jumanji concept where they find some artifact but also the story isn't really about wishes to be frank like it starts off that way but it doesn't keep the wish notion throughout but the core is about the app so I guess it works out.

I found some parts with some plot holes but overall enjoyable series that wasn't keeping me on the edge of my seat but definitely was something I wanted to finish because I was entertained. I wish they actually killed way more people off in more gruesome ways and just went crazy.

The shaman stuff is what captivated me so my favourite is the adult actors because I would love a spinoff on just watching them do shaman stuff. I wanted way more of this too like Korean Shaman is awesome and I'm really into series like that which is why I loved Supernatural like I found it funny Korean Shaman's used salt which I think Chinese Toaist uses rice instead.

My only wish is a spinoff focused on the adult actors like whoever she is, she is BADASS and great looking.

In terms of character development I will say this and that is all the female characters were written so well like every female character I saw was captivating in their own ways. Even the annoying girls I knew their characters were written to be annoying which is why I was smiling at some points... won't spoil but yea take that b***hhhh.

The male characters just the adult one was written well like you can remove all the male actors and I won't miss a thing in this show.

Thus acting wise females dominated males and I can tell the direction or the way writers are these days that lean heavily towards female empowerment shows in their work because well they wrote the males so poorly.

Music, sound effects, ambience all well done like Korean cinematography is always on point with these.

I will end this and say if you can't step over some minor plot holes and one is a major logical flaw then skip it but if you into supernatural stuff this is a very fun watch. I'll also say not a bone in me was scared but then again I've never been scared of these things like I was binging this last night to 3AM all lights off and it was just good vibes.

She's physically strong but mentally weak

Do not watch this if you're into powers and you think this be one of those power comedies that is light heart take on being a powered individual.

Why? She barely uses it productively and each time it's just ugh frustrating.

Mentally she's a weak character and the show does it's best to show you she's growing mentally stronger but it's so contrived I just cannot. The romance is also not my cup of tea like all of a sudden guy shows up, buys his way in and she's just swayed by that like any girls out there would have seen that coming and it really is poor that they used something I've seen in 80's style of series of how they made the girl "comfortable" being around the same guy all the freaking time like give me a break.

I won't spoil it but you'll see how she goes from mmm does he like me oh no he doesn't because he's...

That's just weak.

There's other parts that drag on like so much filler characters that don't add to the plot nor main character developments. They have this useless ass girl and her brother which you'll see if you watch this and it's just why even have a story line for them.

It's such filler and there's so much useless characters you'll see.

I would have rather seen no villain but a reporter who has his own issues has a gut feeling there's more to this town than what it seems and the show is around her trying to hide her powers as being exposed to the world will be detrimental to her and her family.

One of my friends kept saying "you need to watch this if you into powers" and honestly I think it maybe cause I'm a guy. She probably likes this for the romance going on while I was in for a comedy-power show and all I got was mediocrity.

Love story with a happy ending and dash of action

The story wasn't that entertaining but if you want to casually watch something that isn't going to have a lot of twist and turns as most of it is predictable then this is a good casual show.

It was okay in the beginning then in the middle especially around 20-30 it drags on a bit and the last few episodes picked back up and resolve a few. It's probably one of the few shows I've watched where the ending actually was better than the entire show but I guess that's because I like the whole premise of role switch that happened but I won't spoil it.

If you're an action goer there's a dash of fighting not like every episode but Song Yi looks bad ass when she is fighting. For the lovey dove people you'll probably find it drags on too much in the middle like to the point where you just want to scream "MAKE BABIES ALREADY".

It has a lot of flash backs which I hate and I have to 2x that.

Acting was good, not a fan of the most powerful person in the show wearing such a lame costume but otherwise none of the cast I have complaints about their acting abilities.

Music sucked though like the only memorable music and this is the one that goes ohhh ohhh ohhh that's it. Every music in this was ass but the sounds effects were on point.

Predictable and mildly amusing

The top review said this was unpredictable and I entered my psychological thriller arc into K-Dramas so I gave this a go.

Most predictable outcome, most predictable concept and I was not impressed. The most unpredictable part was they actually went for a damsel in distress and I'm just like wow this was beyond lazy.

It was amusing because I felt like hey this is not bad but not great definitely not a 10/10.

It's like this is meant to be psychological but there's a high bar to achieve that due to the amount of content in the world. It's easy to do a slasher because well slasher viewers aren't into psychological aspects. I felt the mentor serial killer was just too weak like I wasn't even feeling like he sold that vibe well and in my opinion he tried too hard.

The environment and setting I give that a A+

Actors did their jobs like no one was terrible at acting. The cinematography and audio is always superb with K-Dramas.

One thing I didn't like was how much characters they put in that was meant to make you the viewer dislike them so you're on the side of the main lead.

To me I think that's weak and what really made it predictable for me is the notion of the win.
I as a viewer rather become afraid.

Tries to do too much and fails, although somewhat entertaining

This was interesting like as of writing this the rating is 8.8 and I'm not donkey enough to believe 8.8 on MDL means good because MDL often has ridiculous ratings for some of the worse things I've seen.

Now I won't spoil anything like most my reviews have no spoilers.

The synopsis was interesting but the story they had just did not work for me.

The issue is this series ...

- Has elements of comedy but not to the level of Shaun of the Dead or Zombieland
- Has elements of survival but not to the level of the move The Night Eats the World
- Has elements of investigation and discovery but not to the level of even The Last of Us or World War Z
- Has element of action but not the main focus like Train to Busan, All of Us Are Dead, World War Z etc...
- Feels like a light heart story so you don't get that gritty or dark vibe

What this means is it gets pulled into different directions and doesn't work.

Either you lean into a gritty-dark investigation type of series or you go comedy-survival for a light series. In the context of this series where it's about a fake marriage to get an apartment in a complex I feel the they should have leaned into the comedy side without investigating or military.

The story would have been better for me if it was like focused on a couple the male and female leads who aren't friends but mutuals because of other friends and they decided to fake a marriage. The comedy aspect is them hiding their fake marriage from nose-y residents in the complex.

Then you explore the residents and their mysteries/secrets while overtime they get outed. Then you have love develop between the leads because the whole fake to real love is something people like.

Thing is comedy doesn't rate well and has to be perfected but at the same time I got no clue who the heck is putting 8.8 on MDL for this series like that's just crazy to me.

John Wick meet K Wick

I put this on the back burner for a long time because I wasn't sold on the synopsis.

If only someone said "John Wick meet K Wick" then I'll know exactly what I'm in for because this is just action packed with great fight choreography and a gritty dead inside character who is just going on a revenge spree.

Story is basic and I can't give this full points only because John Wick does world building out of the one dimensional characters but this is not world building. The characters are all one dimensional which is fine because the focus is on revenge and slicing people up.

There's no cute girls which is great like if they threw in a idol girl that just changes the dynamic of the series. In fact there are no girls because this is a series for men of men.

Acting is one dimensional like I only disliked the out of character moment where no spoiling but he isn't just dead inside with compassion but he ended up doing a bit too much in one conversation which I felt was unnecessary.

I also felt like the actors that supported the lead whether fighting him or just entangled didn't show any genuine fear. The show would have been amplified if they made him a demon like hearing his name sends chills and the new generation would witness this throughout the development of the series and ends with them cowering in fear. That's kind of what is missing because it felt like all this destruction and yet you aren't afraid of a monster hunting you? ... at least I wasn't sold on the acting because their fear felt bland.

Otherwise I was in it for the violence, the gritty-nature and fast paced story telling of revenge.

What's more impressive is some shows tend to make what I consider should be easy fights into hard fights. In this show I was surprised at just seeing him kick ass but it would have been better if he simply didn't get hurt as much because it should be like One Punch Man or Mashle just overpowered which explains why he became a legend in the gangs.

The ending felt good too which I like.

I actually hope there's a season 2 just exploring how this guy became a legend and feared among the gangs but then they'd have to make him look way younger.

Starts off slow but picks up pace midway

It's a good watch but it definitely starts slow like I think I fell asleep multiple times before episode 4/5 then things started to get interesting.

There's not much character development at all like every character is pretty one dimensional and they tried hard with the reporter. The vigilante protagonist is like Keanue Reeves in John Wick just not much going on but apparently he can kick some ass. The other side characters they introduced were interesting and sets the vibe up for season 2 to be a bigger badder scenario but still they're just basic.

Story is condensed and it's short episodes.

Lots of things don't really make sense so you have to just ignore this and that. I won't spoil anything but there was a club scene I was like what the hell they just glossed over this and that... so weird.

I'm confused how people rated this higher than a 8 it's just not like an amazing series. I feel like the series Daredevil touches on vigilantism better like way better and that Daredevil is more multi-dimensional in the characters that exists.

I'm assuming the high ratings maybe the guy is cute or something but I don't really watch for cute guys and it's not like he takes off his shirt at any point.

Just bland.

It's a fine watch but honestly MDL got some weird ratings going on cause Daredevil is an 8.6 and I swear if you want vigilantism story that is really good. This is more like something I'd like if I was a teenager and my brain wasn't developed enough to analytically assess how the story and characters evolve.

Lighthearted feel good series, good vibes

Got around to finally watching this.

First thought was damn this show is very chill and lighthearted like it's trying to send good vibes out there. I'm not a big fan of this but I still gave it a 8 only because I needed a chill good vibes show.

I actually just finished Weak Hero then I watched this cause I was after more Weak Hero style fighting back the bullies, going psycho mode and I thought with a name like gangster we'd see some serious fighting and stuff. I was surprised how silly the series was but impressed enough that I stuck around since it was such good vibes all around.

Last episode I played on 1.5x speed and I didn't really like how it just ended like that was not a positive ending in my opinion and for those that do watch I won't spoil why but I feel like it was just a bad resolution which knocked a good point off like as much as it was good vibes I kind of feel like it was just not a good message at the end and it's hard to not spoil while being critical of how it ends. It is a feel good ending for some but for me I'm like damn...

Don't expect anything too serious.

Good watch if you're looking for a chill vibe series and it doesn't really do much wrong since the script is solid for the vibe.

Actors brought down by poor quality script

I just finished Bloodhounds season 1 and 2 together so it's fresh as doozy.

The first season is still fresh with me since I finished it in a binge, the second season I took a bit of time but overall the first season was a good 8/10 for me. Story was a bit weak at some points but it was a grounded season about loan sharks and how these two brothers meet and grow.

Now season 2 became horrid.

Why?

1. It lacks character development unlike season 1 that explored a lot of characters this season didn't
2. The villain is basic as fuck at least the villain had character development in season 1, this season 2 was just poor
3. Bringing back the previous cast that wasn't close with the boys seems like they're just forcing it, it wasn't coherent
4. The main protagonist is a freaking cry baby in season 2

I felt like the story was just bad like off the ground the premise was horrible.

The story would be immensely better if the two protagonist become the person that helped them out which I won't spoil but you'll get it if you watched both. Season 1 was really good because it gave the two a mission, it gave them a spirit and principles to live by which you don't see in Season 2 at all.

Season 2 should have been the main protagonist is a boxing champion, is famous and therefore has money. He endeavors on the side to help other people just like how in season 1 he was helped. You could have intertwined it with underground boxing in a more sensible way not some dark web bull. They could have been out and run into a girl who was severely beaten, near death and that starts entangling the two the villain.

That is it.

It was so shallow the way they introduced the villain and the entire season was just so basic.

Also season 3 is a thing apparently and it ends with some cut scenes which I absolutely hated. It's going to get extremely convoluted in season 3. They should have just went grounded scripting and it would have turned out better.

I'm amazed the rating as of writing is a 8.7 while season 1 is 8.7 like sometimes I'm just wondering how that is possible. It is night and day what season 1 vs 2 is.

I still enjoyed it because I liked the fight scenes but I can smell a mediocre script a mile away and this was just bad. The actors deserve better because season 1 proves they can really act but the script didn't give them room so everyone felt like just borderline basics.

A feel good story but sometimes too farfetched

Now going into this I had no idea what this was except it had high rating.

Well the first episode explains the premise which was this guy is recruited to run a company and he has to lose money to win in life and so he ventures into this running a game development company.

The problems I have

- Story is flat
- The competing company fell apart and it wasn't one of those corporate battles/drama
- The character development of the main lead is dry
- The angle they come from to show running a company not like a tyrant is nice but farfetched
- The solutions are farfetched and how the team wins

Honestly, I didn't binge this and I just slow burned it as a side series because I expected nothing but winning. The thing with this series is it is like if god was on earth and there was no big problems that god cannot solve which is why I didn't enjoy it all that much but I did give it a 7.5 only because I feel like if you need something not so serious you can watch this and just cruise.

In fact the entire series I felt like calling it flat is more like saying you cruise through the story.

I would have loved to see a mix of comedy and suspense like if they did things like

- Focus on just game development industry and real world issues
- Only one antagonist which is a competing company
- Quicker main lead character development where he decides he'll lose so his people can win
- Less casting because there's way too much and due to this the main cast is diluted
- Tinge of love-y dove-y between a male and female lead in the work place but no kiss scene maybe a end hand hold

I would really like a show that felt like we "employees" could watch and be like yea f that CEO type of person. I never felt that way watching this but I really wanted to feel that way so maybe that's why I'm disappointed.

Superb acting, good story but a tinge of irrelevant backstory/flashbacks

The acting was 10/10 like I was a bit annoyed at the students especially the main lead for being so weird but then that's the point I get annoyed at teenager being like teenagers so they played the part well making poor decisions and being emotional little beaches.

For the story I gave it a 7.5 because of the following reasons

- I enjoyed the main characters and how cute their dynamic was
- I did not like the 5-6 episodes focused on other cast like they dedicated entire episodes on their backstory
- I did not like ending because I felt we wasted 5-6 episodes when we could have seen more main character development but it's like skip to the future here he is now
- I did not like the backstory of the villains as it took too much screen time
- I did not like the flashbacks also wasting time
- I though the premise of everyone nearly having similar powers (villains) was stupid

The big issue is the ending wrap up was truly rushed and they could have spent 2 episodes on that to build up for the future but instead it's like a time skip and then hey everything great. It just didn't work for me.

Good series, I heard season 2 maybe in production now and I'll definitely watch that but I want more of the two main characters. I can already season 2 going to have a tonne of side character stories considering what they ended with.

Action packed vigilantism with good episodic stories

I'm a simple lad so I'll keep it relatively short.

This show has action, no romance and a simple vigilantism story. It is a must watch but not a binge watch if you're into some kick ass type of story that you have to just accept the ridiculous plot armour that occurs.

One thing to just keep in mind is that the whole premise of a taxi isn't important as I thought this story revolves around taking people on rides and randomly encountering people in taxis doing heinous acts. It's not like that, it's not like some dude brings a drunk girl in a taxi and the taxi driver takes them to a destination and serves justice.

The show could be called The Beekeeper and still be the same but otherwise the missions they complete and the fight scenes were very well choreographed. It's a good show for action lovers and the story revolves around their own trauma's to build some character development.
