Itō Kentarō should appear in episode 2 (unless I got him mixed up with another character). Episode 1 moves very rapidly and really gave me chills in a fantastic way, to see the powerhouse cast in action for their portrayals. This should have been at least 40 episodes instead of just 7!

I seem to enjoy most the last episodes.
Have you tried reading the novel?

Finally got to the lsst episode. They are really stabbing us in the heart.I don't want it to end 😭 😭
You can always rewatch it. Second time around is even better. There are so many Easter eggs (especially if you are aware of "Immortality") that anyone who's been hoping for "皓衣行" will see many shout-outs 😁😁😁

Otter Studios wasn't subtle about this.

I will definitely be tuning in!
Definitely watching this in the cinema in the upcoming week!

"就是想要拍最纯粹的武侠," says Yuen Woo-ping. He states that he has gathered four generations of wuxia artists to produce the purest wuxia possible. This is set in the Western Regions. Our 八爷 is the first generation, which the likes of Wu Jing and all other martial arts veterans acknowledge as the ultimate authority in the cinema world of martial arts and hence, Wu Jing also speaks of five generations of wuxia talents creating and enabling this movie.

"那时江湖非常凶险," Yuen Woo-ping continues. The (pugilistic) world was very dangerous at that time.

Yu Shi, who has the role of Shu, continues about the wuxia approach of this movie ie "武侠的一种真实的状态", followed by Chen Lijun, Ci Sha, Wu Jing and other cast members talking about the wuxia spirit and world settings of this movie.

"想讲一种武侠自由的世界," is Wu Jing's approach of wanting to convey a pugilistic world showcasing the utmost freedom of wuxia. He listens to Yuen Woo-ping on this.

Nicholas Tse continues with, "我一直都觉得武侠是中国电影的优势-" I mean, this is literally the movie that Yuen Woo-ping and Wu Jing reckon will be the purest wuxia possible. Who doesn't want to see Jet Li fighting Wu Jing and Zhang Jin? There's no fancy special effects, no excessive filters, and the likes of Zhang Jin easily executing mid-air side flips while hurling one of his 蝴蝶双刀 due to his excellent control of spatial awareness, fantastic core muscles, and decades of wushu finesse. One look at the initial trailer more than three weeks ago, and Zhang Jin's moves are apparent to old-school wuxia fans about the real deal for this movie.

In 1.51 out of 3:47 of the BTS, wuxia has been mentioned so many times that only an idiot would say this movie has nothing to do with wuxia.

Anyone who knows mandarin or wuxia also knows Jin Yong's martial arts novels are synonymous with wuxia, regardless of what movie is produced by anyone.

There's a troll on this page who has showcased how moronic they are in multiple spam comments trashing this movie and being racist about chinese people, before I wrote my article about this movie. They aggressively reply to MDL users who are eager to see this movie, and also insulted wuxia fans of all ages. The best part is where they need some kind of AI to learn about wuxia but still get it all wrong 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

They should stick to romance, instead of trolling MDL Chinese drama and movie pages while continuously perpetuating their racism against Chinese people. That account behaves as if they want to drive MDL users off this page. Maybe they hate the MDL website. Bullying, spamming, harassment-

I shared the official MV for the entire theme song by MISIA as the latest comment. Given the distributor network is WOWOW, Viki might be a better bet than Netflix.

Maybe a group effort to flood Viki with requests might help for OTT platforms. I don't know if Netflix is going to pick this up.

Thank you for sending me the link to this article.
You're welcome. I'm glad this drama is produced while Kitakata-Sensei is still alive. His recent interview was also illuminating, such as his enjoyment of re-interpreting 'Suikoden' versus 'Romance of The Three Kingdoms': https://shueisha.online/articles/-/256488

IMHO, many older filmmakers and authors should be appreciated while they can still work in these fields. I also wrote about "Blades of The Guardians" which premieres on the first day of the Lunar New Year because it involves five generations of martial arts legends and artists carrying on the tradition (the Director is the first generation), and such a movie will likely never be produced again.

Have a good weekend!

Title A Chan
,✨An few extras to go with the teaser below 👇 ✨...Lin Yi wrap up extra 💪😁...https://weibo.com/detail/526508302034763Ai…
The wrap-up trailer is very good. It is plot-focused and aims to showcase the acting ranges of the ML and FL. This is the kind of drama that will have the highest potential of achieving good domestic results and being viewed as more than just an idol drama. Also appears to be able to do justice to the novel (friendship build-up solid, life-and-death situations, life-altering choices etc). Humour, suspense, tragedy, hope- Waterworks will be tested.

The body swaps will be fun, because we get to see Lin Yi and Ai Mi being themselves yet having to also be each other's characters. Old Hollywood vibes coming through.

Here is the Youku official trailer + wrap-up, with English subs for those who need it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhNvcxj9_8U

"Every leap through time has its cost."

I would prefer "Above The Wall" to air first. That Youku non-idol drama was finished much earlier and it is Ai Mi's first FL in a drama, after her first FL role in the movie which aired in November 2024 😃

This is a voluntary article as a labour of love, since someone raised the topic politely to me. 99.5% of articles…
It's always interesting and educational to hear the viewpoints of different readers. I hadn't watched J-dramas for more than 15 years, and am tiptoeing my way back into them. I watch some zany and interesting movies, and I sometimes wonder if I'm too old-fashioned when I'm reminiscing about the era of "Beach Boys", "Long Vacation", "GTO", "Gokusen" - One of my favourite actors is Nakamura Tōru. tvn has a remake of Kôri no Sekai known as "Siren's Kiss", but I'm possibly too fond of the original.

What do you like to watch in J-Dramas (genres and a drama example)?

Have you read Ebisuna92's articles (they are an earlier MDL user), and they definitely know their literary history plus media history in J-Dramas: https://kisskh.at/profile/Ebisuno92/articles

I heartily recommend enjoying what they wrote, such as "If The Woman Behind The Counter Was a J-Drama".

I wrote another recent article (this is old-school wuxia) about "Blades Of The Guardians", which comprises five generations of martial arts legends and actors in one unique movie set in the Western Regions.

https://news.mydramalist.com/article/cinematic-wuxia-epic-blades-of-the-guardians-premieres-on-february-17

These articles are better appreciated if one is old enough to identify with certain lead actors and/or actresses XD

That said Water Margin gives me bad memories. Theres a character in there with almost the same name as me with…
No one will make fun of your name *I know which female character you refer to*. Besides, if people didn't see how my Mandarin name is written, they tend to think my name is the same as the Chinese commander from a prominent Chu family that overthrew the Qin Dynasty and executed the last Qin Emperor 😂😂

Oh yes, there are many characters in this drama, and here's a link to at least 40 images, with some of the women specified and the seemingly-minor characters having important roles on the story: https://natalie.mu/eiga/news/649987

I soooooo hope they'll screen it at the asian cinema festival that I attend every year in Italy, watching it on…
You have to have an amazing sound system at home (I identify with Sonus Faber because that's that brand I use to listen to music or watch anything on a screen), or definitely on a gigantic screen. I hope you see all this on a big screen at the film festival!

There's this video youtube short whereby a certain Youtube user states, "I grew up watching their wuxia works *insert teary-eyed nostalgic face*". Also states as a header [Never thought they would all appear in the same movie] throughout the entire clip.

And then cue the next few examples in the following order (complete with their characters in this movie, and listed examples of their works just below the number of years):

Jet Li - 44 years
Wu Jing - 31 years
Nicholas Tse - 29 years
Kara Wai - 49 years
Tony Leung Ka Fai - 43 years
Zhang Jin - 26 years

I want to know what Wu Bin thinks, when he finally sees his former students Jet Li and Wu Jing square off in a fight on-screen (yeah, they know their wushu master is going to watch this movie, sure as eggs are eggs)!

Between Netflix and Viki, I'm not sure which would be more likely because the original distributor network is WOWOW...

Speaking of Itō Kentarō, here he is 2 days ago in behind-the-scenes-of photoshoot for a certain TV Guide that is purchasable *winks*:

BTS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwPcuhZPRe8
TV Guide - https://zasshi.tv/products/56704/

Returning to this drama, Itō Kentarō's role as Bushō [Wu Song] represents courage and recklessness out of 108 rebels. Famous for slaying a tiger with his bare hands.
